Answer:	if I remember correctly it told you in the instructions but if you don't have them just use a drill bit that's a little smaller than the blue anchors and that will work just fine

Question:	I need 8” maximum clearance. Could I cut the receiving tube down a few inches and redrill for the pin? I understand this will void the warranty
Answer:	Don't see why not assuming you have the tools to do so as the receiving tube appears to me as stock square steel tubing. Doing this of course would remove the protective coating and if you live as I do near the beach rusting will ensue as I am sure under the coating is not stainless steel so I would be prepared to attempt to anodize or some other rustproofing of the newly exposed metal.
Question:	Will the 25" inch hold most paddle boards? main use is my surfboards but thinking about potentially getting a sup in the future
Answer:	Yup. The board may stand proud, but will certainly suffice provided you have 2/3 of the surface supported by the bars. Both of my boards overhang by a few inches as they are 29" and 34" and their widest.
Question:	Is the 30 inch XL available
Answer:	No, we are unfortunately temporarily out of the Hi-Port 2 XL. We do sell several other SUP ceiling storage options if you would like to check our page out!

Question:	How long should it take to install one rack
Answer:	I think it took me about 90 minutes and my skill level is moderate. Finding your ceiling joists and centering it where you want it is most of the work. I pre-drilled the holes for the lag bolts to ease installation and then just bolts together. Easy.
Question:	It says it’s adjustable.... so would this be able to be installed on a slanted ceiling
Answer:	Without seeing the slope of the ceiling, I would assume you would need to adjust one side so it is longer than the other. I mounted my rack to 2x4s on the two sides. It simplified fastening it to the joists in the garage ceiling. It also served to stiffen the unit. It is a beast.
Question:	How many bikes can it hold
Answer:	the picture shows one bike. unless that's just false advertising to sell the product
Question:	Does it bother anyone else that they are showing the item where the door will never open? The Door rail stops and faids out
Answer:	The entire photo is computer generated. That is not photoshop, it's an area install example. There is no chain or drive on the overhead unit, no supports for the clearly small garage door, no electrical for opener, etc. I could go on and on. They just want to depict a usage for the tracks that some people may not think of and yes they do work above the garage door when it is open

Answer:	No on the adjustment of the arms without drilling and repositioning the screw below each arm. Yes on removing any of the arms.
Question:	Why would washers be used for attaching the uprights
Answer:	This rack will hold significant weight. You need to use strong anchors to hold the uprights to the wall. The horizontals are well anchored to the Uprights and wrap around the uprights. This means there is a small gap between the uprights and the wall. The washer is used to space the uprights from the wall a bit.
Question:	what are the dimensions? Length of the uprights, space between shelves, length of the shelf from the back riser to front of beam. Thanks
Answer:	The vertical bars are 24.5". The horizontal bars are13.5", and the depth of the shelf is 12.5" (an 1" accounts for the width of vertical bar). There is approximately 7" between each shelf.

Answer:	Hi- This product is designed to be mounted to a wall. It does not have "feet" that would allow them to be free-standing. We have two similar products - models VR164 and VR864 which are full height racks and have the feet that allow you to bolt them back to back and be free standing. Question:	What is the maximum diameter that will fit
Answer:	Hi-If you scroll through the images you will see a schematic side profile of the rack. It has four 4" high openings at the top and four 6" openings on the lower rungs. The actual openings are slightly smaller to account for the thickness of the posts. Answer:	I used the shelving brackets as couplers to connect the top and bottom
Question:	What is the difference between "original" and "upgrade
Answer:	I actually called the Edsal company March 23. I was told that the "upgrade" option "includes 4 plastic feet and 4 couplers" for the vertical rails allowing the middle shelf to be adjusted. I really found that answer to be bizarre because in my mind those parts are what completes the kit for only the tall option. What if you split the unit in half like advertised? You would need 8 feet but no couplers. Why would you not sell a complete kit for all options? As far as I am concerned, both kits original and upgrade are short parts depending on configuration. I suppose it is like ordering a hot fudge sundae without the nuts and cherry on top. What's the point. I have my doubts about this product being structurally sound but reading many of the reviews it might be worth it to try.
Question:	It would be extremely helpful to know the measurements once set up so I could determine if it the proper size for the various areas I need shelves
Answer:	5 shelfs measure 18.5X48" floor to ceiling is 71" Very sturdy and wider than my tough guy shelfs from Ace hardware for the same price. If you need anything further let me know

Professionally Engineered

Edsal's shelving has been constructed from the ground up to ensure easy setup, protection from the elements, and a long life. The rivet lock design allows for assembly without nuts or bolts, black baked enamel finish for resistance to corrosion, and the shelves are supported by double-riveted beams and braces.

Step 1

Assemble two post with one brace (see figure A). Skipping one slot from the bottom of the post, place the rivets into post with the shelf ledge facing up (see figure B). Tap lightly to seat rivets. Repeat with two post and one brace. Assemble the two post end units with two beams (see figure C). Skip one slot from the bottom of post, tap lightly to seat rivets.

Step 2

Start by adding a wood shelf to the level previously built, then continue working by adding the second level using two beams and two braces in the post slots of your desired location. Again place the rivets of the beams and braces into the post slot with the shelf ledge facing up and tap lightly to seat the rivets.

Step 3

Add a wood shelf to the previously built level, then assemble the top post to the bottom post by using four of the post couplers. place the couplers into the top of the bottom post, and the bottom of the top post and tap down to properly seat (see figure D). Continue by adding the third level using two 92) beams and two braces just above the post couplers. Again tap lightly to seat the rivets.

Step 4

Add a wood shelf to the previously built level, then continue by adding the final level to the unit using two beams and braces. Tap lightly to properly seat the rivets and add the final wood shelf to the top of the unit.

Question:	how do you lift it to the ceiling do you have a crank system
Answer:	I'm not especially strong but I lifted the rack onto a ladder and balanced it there with the help of another shelf, then I attached 4 rubber (heavy duty) bungee cords to each corner and hooked it to the ceiling mount. After those were all attached I could carefully keep tightening the cords by moving the hook further and further into the middle of the rack, lifting it up incrementally. Eventually you get to a point where you can 'hook' the rack onto the piece that comes down from the ceiling mount, so it's supported before you screw it in.
Question:	Do I have to install the rack perpendicular to the ceiling joists as in the video or can I install the rack parallel to the joists
Answer:	As long as the ceiling mounts are installed in a joist(s), then it will work. I installed my units in the corner of my garage, which required some creative mounting, as the studs where not conveniently lined up for a perfect installation. For one of the brackets, I ended up securing it to the wall rather ceiling as there was no stud along the ceiling next to one of the walls.
Question:	Is the ceiling anchor bracket 16 to 24 inches long so one can span perpendicular over two ceiling joists to properly secure the rack
Answer:	Janet,First off, my ceiling joist run front to back in my garage. My racks are mounted on the back wall with the 48" width going front to back and the 96" length side to side. The predrilled mounting holes are spaced 16" apart along the long side and 24" on the side. Therefore, they are ready as you receive them for for both. The vertical adjustable drop straps are mounted every 48" so it doesn't make any difference which spacing your ceiling joist is since every 48" they match up anyway. If you put the rack in a back corner of a garage you could mount it with the short side on the back wall and the long side along the side wall. In that case you would need to either have 24" spacing in your ceiling joist or buy 3 48" (you can buy them this length at a hardware store, Lowes or Home Depot) pieces of angle iron to span 16" joist then use any of the holes available to get the 24 and 48" spacing at the ceiling. Question:	What is the weight limit
Answer:	The limit is 600lbs, says so in the description and in the manual. I have 2 of these and I have a good 400lbs on 1 and 200 on the other and they have held just fine. If it fell, it wasn't installed correctly.
