14 best cuisinart frozen ice cream maker

The Cuisinart Frozen Ice Cream Maker is a popular small appliance designed for home use, allowing you to make delicious homemade ice cream, sorbet, gelato, and frozen yogurt. Here's what you can generally expect from a Cuisinart Frozen Ice Cream Maker:

  1. Freezing Mechanism: Cuisinart ice cream makers typically use a double-insulated freezer bowl as their freezing mechanism. You need to freeze this bowl in your freezer for a specific amount of time before using it to make ice cream. The frozen bowl helps chill and freeze the mixture as it churns.

  2. Churning Process: The ice cream maker has a motorized churning paddle or dasher that rotates and continuously mixes the ice cream base. This motion prevents ice crystals from forming and ensures a smooth, creamy consistency.

  3. Capacity: Cuisinart offers ice cream makers with different capacities, ranging from one quart to two quarts or more. Choose a size that suits your needs and the amount of ice cream you want to make.

  4. Simple Operation: Operating a Cuisinart ice cream maker is typically straightforward. You prepare your ice cream mixture, pour it into the frozen bowl, and start the machine. The churning process usually takes about 20-30 minutes.

  5. Recipe Book: Some Cuisinart ice cream makers come with a recipe book that provides a variety of ice cream and frozen dessert recipes to inspire your culinary creations.

  6. Transparent Lid: The ice cream maker typically comes with a transparent lid that allows you to monitor the churning process without opening the machine, helping to maintain the desired temperature.

  7. Easy Cleanup: Most components of Cuisinart ice cream makers, such as the mixing paddle and freezer bowl, are removable and easy to clean.

  8. Customization: With a Cuisinart ice cream maker, you have the freedom to experiment with flavors and ingredients, creating custom ice cream blends to suit your taste preferences.

  9. Versatility: While primarily designed for ice cream, many Cuisinart ice cream makers can also make other frozen desserts like sorbets, gelato, and frozen yogurt, providing versatility in your dessert-making endeavors.

Cuisinart is a reputable brand known for producing high-quality kitchen appliances, including ice cream makers. When considering a Cuisinart Frozen Ice Cream Maker, be sure to check the specific model's features and any included accessories. Some models may offer additional features like a countdown timer or a larger capacity.

It's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for freezing the bowl and preparing the ice cream mixture to achieve the best results in terms of texture and flavor. Homemade ice cream makers are a fun and delicious way to enjoy frozen treats at home, with the added benefit of customizing flavors and ingredients to your liking.

User questions & answers

Question: is the mixing paddle supposed to turn? mine doesn't seem to do that, just the container turns
Answer: Just read and review booklet instructions and it states the bowl and not the paddle turns. I also thought I had a defective ice cream machine until I re-read directions. Cuisinart should really print in boldface this fact. Would definitely save much aggravation. I love my Cuisinart ice cream machine !!!
Question: does this make good yogurt
Answer: I make frozen yogurt with this every week, and my recipe is SO easy: 1 quart VANILLA (not plain) yogurt, 1 pkg thawed frozen cherries (or berries of any type). No salt, no sugar, no milk, no nothin' else. Turn it on for 20 minutes and you're done. Yummy frozen yogurt. Other favorite flavors, always beginning with VANILLA yogurt: 1) coconut and chopped pecans; 2) 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips
Question: Can I make ice cream using this machine without eggs?, and does the maker come with a recipe book
Answer: I stopped using eggs because for some reason, the ice cream would freeze too hard. I now use: 1 cup cream, 2 cup half-and-half, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 teaspoon vodka (helps the freezing), pinch of salt, pinch of cinnamon. It's great.
Question: As soon as my ice cream maker is full it continually roams around the counter what's up with that
Answer: That sometimes happens due to having an extremely flat surface and moisture condensation buildup underneath the ice cream maker. It's science not magic.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this work, if i want to use it to transfer the ice cream i made? to keep the ice cream cold for a longer time during the travel? say 30 minutes
Answer: Yes, I re-freeze this after making sorbet/ice cream and then put the frozen treat in a container that fits inside. I thencover with another cold/freezer pack and put in cooler bag. After 1.5 hours of driving the sorbet was still solid.
Question: Has anyone ever successfully made 2 batches of ice cream without re-freezing the canister between productions
Answer: I have tried it and no, the second batch did NOT freeze up properly. Since I often have two flavors when I entertain, or need more than 1 and 1/2 quarts of ice cream, I bought a second canister. NOW I can make two batches in a row.
Question: Is it possible to buy a lid for this? It would help keep the ice cream fresh and also keep the bowl clean when sitting in the freezer
Answer: The lids for the Pyrex 1.75 qt round glass storage container fit this ice cream container perfectly.
Question: What does the bottom of this look like? I need one that has a 10-sided 'flower' on the bottom where the turning device fits in
Answer: The bottom of this looks like a flower petal.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this device make yogurt
Answer: The description says that it can make frozen yogurt - to just use the ice cream setting. Cook's has a delicious recipe for frozen ginger yogurt, including instructions on how to keep it from tasting chalky or being too "icy".
Question: Can I purchase extra bowls to freeze in refrigerator and if so, where do I go or what is the part number on Amazon to acquire them
Answer: I bought the Tovolo Ice cream tubs and they are very sturdy with a removable inner plastic liner for easy cleaning. The large bowl itself that fits inside the machine is not supposed to have ice cream frozen in it because it can damage it. I leave the empty bowl in my freezer until I'm ready to make a batch and then empty the contents into a Tovolo tub. I looked at other tubs but this brand seemed to have the best reviews, was reusable, and decent in price. They fit about 1.5 quarts and I have a little extra in the machine that I either eat or just put in a small Tupperware dish. I know you can go directly on the Cuisinart website if you need any part numbers for a specific model. I did see extra bowls for the machine on their site and on amazon. Just get your model number for your machine and type that in the search box.
Question: Does anyone know how this compares to the ICE-60W model
Answer: The ICE-70 is a step up from the ICE-60W model -- it has an auto count-down feature. I chose the ICE-70 over any other model based on this article on the Best Ice Cream makers: http://bit.ly/1TClJZl.
Question: Has anyone tried making Gelato? How does it turn out
Answer: Gelato turns out very good. My wife tried a few different variations of coffee flavored gelato and we were happy every single time.

But the best part comes next. Dastardly Mash, featuring nuts, raisins, and hunks of chocolate. The celebrated Heath Bar Crunch. New York Super Fudge Chunk. Oreo Mint. User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone left the sugar out (or only used a couple of tablespoons)? How does the amount of sugar affect the texture of the finished product
Answer: Short answer: no. Dissolved solids are what suppress the freezing point and sugars are your primary source of these. You can reduce sugars by substituting some other solids, like nonfat dry milk (make sure to get 100% skim milk solids). Is your goal reducing sweetness or reducing caloric sugar? If the former, change the sugars you use. Use a mix of dextrose (pure glucose) and table sugar. Dextrose is only 70% as sweet but has nearly double the freezing point suppression. If you want sweetness but no the sugar calories, a portion of the sugar can be replaced by non-digestible sugar alcohols. I'd recommend erythritol. But be careful; if you consume too much it can cause digestive discomfort. And it doesn't taste 100% like sugar. I wouldn't substitute more than 60% of the sugar or so.
Question: Can I make a pint of ice cream in one use, or do I have to make the full 1.5 qt
Answer: Absolutely you can. And like Calvin said, the less ice cream you make the faster it freezes. I have had mine for over a year now and it continues to work flawlessly. Excellent product.
Question: Trying to decide between Cuisinart ICE-100 and Breville BCI600XL. Would love your thoughts
Answer: I bought this machine at an estate sale for $15. It looked like it had never been used. I just pulled it out after about 3 months. With no experience at all having made ice cream I watched some YouTube videos and decided on a custard base (made with egg yolks). I pour straight into the machine hot from the stove and in about an hour and 20 minutes I have soft serve ice cream. It’s the best I’ve ever had. The machine is a dream! It’s SOOOOO. Easy to use AND addictive! My first day I made 3 quarts of frozen custard. I don’t think I’ll ever buy ice cream at the store again.
Question: Really? (Amazon) claims 45% savings off price ($545). Come one, retail price from Cusinart is $299. zero/nada/0 % savings
Answer: Yup, I agree. It is sad indeed that I have to go to other online retailers to figure out the current retail price vs what Amazon calculates it to be to raise the % to make it look like a steal....and after seeing that I am only getting like $4 off of a high priced item, then most daily deals that grab my attention go ignored after calculating the tax vs. Eb @i which still doesn't charge tax. It reminds me of a store that opened up about 10 years ago at the mall. They sold made in china houshold furniture that looked nice. They would have a cheap made wooden chair with a ticket price of $499 but since the store was always at a "closing sale" then you could get everything on the store at a whopping 75% off! That store had a closing sale till it did close about 8 years later.

Cuisinart ICE-20 Automatic 1-1/2-Quart Ice Cream Maker, White

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Creating up to 1-1/2 quarts of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home takes only about 20 minutes with this electric appliance, and salt and ice are not needed. After the machine's chilling chamber has been in the freezer for about eight hours the liquid between its walls becomes thoroughly frozen. The chamber then goes atop the power base, the unit's paddle goes into the chamber, the transparent top is locked in place, and the machine is turned on. Ingredients go into the chamber through an opening in the top as the paddle turns. The chamber chills the ingredients to whatever consistency is desired--though dense treats are hard to make because the paddle churns in air.

Chocolate chips, chopped fruit, nuts, and other special ingredients can be added toward the end. The nonstick chamber makes cleanup a snap. Storing it in the freezer ensures a frozen confection is only 20 to 40 minutes away when the mood strikes. The machine measures 10 inches in diameter and 15 inches high and weighs 9-1/2 pounds. It carries a three-year limited warranty. A detailed instruction booklet including many recipes comes included. --Fred Brack

Question: Can you make ice cream using no eggs and in place of cream can you use soy milk, or almond milk
Answer: I don't use eggs with my ice cream. Unfortunately I have not used soy or almond milk. I have used heavy whipping cream, and I want to try original greek yogurt, or the vanilla. It could be interesting.
    Question: why won't it freeze
Answer: After owning two different ice cream makers and using them often, I learned a few dos and don'ts. One of them is never rush the freezing of the bowl. It must be frozen for at least 24 hours in your freezer set to 0°f. And it should be set back from the door or lid of the freezer. Try not to open the freezer during this time. Chill but do not freeze the paddle. Chill the mix at least 24 hours-do not freeze. During hot and humid weather, you will not get even soft ice cream if the area you are using is not out of drafts. Cover the hole at the top with a saucer of folded tea towel. The ice cream making process is a little fussy but well worth the results, really impresses the grandkids. Expect a frozen custard like consistency that you can repack and place in the freezer to ripen and firm up.
Question: Do I have to pre-chill the bowl in my refrigerator's freezer or is everything done in the Cuisinart Ice cream maker
Answer: Yes, you have to put the bowl in the freezer for 18-24 hours. I store my bowl in the freezer so it's always ready. The double walled bowl is filled with something that freezes and that how the ingredients freeze. The actual ice cream making time is only 25-30 minutes once the ingredients are put in the bowl.
Question: The mixture froze to the sides of the bowl and the rest remained watery. I did NOT add my ingredients before starting machine. Blade moves with bowl. Is this right
Answer: Once your mixture is good and ready, get the bowl out of the freezer and install it in place: the round opening should be up, and the cross blade should be at the bottom, with the external knob fitting in the little hole at the bottom of your bowl. Also the clear plastic dome must be locked in place on the motor base. Turn Cuisinart ON BEFORE you pour the mixture into the freezer bowl as instructed in the Cuisinart booklet. (NOTE: ingredients must be added to the freezer bowl after unit is turned on).
