Answer:	Yes, eventually UV degrades all organic materials like this rope. My original rope was good for about 15 years, but was stored inside. This rope as well is stored inside, so I don't have any data.

Answer:	They say 6/16. But im sure slightly larger work also, because there is enough room for 7/16 and 3/8 is still enough contact to move the wheel.
