User questions & answers
Question: | which setting is for volts, and which is for ac |
Answer: | The V with the two lines is DC volts and the line with the squiggly line is AC volts. |
Question: | is the continuity test audible |
Answer: | Good question. and I can't find an answer it doesn't say but in the picture when it's showing someone testing continuity it shows that it's beeping what it doesn't say that it does beat and we've got two people on here that say it does not and two people that say that it does so good luck I'm looking for one that is audible myself why all multimeters don't have an audible noise when you have continuity I will never know either that or you can have one that has a paper thin needle that jumps and you can't see it and you have to take your eyes off of what you're working on to see if you have continuity and when you move your head you lose contact and it's such a pain in the ass |
Question: | Is this unit protected by a fuse? If so, is it replaceable? My last meter was fused but it was soldered. I couldn't easily replace it |
Answer: | I had to replace the ammeter fuse (because I forgot to switch the hot (red) test lead from the left side to the middle, before testing my car's battery voltage). That fuse is 10A 600V. I looked around for those & couldn't find them, but found 10A 250V and these worked OK. They're 20 x 5 mm ( .2 x .79") ceramic fast-blow. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JFDTTMJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
Question: | Can this handle being plugged into a wall socket? Also, can someone give a walkthrough of how to safely test a socket |
Answer: | plug the red lead into the meter socket marked COM and the black into the center meter socket. Set the dial to V~ (for AC volts) on the 200 scale (for household current) insert one probe lead into each of the wall socket's vertical slots and move them around a bit inside the outlet slots to make sure you're getting a good connection, if in doubt plug a lamp or something into the socket. If you suspect the outlet socket itself has failed carefully remove the wall plate in order to access the actual wires connected to the outlet to be sure it's either a dead circuit or the outlet itself has failed. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this test through the wire insulation |
Answer: | Yes. You can tell if it is an energized cord/circuit. |
Question: | Why does my tester beep 6 times, flashes red then turns off |
Answer: | i never noticed mine beeping and flashing but it alway's shut's down unless you hold the power button down for a few second's. |
Question: | Hi what does a slow beep with a red light indicate it's not rapid. Thanks Tom |
Answer: | Klein non-contact sensors are known for being misleading, by blinking red and beeping even when there is no electrical current nearby. It does blink red and beep fast (and continuously) at 110v power and is pretty good for that. The slow blinks/beeps, even when touching wood or the edge of a kitchen counter, mean nothing. Some say it's due to very low voltage or 'phantom voltage' but this doesn't always seem to be the case. |
Question: | This pen tester make any sounds when it detects power |
Answer: | Yes it make a sound and flash red, but make sur than the tester is on green to be sure to test 120 volt because you have two options bleu for low voltage and green for 120 volts! |

User questions & answers
Question: | The volt sensor is so sensitive it goes off near an outlet. Is that normal? I thought I could stick it in the slots to find out which side was hot |
Answer: | Yes, you can insert the tip of this tool into the slots of an outlet then press the button and it will tell you which side is hot. You can also use it to test the wires in a circuit if you are unsure which is the hot lead. If the wires are connected to the switch, outlet etc touch the tip to the bared wire at the contact point and it will tell you if it is hot. You can also just touch the insulation covering the wires to get a reading too. Try to keep the wires you are testing separted by a few inches if possible, this will help prevent any false reading you might get by voltage seepage from the insulated hot lead. If you didn't know - the hot wire in a circuit is usually black, red or maybe some other dark color, the white is the neutral or return and the green is the ground. Start by testing the dark wire first but as a precaution be sure the check the white also - someone may have wired in incorrectly and that could be a hot lead. I've had - well had, until I left it someplace - one of these for years and it's a good useful tool. So I gotta get another one now, and I'm getting one of these. |
Question: | Can this be used as a circuit breaker finder |
Answer: | You could use them to find a circuit breaker, if you had someone to watch the tester, while you went through your panel turning off and on your breakers untill you found the one that controlled that circuit. If you didn't want to do that then you will need to buy an circuit breaker finder kit. |
Question: | does this tester work on low-voltage landscape lighting wires |
Answer: | The non contact voltage tester will. |
Question: | can it tell the diffrence between 220v and 110v |
Answer: | If you can’t tell the difference 110v and 220v .You Dont Need A Meter. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the volt meter itself ever need recharging |
Answer: | You have to replace the battery at some point!Maybe soon if you leave it on! |
Question: | could this measure down to say 0.1 ohms |
Answer: | If you really need to measure extremely low resistances accurately, you can get a power supply that you can set for a constant current of 1A, and put it through your test load. Then put your meter in the DC millivolt range and read across the load. It will display the resistance in millohms, so a reading of 100 mV would correspond to 0.1 ohms. Few people need to measure such small resistance values, but some specialized things like coils and inductors have test specifications down in those ranges. |
Question: | Help. i have a short or bad ground somewhere in my automobile, battery and alt new - i think wires going to the pcm. will this help identify? thanks |
Answer: | This is called a parasitic draw and a multi step process can isolate it down to a single component. You start with checking the draw on the battery. Remove the negative terminal and set the meter to 10 AMPS with the black lead plugged into the the COM connector female on the bottom and the red plugged into 10 amp female on the far left. Clamp the black lead to the negative battery cable connector that you removed and touch the red lead to the negative terminal. If you get a reading higher than a quarter of an amp you the battery is discharging and depending on the draw it will run down over night. A tip: Make sure everything is off in the car by closing the doors and removing the bulb from courtesy engine compartment light. If the bulb is inaccessible just duct tape the switch down. Also if you entered the car to pop the hood you should wait for the computer to go back to sleep - about 20 minutes - before running the test. If there is a draw you should start isolation by pulling fuses - when you pull the right fuse the reading will drop to 1/4 amp or so. The fuse fronts a wiring harness bundle and you can see what circuits it is protecting on a schematic - first thing to check are switches on the bundle and any after market additions to the harness. Most times it will be an open switch but a poor installation of additional lights or accessories is also a high suspect spot for a short. If a switch replace it or even just open it (turn it off). If a short you need to isolate the individual circuit on the harness bundle. Short isolation is a difficult time consuming task and rather than describe it I recommend that you watch this video on YOUTUBE. It is the best I have found for going all the way to the source of a short. Second tip is to have a helper with the fuse pulling and remember that some vehicles have 2 or 3 fuse boxes. GOOD LUCK, this is time consuming but not rocket science. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5zLxD74r20 |
Question: | Does it have a beep function to check connections |
Answer: | If you're referring to the Testing for Continuity function -- yes. "The buzzer sounds if the resistance of a circuit under test is less than 70 ohms". |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this test a cr123a and/or cr2 batteries? thank you |
Answer: | A moderate load is important to check AAA, AA, C, D and 9v or any other battery for that matter. The reason is the open circuit voltage check does not indicate if the battery has the Current capability to sustain the nominal 1.5 or 9.0v under a light to moderate load for a brief 1-3 seconds. Even with a loaded test, it does not indicate the remaining Amp Hours. But a loaded test is a quick and easy light weight check and is a step better than not loaded. |
Question: | which is the most accurate, the d fantatix analog or digital battery checker |
Answer: | What the package says is that it tests 1.5 miniature cells and shows a photo of a button battery in the tester on the back side of the package. However, the photo shows a small button battery. It may work with a larger button - the testing area seems to be about 3/4" across, so as long as the button can be centered in that space, it might work. |
Question: | I keep seeing people ask about "load" checking. Is that important? I just want to know if my batteries are still good |
Answer: | warm is ok. hot is not. |
Question: | Does it test button batteries, like CR |
Answer: | You can user either to control the fan speed. The physical switch has + / - buttons .It is more convenience to control the fan using APP and voice . |

Question: | How do you to do run capacitor and resistance like waterheater element car parts ???? Please reply |
Answer: | Great tool, as a manager for my apts, it's a tool you need in your bag. There is another tool you need to ck voltage, Klein, ck it out. |
Question: | Can I ohm a wire out with this one |
Answer: | Are the protective probe sleeves on the probes? If not removed the exposed tip is too small to make contact by just inserting the probe into a standard outlet. |
Question: | Does it come with a carry bag |
Answer: | CR123A and CR2 are 3-volt, tubular batteries. The meter's full scale is little more than 1.5 volts. The voltages are too high for this type of meter. Do not test these batteries. |
Question: | Bought the klein et60 when put probes into a live power outlet to test it nothing happens? what am i doing wrong |
Answer: | I purchased both the digital (Model BT 168D), and the analog (Model BT 168). Cheap enough and wanted to have them available in multiple locations without hunting it down each time such as basement, garage, other home. They both seemed to work until my electrical product failed. The analog showed battery still good, solid green reading. The digital read 1.3 volts for a 1.5 volt battery. I then checked against my higher quality voltmeter, which also measured 1.3 volts. Usually the analog has a red-yellow-green zone, but in this case the reading was definitely in the green zone, not even borderline. Since this happened I’ve tested on a few more batteries, and decided to throw the analog device out. Unless the battery is DEAD, the reading is misleading. In the digital era no point in wondering. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this determine if a lightbulb socket has power |
Answer: | I find the Fluke's build quality to be better than the Klein. If I drop the Klein, the tail cap falls off and the batteries fly out. I don't have that issue with the Fluke. Also the power button works better, my Klein's button is too sensitive. Also the Fluke I have (the 1AC model) will detect voltage in most tamper resistant receptacles without having to open the shutter, where my Klein will not (some user reported the Fluke is not sensitive but relatively my experience is the opposite). Finally, the Klein and the Southwire are made in China (although the Southwire at least has a LED flashlight built in). The Fluke is not made in China so it is easily worth twice the price to me. You can check out the Fluke and Southwire models at Lowes (and purchase there if you like one or the other). The Klein is often on sale at HD but I really recommend against it compared to the other two. |
Question: | What does this one do better than a non-contact tester at 1/3 of the price |
Answer: | The 2ac is the newer model with an "always on" function. It has a button that is used only to ensure that it still has battery power. The 1ac is the older one that can be turned on or off. They both test for voltage presence the same way, but the 1ac has an audible alert function which the 2ac does not have. |
Question: | is this better than the klien |
Answer: | The multimeter comes with a rubberized shell to protect it, but does not come with a carry case. |
Question: | What is the difference between fluke 2ac and fluke 1ac-a1-ii |
Answer: | Mine is voltage only. For your use a reliable DVM may be a better choice. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this tester read a European style 230v single phase plug (230v on one leg) with proper adapter |
Answer: | I can't answer this question, some adapters for European style plugs do not work with some of our 120v outlets, so I would reccomend you ask a electrician who has a working knowledge of the European plugs, there are electrical books that deal with these situations check your local book store or contact KAIWEETS they may have a answer. sorry I can't be more helpful. |
Question: | In what condition, the outlet tester and the non contact voltage tester could be uesd together |
Answer: | If you wanna know if there is a voltage in the wire and the concrete wiring fault, then you can use the kit. The receptacal tester will tell you if the hot, neutral, and ground are connected to the correct terminals on the receptacle. the non contact voltage tester only detects whether or not there is voltage in a wire. |
Question: | Can I use the circuit tester of this kit to check for Short in the circuit by plugging this into outlet |
Answer: | I don't believe this will help for a short. If the circuit is active/energized it will tell you the line voltage and if the plug is wired correctly and if the plug is grounded. Non-contact tester will let you know if the circuit is energized. If this does not help, hire an electrical contractor. Have a blessed day. |
Question: | Does the outlet tester fall off easily? Will the three indicators cross light |
Answer: | no, they are independent. |
