Answer:	It needs to be closed. Great gate we love it. It has to be lifted slightly into place. A peg fits into a loop. Very secure and looks nice. Recommend it highly. We have it at the top of a steep staircase and it keeps our twin grand daughters safe.
Question:	What is the installed height of this gate
Answer:	The unit itself is 28" high, but it is not installed flush to the ground. Mine is 3" off the ground, making the total height 31".
Question:	Can the mounting hardware be installed perpendicular to the gate? Looks like the gate can swing 90 degrees, but latch has to be parallel to gate
Answer:	The SS30 model gate latch can be installed up to 30 degrees from the gate. It does swing 90 degrees, but because of the latch system it can't be mounted perpendicular to the gate. If the 90 degree installation is something you need, look at the Cardinal Gates Duragate Model MG25.
Question:	the latch system baffles toddlers" - Has anyone's child learn to open this gate
Answer:	I know this is a late answer to the question, but it may help future buyers. My son is 4 and my daughter is 2. I have regular visits from our preschool teachers (2 times a week or so, my state is awesome and provides in home learning) because my daughter is slow on talking. 5 different adult teachers come to my home on the reg still need reminding on how to open this gate. It's insane how awesome this latch system is. I never have to worry knowing that this is blocking my kids from the front door.

Question:	I need CR70 and can’t find them offered
Answer:	I mounted my gate to the doorway at the top of my stairs coming up from the basement. There is a doorway at the top of my stairs with door jambs on either side. The doorway used to have a door, but I took it off, so I have a nice 2x4 framed in doorway covered in sheetrock to which to attach the two gate hinges on one side and the gate latch on the other side. I see that one stairway kit offered as a supplement to the gate at Amazon is for attaching the gate to a banister. The plastic holders and wood slat included in the kit is used to avoid damage to the banister by attaching the gate hinges or latch to the kit and not directly to the banister. If you are attaching the gate to a wall or, in my case, a framed doorway, you don't need the stairway kit. At least as far as I understand. I did not get the stairway kit and did not need it. I just bought the gate and what normally comes with it. I see there is another kit offered as a supplement to the gate that moves the gate an inch or more away from the wall in order to clear a baseboard. That looks handy if you have a baseboard. I don't have a baseboard in the doorway in which I placed my gate, just straight flat door jambs, so I didn't need to worry about a baseboard getting in the way.
Question:	Will these 35 degree beveled washers slide over the cr13 grommet sleeves? is the inside diameter of the washers large enough to insert a cr13 grommet
Answer:	I doubt it, as you have to screw the mounting bases into something, and it would be impossible to drill them into wrought iron. Zip ties MIGHT be able to secure it,....but I doubt it.
Question:	How many angled washers come in the kit
Answer:	As I have my gate installed, the distance from the bottom of the lower plastic hinge mounted on the wall to the top of the upper plastic hinge mounted on the wall is 32 3/8". On the other side of the gate, the latch side, the distance from the bottom of the plastic piece mounted on the wall that holds the lower edge of the gate to the top of upper piece mounted on the wall that latches the gate is 32 3/4". The height of the gate itself, without hinges, from the top of the upper horizontal rail to the bottom of the lower horizontal rail is 29". The width of the gate is adjustable.
