Answer:	I am a strummer and I love these string. I have them on both my Taylor and my Martin. They have a rich tone whether picked, plucked, or strummed. I was one of the beta testers of these strings, sense then they are the only strings that I have used.

Answer:	Light and medium are the width of the strings. Medium strings resonate more but are harder to hold down. Light strings are easier to play but can buzz a little if played too hard. The custom strings try and give you the best of both worlds...lighter bass strings that are easier to play and thicker treble strings which resonate a little better. I like the customs myself.

Question:	Do these work with first act acoustic guitars
Answer:	When you put on a string, you have to allow enough slack for the string to coil around the tuner post. Feed the string through and leave enough slack so you can pull the string about 4 inches above the fret board and then slowly wind it up and as it tightens, pause once in a while let the string stretch. Some strings can take a day to stretch, some don't. Be patient. Good luck...but if you don't leave slack for coiling strings will break.
Question:	Have a EJ200 Epiphone. Would like to replace strings. What type of D'Addario strings do I use
Answer:	Yes, this is a full set.Specifically this is a set of 3. If you want just one select the 1 pack. (I tried to include a link but Amazon defaults it to the 3 pack for some reason)It is possible to look up and find individual strings, but honestly that ends up being more difficult in my opinion and for the cost you might as well grab a set.I am fairly new to guitars as well, so let me just take a moment to say these strings are highly recommended. Answer:	They should work with most guitars. My guess is they will be way too long, but can be cut down. Make sure you do it after stringing and cut both wires on the wound strings so they don't unravel.I had to cut off about 8 inches on my acoustic Seagull.

Answer:	You can. You will need to do a neck adjustment to makeup for the lower tension. These strings are metal that the question was asked under.

Answer:	No, they are plain steel as in other acoustic sets. Nylon would only be found on classical sets.
Question:	how many strings in the pack
Answer:	The lighter the guage...the easier to bend. The easier to bend...the harder to control. Since its an acoustic guitar, i would start with 10's ...try .10 to .46. Thats a pretty standard guage. He should be able to tell if he would like a smaller guage in which case go to 9's. Better yet....take him to a guitar shop and let him try some different guage strings. If hes just strumming, he may like the 10's. When hes ready for more sophisticated play, and until his hands get larger and stronger, he may need the 9's. Happy playing!
Question:	are these ball end or do these come in ball end versions
Answer:	I have never had a neck bow on me but I feel it is safer to go no smaller than .010 on acoustic guitars. One of my acoustics has delicate, thin wood and is doing fine with these strings. You'll be OK.

Answer:	The strings I purchased have a large blue-rimmed circle. They are "Custom Light" with a purple circled "11". Strings are MA175, 80/20 Bronze.

Answer:	Absolutely, seems to be a nice upgrade to the old SP strings from Martin and a great price point!

Answer:	Yes they are E, B, G, D, A, E. Phosphor Bronze, Acoustic Guitar Strings, with wrapped - ball ends. They come in "Light 12" and "Custom Light 11". You can't go wrong with Martin. We use them on a Martin D2R, and also on a Baby Taylor. Just make sure your length is sufficient.

Answer:	Yes, a full set comes in one pack. Although there is no set rule about changing strings, as a 40+ year professional musician who has functioned as an entertainer, recording studio session player, and instructor, I've always thought it best to change all strings at one time. If one string has decayed enough to have broken (other than the rare case of just striking it too hard), it's a pretty good indicator that the rest of the strings are in need of changing as well. Strings simply wear out. There are a number of causes, but the most preeminent cause is simply oxidation. Strings simply rust due to exposure to the atmosphere and the bodily fluids that emanate from our fingers due to touch. Any moisture on the strings also causes particles in the atmosphere to adhere to the string and further foul them. String life can be prolonged simply by wiping down the strings (both on top and underneath next to the fretboard) with a clean dry cloth. The rate at which strings decay, naturally, is therefore determined by how often one plays the instrument. As strings decay, the resonance of tone is decreased. Many novice players are initially pleasantly surprised when they replace strings and notice the dramatic increase in resonance and liveliness. I find that because I play regularly, I need to change strings to preserve their life, regularly, about every six weeks. As a footnote, it is important to know that while coated strings such as D'Addario Phospor Bronze Coated or Elixir Polyweb Coated strings may cost roughly twice as much as non-coated strings, they also last roughly three times as long as non-coated strings. Therefore, I believe coated strings are a better value. Some players are of the opinion that the coating somewhat "dulls" the tone at both ends of the tonal spectrum. I've not found that to be the case. So I'll continue to invest in coated strings. D'Addario has long been my strings of choice. It just seems to me that they are a bit livelier than other brands I have tried.
Question:	What is the difference in sound between an 80/20 and phosphor bronze please? Which is warmer, less bright
Answer:	Jason, Great question!80/20 Bronze are usually brighter, louder and have really focused highs and lows. They work well for those who want to record or who want a string that has more zing to it. Phosphor Bronze on the other hand is warmer and a little bit more mellowed out. They also tend to be better balanced across the tonal spectrum and they last longer than the 80/20 bronze due to the phosphor alloy which prevents oxidation. I hope this helps out. Answer:	Nothing metal is easy on the fingers. You have to develop your callouses and deaden the nerve endings which you do by playing a lot. Otherwise these are excellent strings. I've been using D'Addario for decades.

Answer:	Sounds like your "acoustic wide neck guitar" is a classical guitar. If so, you should stick with nylon. There are lots of different brands and types of nylon strings. If you are not liking the sound you are getting, try a different brand and weight. If you want to change to steel strings, you should get a guitar intended to use steel strings. Just FYI, these silk and steel are pretty mellow ("warm"). If you want a "brighter" sound, you should try a different string on a guitar intended to use steel strings.

Answer:	They are intended for steel-strung guitars. They should work fine on acoustical, acoustical-electric, or even electric guitars. I am using these on all of my guitars. They are called "Silk & Steel" as the outer layer is a combination of a silk & steel interwinding over a steel core. Obviously the unwrapped strings are steel only. These strings produce a mellow tone and I also like the fact that they are silver-colored instead of brass. The silk makes them a bit easier on your fingers and quieter when sliding your fingers.

Question:	Wait a second, the title for the item is flattened, the description page says roundwound, and one of the answers says they are halfwound. Which is it
Answer:	I struggle with growing degenerative arthritis, and have to go to lighter and lighter strings. I have 10-52 D'Addario electric strings on one acoustic that are lighter than the 10-47 Flat Tops on my other, which feel much stiffer and are louder and fuller.
Question:	Anyone using these for fingerstyle blues? What do you think of them
Answer:	It would be pretty risky unless you tune down at least one full step. Heavy strings can do serious damage to your guitar if it wasn't built to handle them. It would probably be fine for a while but eventually your neck might start to bow which is no big deal if you have a truss rod, but they could also pull your bridge off or even worse cause the whole top of your guitar to belly up. If you want bigger strings for a better slide sound I've always used a standard medium set but swapped the 13 for a 15 or 16. The hi e is really the only one you need to be bigger.
Question:	My old fingers cant manage heavier gage strings anymore. anybody happy with "extra lights" 10-47's ? is the ease of play worth the loss in tone
Answer:	Meh. Not much. Right after I put these on, I thought they were a touch brighter than the 80/20's I replaced. But, after only 10-20 hours of playing, I think the difference faded away. I don't hear any noticeable audible difference anymore. I do notice, however, that they oxidize much faster. The parts of the strings that I play frequently are bright bronze color, while the other parts are dingy/near black. That's likely just cosmetic, but it ain't nothin'.

Answer:	Taylor guitars prefer brighter sounding strings. These strings don't match the natural bright sound but they are durable.

Answer:	I only play fingerstyle, and I play blues, jazz, pop...I LOVE these strings. If you're not plugged in you may notice a little less volume. Nothing drastic. They sound a bit more "warm." Slides are sweet. They're not that expensive. (I have used another brand that cost something like $30. They are a little nicer, but I can't afford that luxury all the time.) Try a set. Your fingers will thank you.
