Answer:	The web site is mistaken. The ladder extends to 15.5 ft...but would only get a person up safely to about 11 ft. Need good amount of lean onto the building and up a foot or so past the roofline. Don't go near the top rung to stand. I do enjoy the ladder and its compact feature when not in use. If you are over 200 lbs, you will need the most sturdy ladder they make. At 180, this does have a bit of bow when I am on it. Hope this helps. LTD

Answer:	Yeah, put the bar where it's supposed to go, up against those little plastic tabs, and pound it in to place with your palm (or hammer if need be). They'll break off allowing you to slot the feet into where they need to be to align the slots with the bolts. I'm not making this up. That's how crappy this product is. You literally have to snap off molding tabs in order to get the parts to line up. Worst. Ladder. Ever. But you'll find that out once you get past this step and on to trying to actually use the darn thing.

Answer:	The best suggestion I can give is to experiment with it on the lawn or in the garage until he becomes familiar with all of it's moves While doing this visualize where he would use it. Question:	How do you attach the tray as there is no instructions for that
Answer:	Unfortunately, no. The fit tolerance is limited by design to 28.5" to 48". There isn't opportunity to modify this.
Question:	How high off ground is top usable step
Answer:	HY-C Smoke Guards install with spring tension like a shower curtain rod.
Question:	is it possible to separate the two sides
Answer:	I didn't try to shorten, but it's to pieces of metal that fit together, so my guess is the minimum size is literally what the two pieces combined at it's smallest size.
Question:	Can this ladder be used on a stairs
Answer:	You can only use this if you are looking to close off the flue while the fireplace is NOT in use. If you are wanting to use this to plug the flue so you can keep the heat and fumes in the house while the vent free gas log is buring, that is not advisable at all. On a side note, vent free gas logs and their effect on indoor air have been studied closely by a University of Illinois - Champagne/Urbana study back in 2007. Because of the results of that study there are many fireplace professionals that do not install or service them. I really recommend you do some googling on that topic, before you set up to use a vent free gas log.
