3 best exhaust fan with humidity sensors
An exhaust fan with humidity sensors is a type of ventilation fan designed to improve indoor air quality by automatically detecting and removing excess moisture and humidity from the air in areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, and other enclosed spaces. These fans are commonly used in residential and commercial settings and offer several benefits:
Humidity Sensing Technology: The key feature of these fans is their humidity-sensing technology. They are equipped with built-in humidity sensors that continuously monitor the moisture levels in the room's air. When the humidity exceeds a preset threshold, the fan automatically turns on to help reduce excess moisture.
Improved Indoor Air Quality: By removing excess humidity and moisture, these fans help prevent the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria, which can thrive in damp environments. This leads to better indoor air quality and a healthier living or working environment.
Energy Efficiency: Exhaust fans with humidity sensors are energy-efficient because they operate only when needed. They don't run continuously, which saves energy and reduces electricity costs compared to traditional fans that may run continuously or be manually operated.
Automatic Operation: The automatic operation of these fans eliminates the need for manual switching, making them convenient for users. You don't have to remember to turn the fan on and off; it does so automatically based on humidity levels.
Variable Speeds: Some models offer variable speed settings, allowing you to customize the fan's performance based on your needs. Higher fan speeds can quickly remove excess humidity, while lower speeds can maintain a comfortable humidity level.
Timer Functionality: In addition to humidity sensing, some exhaust fans also come with built-in timers. Users can set the fan to run for a specific duration, even after humidity levels have dropped to ensure thorough ventilation.
Quiet Operation: Many modern exhaust fans are designed to operate quietly, minimizing noise disruption in living spaces.
Installation Options: Exhaust fans with humidity sensors are available in various sizes and installation types, including ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, and inline models, making it easier to find one that suits your space and needs.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the fan and checking the sensor's accuracy, is essential to ensure proper operation over time.
Compliance with Building Codes: In some regions, building codes require the installation of exhaust fans with humidity sensors in certain areas, such as bathrooms, to meet ventilation and moisture control standards.
In summary, exhaust fans with humidity sensors are valuable additions to homes and buildings, as they automatically detect and address excess humidity, promoting better indoor air quality and reducing the risk of moisture-related issues like mold and mildew. Their energy-efficient and automatic operation makes them a convenient and effective solution for maintaining healthy and comfortable indoor environments.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be operated with just a single-pole light switch? Or does it require multiple switches |
Answer: | Yes, one switch is fine. I have two installed. First floor bathroom is controlled by one switch -it controls everything (so low speed fan and light come on together and humidity will kick in a higher speed only when switch is on). The upstairs bath (used more for showering) has 2 switches, so a separate light (able to dim it) and fan function switch, but again humidity function only works if fan is on (I set to low speed default). I guess to use all 3 functions separately it should have 3 switches, but I installed with pre-existing wiring and wasn’t paying to upgrade my wiring. I used what we had and yes, it functions fine for me. Personally I love them, they are super quiet and work awesome!!! |
Question: | I don't have access to the attic. Can this be installed from below |
Answer: | No, it cannot. This fan is designed for new construction, to be installed before the drywall is put up. Certain features of the housing make this unsuitable for retrofit. For example: The exhaust duct outlet is installed external to the housing. You really need attic access to connect the exhaust outlet. Otherwise you'll have to fish it by hand from below through a roughly 5" x 5" opening after the housing is installed and blindly guide it back into its brackets. The hanger bar brackets (external) and the exhaust outlet brackets are as wide as the face flange. So you'll need to cut a hole as large or larger than the face flange then caulk/great stuff to seal the gap. The joist mounting bracket are very strong and cannot be bent by hand. You"ll have to cut them off and then drill new mounting holes inside the housing. There are other fans available that are much better for retrofit applications. |
Question: | Is this rated for use over a shower if on a GFCI circuit |
Answer: | Yes. The installation instructions say that as long as it is places on a GFCI protected circuit it can be placed in a shower ceiling. http://www.deltabreez.com/Upload/SalesBinder/5_IM/3_GreenBuilder/GBR80LED_IM_e.pdf See #8 of the General Safety information.Just for your information, this fan can not be placed on a timer. This is a known issue by Delta, and they are working to design a timer for the unit. The fan amperage is so low that the a switch does not recognize the draw. The fan just cycles and never gets up to speed. The fan is also a bit louder than I anticipated. Nothing I can't live with, but a bit noisier than I thought it would be. The LED light on the unit is great! We are very happy with the warm light that is puts out. |
Question: | I installed the 80cf with led (no humidity sensor). when turning it on it starts slow and then takes 5ish seconds to reach full speed. is that normal |
Answer: | Regarding the observation of the slow start of Delta Breez ventilation fans uses sophisticated Brushless DC Motor technology. In the first 10 Seconds the fan is powered on, the motor will softly and quickly ramp up to full speed. This is unlike an AC Motor, which simply jump-starts the fan. This quiet "soft start" process helps reduce the wear on the motor bearings to prolong fan life. |

Why is Ventilation Important?
Many of today's homes are airtight and highly insulated, which are good for cost and energy effective temperature control, but terrible for indoor air quality. Without adequate exhausting and exchange of indoor air to the outdoors, the concentration of pollutants indoors is often many times higher than that of the outdoors. To improve indoor air quality, pollutants must be exhausted, indoor air must be replaced by fresh outside air, and moisture must be controlled. This is best accomplished using ventilation systems.

User questions & answers
Question: | My current light/fan combo that I'm replacing is situated in the shower which is 48"x36". is this fan rated to be installed in the shower |
Answer: | Great question. It varies depending on species. However bats will, on average, cover a few mile area in dinning on bugs. Hope that helps. |
Question: | What size is the exhaust duct for this fan |
Answer: | The darker the color the more heat the bat house absorbs from the sun. The lighter the color of the less heat the bat house absorbs. |
Question: | Does the mode change every time the fan turns off, or only change from automatic to manual with a quick off/on? I want to keep it on auto |
Answer: | From what I’ve read, areas that suggest using dark brown can also use black. I think it has to do with the colors ability to absorb light/heat for the bats to roost in. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the unit? Size of the opening in the ceiling required |
Answer: | Ideally 12’ or higher. The minimum recommended height is 10 feet off the ground. Thanks |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this fan have continuous flow |
Answer: | No, it does not have continuous flow. It has a senor to movement and also humidity. Living in California it’s sometimes kicks on for no apparent reason. I can hear it in my master bathroom and I am a light sleeper but it’s not annoying... yet... lol. I think it is a little louder than a ‘wisper’ Though |
Question: | This fan is IAQ |
Answer: | If your definition of IAQ is Indoor Air Quality, yes this fan will affect it by taking the moist or odoriferous bathroom air out of the bathroom. The make up air from the rest of the dwelling should be of lower humidity and will help dry out the space to prevent mold. Remember, a bucket of air out, you need a bucket of air in. The make up air has to come from somewhere. The four P's of indoor air quality are Path Pollution Pressure People. You need to control the air path towards people by controlling the pressure or pollution. Using a bathroom fan creates a negative pressure pathway. The EPA website has lots of information on this. |
Question: | What is the Volt- amperage rating for this fan |
Answer: | Nominal 120 volts AC. The exact amperage consumption will depend on options and how it is setup. The fan speed, back pressure, and lights are all subject to change. |
Question: | Dc fan? what meaning dc is? dirrect current |
Answer: | Only motor. All fans like this are AC to the fan. Then fan has a inverter to.DC to run the motor. |
