14 best baseboard heaters
Baseboard heaters are a type of electric heating system commonly used in residential and commercial buildings to provide zone-based heating. They are often found in individual rooms or zones, allowing occupants to control the temperature in specific areas. Here's what you should know about baseboard heaters:
Design: Baseboard heaters consist of a metal or plastic housing that runs along the base of a wall near the floor. Inside the housing, there are heating elements, typically made of metal or ceramic, which heat up when electricity is applied. The heat generated rises, warming the air in the room.
Electric Heating: Baseboard heaters are powered by electricity. When you turn them on, electricity flows through the heating elements, causing them to heat up. This radiant heat warms the room gradually and can be controlled using a thermostat.
Thermostats: Baseboard heaters are often equipped with built-in thermostats or connected to wall-mounted thermostats. These thermostats allow users to set the desired temperature and maintain a consistent level of warmth in the room. Some models even offer programmable thermostats for customized heating schedules.
Silent Operation: One advantage of baseboard heaters is their silent operation. They do not use fans or blowers, so there is no noise associated with their heating process.
Zonal Heating: Baseboard heaters are ideal for zonal heating, which means you can heat individual rooms independently. This allows for energy savings by only heating occupied spaces, reducing overall energy consumption.
Installation: Installing baseboard heaters typically involves mounting them to the wall and connecting them to the electrical system. They are often hardwired into the building's electrical system, so professional installation may be required.
Safety Features: Most baseboard heaters come with safety features such as thermal cutoff switches that turn off the unit if it overheats. This helps prevent fires and ensures safe operation.
Maintenance: Baseboard heaters are relatively low-maintenance. Periodic cleaning to remove dust and debris from the heating elements can help maintain their efficiency. Additionally, inspecting the wiring and electrical connections is essential to ensure safety.
Efficiency: The efficiency of baseboard heaters can vary depending on factors like insulation, room size, and thermostat settings. While they can be cost-effective for zonal heating, they may not be the most energy-efficient option for whole-house heating.
Cost: The cost of baseboard heaters varies based on factors like size, brand, and features. They are generally more affordable to install compared to central heating systems but may have higher operating costs depending on electricity rates.
In summary, baseboard heaters are electric heating devices designed for zonal heating in homes and buildings. They are known for their simplicity, silent operation, and ability to provide individualized control over room temperatures through built-in or external thermostats. When properly installed and maintained, baseboard heaters can be an effective heating solution for various spaces.

User questions & answers
Question: | Dual Wattage, does that mean it can be hard wired |
Answer: | No, this unit was not designed to be hard wired. It has a suitable electrical cord with a plug on it, intended to be plugged into a 20 amp wall outlet. Dual wattage means it has a high and a low heat output, which is controlled by a switch that comes on the unit. |
Question: | Is there any sort of safety screen for this? I'd be concerned about small things falling into it, or children pushing small toys into it |
Answer: | There is no safety screen at all on this heater. You may be able to attach a heat resistant mesh on the outside of the heater for little hands/small things not to find their way into the heater. The heating element does sit way back and inferiorly on the heater but without the screen it is pretty easy for curious hands to find their way into it. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is this on oil filled heater |
Answer: | No. It's a convection resistor with fins. |
Question: | I just purchased and set up and indeed the smell is awful. For those who stuck it out, how long until the smell dissipates |
Answer: | It's been a while since I purchased mine, but I left it on for a couple of hours in my garage before I started using it, and there's no smell at all when I use it now. |

Question: | I returned you product to a local Kohls and i received an email today that the product was never received. Can you give me some info on this please |
Answer: | This is a link from Home Depot I used when I purchased mine. https://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/0c/0c48b303-97be-48ec-82b6-ff341b740842.pdf excellent heater. I love it |
Question: | What size room with minimal insulation will this heat |
Answer: | You may use an extension cord that is designed to handle 15 amps. This cord can pull up to 12 amps. A good appliance style, one outlet 3 prong 12 gauge cord will handle this. Do not plug anything else into this cord. Always use the shortest length extension cord possible. IE Don't use a 25' extension cord for this 8 foot run. A six foot 12 g. 3 prong would be all that is needed. |
Question: | do all the cadet thermostat come with a wiring diagram |
Answer: | my experience is a 300 to 500 sq ft. but it also depends on how high the ceilings are. This is great heater, but dont expect it to be quick heating. Takes about 15 minutes for the room to heat up. |
Question: | Does this unit have any sort of control? thermostat? on-off switch? high-low control |
Answer: | there is a control, you can set so that it keeps the area heated but it 1000w all the time turn it down it comes on less. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i wire 2 or 3 of them together an what size breaker |
Answer: | When the A is ON the thermostat is controlling heat. Use + or - to set desired temp. When the A is OFF, the heater is simply on and heating away. If it's in a small room (10x10 say) it can easily heat that space to 90 degrees. So use the thermostat. |
Question: | Does this require a single pole or double pole t-stat |
Answer: | It's completely dark. No glowing. The only light emitted is from a digital display. |
Question: | Anyone aware of the energy efficiency of this heater |
Answer: | the 5622 is white, the 5620 is grey and the 5624 is black. I can't seem to find any other differences. You can check it out for yourself here: http://www.laskoproducts.com/low-profile-heaters/ |
Question: | getting this for a 4 season porch. I need a separate thermostat. Will this work with the Nest thermostat |
Answer: | It's not going right to 77.... it's saying that the temperature in the room is 77. The digital display will always read the current temperature in the room, so if you're setting it to keep the room at 73, then it won't come on if it's already 77. If you're not warm enough, then you'll have to set it higher than what the thermometer on the heater is reading. |

Product features
Made in Germany
All CK heaters are made by us in our factory in Germany. We pride ourselves on a reputation for engineering & manufacturing excellence since 1924.
Ultra quiet fan
CK and CKT heaters have galvanized steel, squirrel cage type blowers that operate at a quiet 49.7 dB(a). The glass-reinforced poly-carbonate, radial type blower in CK Trend heaters operates at an even quieter 49 dB(a).
Even-heating down-draft design
CK and CKT heaters pull in cool room air from the top and blow warm air out the bottom. This down-draft design helps to evenly heat a space for maximum comfort.
Stand-alone or supplemental heat
CK heaters can be the sole heat source for small rooms. They can also supplement heat to a room that doesn’t get warm enough from a central source, as sometimes happens with a mini-split retrofit.
Built-in thermostat
All CK heaters have an integral thermostat for easy heat adjustment. CK and CKT heaters can be controlled by a wall thermostat in a room larger than 215 sq. ft.
Booster timer on CKT
The CKT booster timer outputs heat at maximum for up to 60 minutes. When the timer goes off, the CKT reverts to its thermostat setting, maintaining comfort at the original setting.
Frost protection setting
CK heaters have a frost protection setting. The lowest thermostat setting will maintain above freezing temperatures in an appropriately sized space.
CK Trend On/Off Switch
The CK Trend’s convenient and positive on/off switch completely shuts the heater off when it is not needed. The off position will disable the frost protection setting.
Installation notes
These heaters are not supplied with a cord and must be hard-wired.
CK and CKT models stick out 5“ from the wall and the CK Trend models 5⅛”.
Because these are fan heaters that blow warm air out the bottom, the recommended installation location is about 6-8” off floor, with 4” for a minimum.
All CK heaters should be mounted vertically.
Observe all installation manual precautions regarding minimum allowed clearances between the installed appliance and any hard surfaces.
Do not allow combustible materials on or near the heater.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you control the temperature |
Answer: | It has a thermostadt that can be digitaly set to the desired temp. Now whether it can be set as low as 45 degrees I am not sure but you surely can set if for 50 degrees and it will function very well. I have a 400 square foot den and on the coldest days, and I am talking 20 degrees below, it will run you out of the room when set on 70 degrees. I had to set it at about 65 degrees to tolerate the heat. This heater really performs well. To answer your question will it turn off once the temp is reached...the answer is YES it will and turn on when it drops below the desired temp too. |
- Baseboarders Basic Series Set includes one panel with a left and right closed end cap to cover any standard sized baseboard heater. If necessary, panels can easily be cut to fit your heater length
- Baseboarders Basic Series end caps, corners, and couplers are only compatible with our own branded Basic Series panels. They will not retrofit to existing baseboard heaters without a Basic Series Panel. This ensures the best fit, and safety design- both child proof and pet proof- for a modern, ultra clean look
- Easy DIY installation- no tools or hired help is needed. Snap the Baseboarders end caps on to the Baseboarders replacement cover panel and position the assembly onto the original backplate. With a firm push, the assembly slips into place over the original baseboard heater.
- All Baseboarders products are galvanized steel with a powder coated semi-gloss white finish. Panels are fabricated in 24 gauge galvanized steel. Endcaps are fabricated in 22 gauge galvanized steel. The panel holes are 1/8” in diameter to allow proper airflow.
- Intended for hydronic (hot water) baseboard heaters, but will work for electric baseboard heaters. Use basic precautions when using with electric baseboard heaters, as they operate at higher surface temperatures. Baseboarders products will become just as hot as the original.
User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, is this material insulated |
Answer: | negative |
Question: | I see on the pictures that the caps go all the way down to the floor. Mine do not. Not sure if I need to “force” the cover more; worried about breakin |
Answer: | You probably set the clip that holds the main unit too high on the wall. Hence, your end caps aren't reaching the floor, after you snap them on because of your measurement from the floor. I believe it is a specific height you need to screw the holders into the wall. Lower the the unit the distance your short and you should be all set. |
Question: | Are these rust free |
Answer: | We are very happy with these. They are well made and have a substantial glossy finish on them. Look great (so much better than our old flimsy, rusted ones). They have no evidence of rust. |
Question: | These are really expensive for an l bracket. can't i just use standard 2.5" x 2.5" l brackets |
Answer: | The only difference is that they put a fold I the metal so that there is a little space between the bracket and the wall for the lip of the cover to slip into. If you use a regular bracket and put a washer in between the bracket and the wall, I think it would work just as well. |
Product features
Amazingly Durable
Each Baseboarders Basic panel and accessory is made of hiqh quality steel, is professionally powder-coated and will not rust.
Designed with Safety In Mind
Single piece panel construction ensures proper airflow around the heating element while prohibiting direct access to it, making it safer for children and pets.
Easy Slip-on Installation
Installation is an easy DIY project, requiring no tools or hired help. Simply remove the existing baseboard heater endcaps and front cover panel, snap your new Baseboarders Endcaps onto your Baseboarders panel, position the Baseboarders assembly onto the original back plate & push down firmly into place, that's it — you're done!
STEP 1: Remove one endcap and the front panel. Measure between the floor and the top of the heater.
- Objective: 7.5" or greater
- If less than 7.5" use the Wall Brackets (WB001) for mounting. This will bring the height up by a minimum of 1.25".
STEP 2: Measure from the bottom of the heating element to the top of the heater.
- Objective: Between 5″ and 6.75″
- If less than 5″ use the Wall Brackets (WB001) for mounting. If the distance is greater than 6.75″, the Premium TALL profile should be used.
STEP 3: Measure from the outside face of the finned tube heating element to the back plate.
- Objective: Less than 3.25″
- If larger 4″ x 4″ or 4″ x 6″ commercial style element is in place, a wood molding will solve the depth issue.
STEP 4: Measure for length and layout
- There is no need for fractional or perfect measurements. Each endcap can offer up to 1.75" for a total of 3.5" when using an endcap at both ends of the panel.
- Standard straight lengths are measured from end to end using the original back plate. If a straight section is missing the back plate, measure from one extreme end of desired coverage to the other extreme end of coverage. Then subtract 1″. This is the ideal panel length.
- Baseboard heaters longer than 6′ will require the use of multiple panels and couplers to register the ends together. Example: 8′ = Two 4′ panels and a Baseboarders Basic Coupler to connect them.
- If Inside Corners are required, panel lengths can be determined by: a. Removing endcaps, b. Measuring side 1 from pipe to corner, c. Subtract 3'' for depth of the adjacent cover, d. Repeat with side 2.

User questions & answers
Question: | is this unit white? or a beige color as shown in the photo |
Answer: | More an Almond color, not as dark as a beige might be. Nice unit working well. Worth the extra money to not have unit that gets extremely hot as do standard baseboard units. |
Question: | What is the square footage of space that this unit will heat comfortably |
Answer: | This is difficult to answer as it depends on the insulation integrity of the space being heated (e.g., how much heat is lost), and the VOLUME of the space (ceiling height). Also, how many of the walls are exterior walls, and how many windows there are and their heat loss. You might find some heat system design calculators on line to help with this. |
Question: | The info sheet data tells me the unit is only 2.9 inches wide. That could not be correct. What is the actual width of this heater |
Answer: | The Fahrenheat baseboard heaters are uniformly 2.9" (2-7/8") deep (or thick) and 8.4" (8-3/8") high (or tall). The length or width varies with the wattage; I have 1500-watt units that are 70" long. Go to the Lowe's website to get trustworthy length/width measurements. |
Question: | Are these quieter than a traditional electric baseboard heater? The frequent tick tick tick of our current heater makes us crazy at night |
Answer: | To be completely honest, I never hear this running. It is in my home office which is a closed room and I never even know its on except the room is toasty and warm. This office is in an outside building on my property and it is right now 10 degrees outside and snowing and it is 67 cozy degrees in here. So short answer, no you never hear this running. |

Question: | Are you able to change the temp using google home? How do you get google home to tell you the current temp in F |
Answer: | One should cover a average to large bedroom easily. |
Question: | Does this heater allow you to start at a specific time? For example, start at 6am with plans to wake up at 7am |
Answer: | I don't know. I can tell to you that we take them to hotels all the time. For both deodorizing and to kill germsome. We usually check in and get them going. Go have dinner. Come back and cut air on and room smells like it just rained!! Plus all the bacteria are clobbered too. |
Question: | How do I know if this is 'energy efficient' as the description claims |
Answer: | It is an ozone generator and it definatly does work. I just read the box and it doesn't say anything about negative ions but if I leave it on full blast over night, my livingroom/kitchen smells like a pool area |
Question: | Is there an automatic shut-off feature after a certain number of hours of operation |
Answer: | After 4 months the $0.20 Chinese fan got very very loud. I would have to repeatedly tap the device for it to get quiet. After seconds or hours it would get loud again. After 6 months it is always very very loud. |

For maximum, steady heat with a gentle and comfortable effect, the Fahrenheat PLF Liquid Filled Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heater is the solution. This hard-wired UL-listed unit uses liquid-element technology, which makes it cool to the touch. This feature makes it an excellent choice to use just about anywhere, since it’s safe for kids and pets. The large element reservoir maximizes volume of heat storage fluid for prolonged comfort while maintaining individual room temperature, so you’re only heating the rooms you want. The linear high-temperature safety cutout automatically shuts off the unit if the air is blocked, and the tip-over switch prevents it from operating if it’s knocked over. The sleek, contemporary design seamlessly blends into most room aesthetics. Thanks to the high-impact Lexan ends and steel body, this heater resists dents, scratches, and rust. Fahrenheat is part of the Marley Engineered Products family, which provides a wide range of innovative, quality engineered, commercial, industrial, and residential electric comfort heaters and ventilation solutions. All our products are engineered with aesthetics, functionality, safety, and structural tolerance in mind. Prevent the insertion of foreign objects and other airflow blockages with this hydronic baseboard heater; its welded bar grille offers maximum airflow without allowing entry points for tampering. Wire up and connect this baseboard heater quickly and easily with its large wiring compartment, dual knockouts and built-in cable clamp; you can connect it to power from either side or even chain multiple units together. Hard-wired unit; 46 in. length; 240-Volt, 1000-Watt, 4.1 Amp; field-installed thermostat.
- USE ANYWHERE DESIGN: This heating unit provides gentle heat with maximum efficiency. Its hydronic design and safety grille means it stays cool to touch while providing unobstructed radiant heat, making it safe to use around small children and pets.
- OPTIMAL HEAT: The low-profile design makes it perfect for home use in bedrooms, basements, bathrooms, and living rooms, and perfect for commercial use in waiting rooms, day cares, offices, and more.
- EASY TO INSTALL: This unit can mount directly to any wall, and flat on the floor to wood, tile, and even carpet; the trim and low operating temperature allows for carpeting to be installed around it.
- SAFE AND EFFICIENT: This energy-efficient design reduces unnecessary on/off cycles, and the overheat protection feature prevents the heater from running when its air intake is blocked, reducing risk of fire.
- QUIET AND EFFECTIVE: The convection heater operates without the annoying popping and pinging noise that many other models give off. The fan-less operation keeps dust, allergens, and dander from circulating through the room.
User questions & answers
Question: | Multiple packs prices are incorrect: 1pk- $166.00, 2pk- $644.00, 3pk-$996.00, 4pk- $1,328.00, 5pk- $260.82. can I buy the 5pk for |
Answer: | We're all customers like you. Best if you talk directly to the manufacturer or Amazon for pricing questions. |
Question: | do these need to be installed by an electrician? or do they just plug in |
Answer: | Electrician. In all loving kindness, if you don't understand that this is a 220-240 volt appliance and not the 110-120 volt appliance, then you wouldn't have the expertise to install this yourself. 110-120 volt circuits are what you normally plug your toaster, computer, TV, hair dryer, etc. into, that is, your standard wall plug. 220-240 volt plugs use heavy duty wires and plugs and are used for clothes dryers and kitchen stove/range/ovens. Usually water heaters and baseboard heaters are "hard-wired", that is, bypassing any plug-in and being permanently wired into the 220-240 circuit. You must also have a 220-240 volt circuit breaker in your electrical service box and a 220-240 volt circuit wired to the room you wish to have your heater installed - unless you are replacing a previous 220-240 volt heater. Putting in that type of circuit, stringing the wire from your service box to the room, would be a major task and expense, and require a permit from the local building authority as well as a certified electrician to do the work. |
Question: | how long is this heater |
Answer: | the heater is 116.cm, 46 inches or real close to 4 feet long |
Question: | Is this a left or right wire |
Answer: | Left wire install was seamless. I can't remember if it had a right side option. |
Question: | Can i wire 2 or 3 of them together an what size breaker |
Answer: | I have 3 of them hooked together. An 8', 4' and 2' one. They are on a 20 amp breaker. Always check with an electrician. |
Question: | Does this require a single pole or double pole t-stat |
Answer: | Double pole 20 AMP breaker and buy a thermostat individually that mounts to either end or wall thermostat? |
Question: | Anyone aware of the energy efficiency of this heater |
Answer: | This is just a standard 1000W baseboard heater there is no efficiency about it. You need a thermostat To control this unit either a wall or unit mount. And the heater will run until it reaches the temp you want. |
Question: | getting this for a 4 season porch. I need a separate thermostat. Will this work with the Nest thermostat |
Answer: | No, Nest thermostats don’t operate at “line” voltage(220volts). They operate at much lower voltage and cannot control resistance baseboard type heaters. I’ve been looking for such a smart “line” voltage thermostat and so far haven’t been able to find one. |
