We are off grid and I really wanted a smart thermostat so I could turn my pellet stove "off" remotely if I was concerned about the battery status before we could get back & turn the gen on (it'll be nice once the auto gen start is in place and the battery voltages are managed by our inverter).

Answer:	I have a 5 year old Lux Thermostat. When we bought a new Rheem this past summer, the technician pulled the batteries out of it saying they were not needed. End result, is every time we have a power outage, the thermostat looses it's programming. it losses it when we change back and forth from heat to cool also. I'd be wary of any advice about removing batteries unless you're sure that it does not affect the thermostat memory. i say this as the A/C is on and it's program is set on 72 degrees. i had it set on 75 and have not attempted to reprogram it since that would be just a temporary fix it resets down to 72 often not sure why.

Answer:	I just went to Best Buy to play with the RTH9585WF and see what is the difference in the settings. Color options do seem to be slightly different. Both have 7 day programing (four settings per day) plus vacation etc. The literature says the 9585 automatically switches between cool/heat but in 9585 system (MODE) there is only "heat", "cool" and "off". So my guess is the automatic is not a setting you pick. 9560 offers the forth option of automatic and will show heat and cool adjustments on the home page setting on the panel. Other than that I do not see any difference. My guess is the 9585 has a newer chip set but honestly I have no idea. I called Honeywell and the tech could not even tell me the difference other than it's the second generation model. Both work with Alexa and other smart devices and smart hubs. I'm still thinking of returning the 9580 for the 9585 but if I have to switch between heat and cold that is a deal breaker and I kind of like seeing the date when I walk buy. My guess is in a few years Honeywell will over a unit to compete with the Ecobee with something like Alexa built into it. Frankly, I'd purchase the Ecobeen 4 but my wife of 35 years thought the Ecobeen being black and kind of large and the white mounting plate was ugly and after 35 years of marriage I felt like this decision was not worth the fight.

What caused you to think you needed a transformer? Are you running this stand-alone without a doorbell, or is your existing doorbell transformer lower than 16 volts ac or lower than 20 VA?

The biggest problem with this thermostat is the unreliable remote connectivity ever since Honeywell spun off their thermostat division 6 months ago. Now it’s frequent periods of time where the thermostat will not respond to remote commands. It’s maddening

Answer:	When you put it on circulate, the fan comes on for about 10 minutes every 20 minutes or so. The owners manual says it runs about 35% of the time. I used this feature this Fall with the system off (no heat or a/c) just to circulate the air through my Filtrete filters.

Answer:	Though Lux tries to sell this for its own thermostats, it should work with the older ecobee Smart Si; ecobee's Power Extender Kit (PEK) for that model was sold separately and, like the Lux, used an extra component behind the wall (besides the actual kit at the furnace or zone panel) to multiplex other wires so another wire could become the C-wire. The first-gen PEK, like the Si, is no longer being made but can still be ordered from certain HVAC supply houses. You can also use the Venstar Add-A-Wire Kit (the most popular one) or other third-party C-wire adapters made for smart thermostats in general; those come with an in-wall multiplexing component as well. Later ecobee models (ecobee3, ecobee3 lite, ecobee4, ecobee SmartThermostat with voice control) come with a PEK designed for that model in the box; use that instead of this device. Those ecobees have internal multiplexing logic for their own PEKs that may not be compatible with other adapters like the Lux. (Same goes for many Honeywell WiFi thermostats as well.)

Answer:	Yes, you want to turn off power at the furnace. If the thermostat wires touch each other it can blow a fuse in the furnace.
Question:	I have power blinks often. If there is no battery backup with the Lyric T5 does that require me to reenter the schedule each time power goes off
Answer:	This model does not have terminal strip connections for emergency/auxiliary heat. The TH6220D has additional functionality for emergency/auxiliary heat. See instructions for 1C/2H installations.
Question:	Echo dot - what are all the voice commands to control lyric t5 honeywell thermostat
Answer:	the answer is in the product number. 6110 does 1 heat & 1 cool. 6220 does 2 heat and 2 cool, 6320 does 3 heat and 2 cool.
Question:	Can this be installed without a c wire. i only have 3 wires: rh, rc and w
Answer:	Yes, but it must be configured to do so. If you see only "heat/cool/off" in the mode screen, then press "fan" and "up" simultaneously. When the screen changes, press "next" until you reach option 12. Setting "0" enables "heat/cool/off" in the mode screen, while setting"1" enables "heat/cool/auto/off." Setting "3" is "auto/off" only. When you press "done," your mode screen will show the option you selected. FYI: In "auto" mode, the "heat" temperature at any time must always be at least 3 degrees less than the "cool" temperature.
