Programming a new remote

1. Select the correct brand for remote to be programmed by moving dip switches UP or DOWN. For example 433,92Mhz Marantec remote controls, just move Dip-switch 7 UP.

2.Press the learn button. The will LED turn on.

3.Press the button on the remote, the LED flashes 4 times. It means that remote control was programmed successfully.

4.Repeat step 2 for another button.

5.The 2-nd channel programming procedure is the same.

Erase all data from the memory card: Press and hold either learn button. The LED will start flash. Keep this button pressed, until the LED will turn off. All saved data in the memory card will be erased permanently and can not be recovered

Answer:	Not sure about the fit on that particular shotgun barrel. In perspective, this has a diameter opening bigger than the size of US $1 coin. That's with the screws securely fastened. Answer:	I called Honeywell and was told the "C" wire is blue and in fact mine is blue. I have no black wire. I have 5 wires yellow, white, blue, green and red. I was told I could check for AC voltage by connecting my meter to the red and blue wires. The Honeywell tech was very helpful. 800 468-1502.

Answer:	There is no functional difference between the two. This TH9320WF5003 is white and the RTH9580WF1005 is silver. The RTH9580WF1005 is the retail model with a 1 year warranty and this one is intended to be a contractor only model with a 5 year warranty. Honeywell's former policy was that the TH9320WF5003 warranty wouldn't be honored if not installed by a contractor. However, they have since changed this. You now get 1 year with this too if you install it yourself.

All program and installer set up functions are saved on to a chip and retained in case of a power outage. It does utilize a super capacitor for short term retention of the clock. If there is a lengthy power outage and if the RTH6580WF is connected to the internet, when power is restored it will automatically resynchronize with the internet time.

Answer:	If you have no Internet, this thermostat will simply operate as a non-WiFi enabled programmable thermostat (e.g., follow the schedule that you previously created) OR you use the buttons on it to adjust it manually. The only thing you lose with not having the Internet is the ability to use your phone to interact with it (e.g., change the settings and/or update the schedule). Just pretend like it is 1970 and adjust the thermostat like your parents did.

Answer:	I did the following in a two-wire heat-only setup and it worked: 1) On the back panel of the new thermostat, remove the small jumper between the RC and R connectors. 2) Connect the outputs of a 24V AC transformer (I happened to use https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DJ7RHS5?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image) to the RC and C connectors on the new thermostat back panel. It does not matter which of these two wires goes to RC and which goes to C. 3) Connect the wire that had gone to either RC or R on the old thermostat to the R connector on the new thermostat back panel. Connect the wire that had gone to W on the old thermostat to the W connector on the new thermostat back panel. 4) Plug in the transformer to a nearby 120 V outlet. Snap the body of the new thermostat onto its back panel. Continue with the instructions provided with the new thermostat.

The biggest problem with this thermostat is the unreliable remote connectivity ever since Honeywell spun off their thermostat division 6 months ago. Now it’s frequent periods of time where the thermostat will not respond to remote commands. It’s maddening
Question:	What if i have a C wire
Answer:	When you put it on circulate, the fan comes on for about 10 minutes every 20 minutes or so. The owners manual says it runs about 35% of the time. I used this feature this Fall with the system off (no heat or a/c) just to circulate the air through my Filtrete filters.

Answer:	Yes, the app lets you set multiple locations and also multiple thermostats within each location. I use two separate locations (home and cottage) and one location has two thermostats (wood and LP). I find it easier to set everything up via the web interface (mytotalconnectcomfort) and then use the web or the app to manage the thermostats.
Question:	Will this work with a baseboard radiant heater like a cadet
Answer:	Otherwise known as a common wire. The c wire is connected to the heating and or cooling system. It gives you direct power from the thermostat instead of using a battery operated thermostat.

Answer:	It comes with an adapter if you do not have a "C" wire, you just have to install the adapter to the control board for your HVAC system, and then your wires going back to your thermostat to the adapter, installation / instruction manual walks you thru this step by step and includes labels for all the wiring on both ends

Answer:	You can but Alexa will only answer on the one that it hears most clearly. We have a dot in the kitchen, and living room and the ecobee in the hall they are all 3 are within 10-15 feet on the next one and only one answers when we speak to Alexa.

Answer:	Just so it's clear, I've seen no evidence that the microphone can actually be turned off at a hardware level. This means that no, the mic cannot be truly turned off with regards to nefarious parties listening in to your home.

Answer:	This Thermostat truly Rocks!! - It has a screen lock as well as Security codes for front panel access. It also has security if you want to use WiFi to remotely access it. Setup is a breeze also. I HIGHLY recommend this thermostat. The NEST is an excellent choice as well.

Answer:	I have a 5 year old Lux Thermostat. When we bought a new Rheem this past summer, the technician pulled the batteries out of it saying they were not needed. End result, is every time we have a power outage, the thermostat looses it's programming. it losses it when we change back and forth from heat to cool also. I'd be wary of any advice about removing batteries unless you're sure that it does not affect the thermostat memory. i say this as the A/C is on and it's program is set on 72 degrees. i had it set on 75 and have not attempted to reprogram it since that would be just a temporary fix it resets down to 72 often not sure why.
Question:	How do I figure out if this will work with my wiring? I read that there might be issues with the electric wires (might be missing one COMMON wire
Answer:	I just went to Best Buy to play with the RTH9585WF and see what is the difference in the settings. Color options do seem to be slightly different. Both have 7 day programing (four settings per day) plus vacation etc. The literature says the 9585 automatically switches between cool/heat but in 9585 system (MODE) there is only "heat", "cool" and "off". So my guess is the automatic is not a setting you pick. 9560 offers the forth option of automatic and will show heat and cool adjustments on the home page setting on the panel. Other than that I do not see any difference. My guess is the 9585 has a newer chip set but honestly I have no idea. I called Honeywell and the tech could not even tell me the difference other than it's the second generation model. Both work with Alexa and other smart devices and smart hubs. I'm still thinking of returning the 9580 for the 9585 but if I have to switch between heat and cold that is a deal breaker and I kind of like seeing the date when I walk buy. My guess is in a few years Honeywell will over a unit to compete with the Ecobee with something like Alexa built into it. Frankly, I'd purchase the Ecobeen 4 but my wife of 35 years thought the Ecobeen being black and kind of large and the white mounting plate was ugly and after 35 years of marriage I felt like this decision was not worth the fight.

Answer:	Yes there’s an auto function. You can set your desire temp and set it to either “heat, cool, auto” and if the thermostat is set to auto, it will adjust to the temp by cooling or heating. If it is set to either heat or cool, then the thermostat will just cut off once it reaches its temperature by heating or cooling. It won’t constantly adjust. Just heat when needing heat. And cool when needing cooling.
