We use bucket loads of them. The distance depends on what speed setting and what your intention is. The faster balls will go further and the system can moved back further without losing height on pitch as quick. 38 MPH or lower you'll need to move the machine a little closer to keep a straight line (small arc pitch) to go over the plate. Best rule of thumb. Try it out and adjust as needed. Some league rules determine distance, so make sure you follow local league regulations. |

| Answer: | It will simulate 70 mph, but not pitch that fast. You have to move it closer, something like 40-38 feet to simulate that speed. The weight of the balls gives them a lot of movement , which gives the appearance that they are going faster. The curves and sliders are the biggest advantage that this machine can give you. It's harder to hit than the real thing, so makse hanging curves look like they are on a tee. A real pitcher can't throw curves or sliders as good as this machine. |
