Answer:	I use it to hit softballs at cages and it works fine. Thick grip and weight might make it awkward to hit fielding practice.

Answer:	The bat is 2 1/4" in diameter at its thickest area. (actually 2.23 inches if you calculate it using the circumference which is 7").Hope this helps.

Answer:	I purchased both the 29" Crusher and the 34" Smasher; they are both wonderful but each has its advantages. The Crusher is shorter and lighter, which makes it easier to swing in the house. The Smasher is longer and heavier, which gives more reach and power. I am 6'0" and weight 200 lbs and if I needed a bat for self defense in the home I would definitely reach for the Crusher. If for some reason I was outside and needed self defense protection, then I would prefer the Smasher for the extra reach. I hope that helps.
