Class 3 is max I'd put this thing through ... but if you are asking that question, maybe you want to start a little less. One man in class 3, and expect to get very wet, and the boat full of water, which you can pump out at the end of the rapid. I think there is a plug at the bottom back to open too, which you can let water out with, on shore ... but the more you open and close this plug, the less it wants to stay closed over time. I used to use it. Now I just turn it upside down on the shore to empty every once in a while. Once in water, you can pump up fully (it goes down a little as the cold water shrinks the air a bit) with your mouth (2 psi?). A lot of fun on moderate rivers. Quite exciting in class 3 - better know how to read water, and know what you are doing! And prepare for a swim!!!! |
