Answer: Why are people STILL believing that this $20 knife is a real KA BAR? Even THIS SELLER has answered this question and he says "No this is NOT a KA BAR but...."!! Come on people. Okay for everyone out there who may some day want or need to by a good quality fixed blade knife, I'll give you 1 piece of advice....if it does NOT advertise itself as having FULL TANG then it is NOT A GOOD QAULITY MANUFACTURED KNIFE! Period!! A full tang knife is manufacture from 1 piece that extends the entire length of the knife. That means through the handle. This obviously makes the knife much stronger but safer to use as well. Knives that are not full tang means its a piece of sharp metal attached to the handle and usually held in place by glue or a couple of screws which creates pressure on the metal, holding it in place. Barely....And only if you look at it. And even then it may fall apart while unwrapping it. Just do yourself a favor and buy FULL TANG if looking for a fixed blade. NOT A KA BAR and THIS Is A DISCRACE! You say this knife is licensed by the Marine Corps huh? Well NO IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So either this seller is lying or they were lie to when purchasing this merchandise! And it maybe the very best glued on knife that the world has ever seen...I don't know. I wouldn't use this to cut out of a paper bag! But if you can wrap the steel with a towel to protect your hand and firmly grab the blade with 1 hand and the handle with your other hand then use the ege of a counter or your knee to press firmly on the handle about a half inch down from where the metal meets the handle, you should here the sound of a refund. It will be in the form of a cracking, or snap sound. Almost exactly how it sounds when you step on a flimsy twig. Officially licensed by the USMC...WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer: Not sure which is better but the Combat Commander is a BEAST! The tang does run through the handle. I have had mine for awhile but only used it once so far with impressive results. We live on a private lake and one afternoon my wife yelled “snake” as a 4’ 6” water moccasin emerged from the water onto the bank. While she backed away and actually shot the snake twice with a high powered pellet rifle, the snake continued in her direction. Meanwhile I immediately thought to quickly grab the sword and head to the lakeside. I could see the two bloody holes in the mid body area from the pellets but the snake was poised to strike and slowly advancing in my wife’s direction when I arrived on the scene. Due to the long 36” length and thick full tang construction, I knew it would be a perfect tool for dispatching the snake. The sword performed incredibly well as it quickly sliced through the snake multiple times like butter even down into the earth several inches after passing through the snake. The sword wasn’t further sharpened as I found the edge to be considerably sharp from the factory. It does take a “man” to swing the sword due to the size and weight but it is definitely “battle ready” and solid as a rock. I own many swords and prefer the saber style but must admit, for the money this sword must be the very best value available and extend my highest regard for its ability to function with deadly results in actual battle conditions.

Answer: Depending what you want to cut. you could whack at just about anything and make a pretty deep cut. It is shipped sharp and has a pretty cool design. As much as I like "long blade" swords, this one is not balanced well. I am a good size guy, but the blade is to long to wield properly. Answer: Generally speaking no. I can not speak for anything under the handle. Some people have noted their hanlde to be loose; my example was tight but iprefer the traditional wraped handle.

I returned the honshu blade and got the red damascus katana at Acut. lighter sharper more traditional with good color on my example. If you want a blade to do a lot of back yard hacking and slashing the honshu may be good.
