You might “tap” it on the ground, but I would hesitate to do that. Put your weight behind direct pressure pushing against a hard surface and it will “unlock”.

Answer:	Hi...I'm not sure if it's 26 inches, but I don't recommend it. I purchased 2 at Christmas: The one I gave my daughter opens, but sticks over half the time and you have to try repeatedly to get it open. The one I kept for myself almost never opens. Out of 50 tries, it may have telescoped twice. I asked a friend in law enforcement to tell me if I was doing something wrong...and he couldn't open it either. I'm just sorry that I missed the return deadline because my schedule was so complicated, but I'm looking to purchase ones that actually work.

Question:	Will they defend against someone who has a knife or sword
Answer:	They are well constructed but to answer your question I have to ask one. What defense training do you have with regards to hand-to-hand combat and/or against an opponent armed with a sword? If you say you are an martial arts master who makes both Chuck Norris & Bruce Lee whimper at the mention of your name, then you can use almost anything against an armed assailant. If you were to say "you have no training but think that cool looking ninja turtle guy with sai's is awesome and stuff". Will tell you straight up, sai's were meant mostly as a close quarters defense weapon, anyone thinking any martial arts weapon can save them, just by having it.... is going to have a really awful experience when or if said encounter occurs. All I can say is what I said at the beginning.. these are heavy and seem well constructed/made. They are not a toy. Do they look cool? Yep. Would I trust them against someone wielding a Hand forged, folded, tri-metallic, razor sharp Katana??? Nope. Even if the holder is a clumsy wannabe ninja or samurai, that weapon will hurt me and possibly cut off parts of my body I like! But I can say this too, reviews I've seen? Only negative review I can agree with is the crap-tactic handle wrapping that was used. (But this is easy to replace with Real Leather strapping from any arts & crafts store near you). Enjoy.

Answer:	Yes they are safe. Its not razor sharp, in fact its kinda dull. It is a great martial art weapon to have, however at the same time its not a toy.

Answer:	I really wouldn't consider them weapons, I wouldn't consider them decorative wall art. To me if they were a weapon they're a bit small and they feel like polished pot metal. The handles are very poorly leather wrapped, if it is even real leather. They do look nice and they are very shiny but I would not consider them a weapon at all.

Answer:	I'm guessing this question relates to rigidity and whether this is a cheap, soft practice knife. It is ridgid. It has a nice heft and thickness. They are decent practice blades.

Answer:	While this item is not bad for training (with eye protection), as in going through techniques, drills, etc it does have its limitations. first and foremost, in my opinion it is not meant for actual throwing except for practicing form used in throwing (not an actual contact throw). I would much rather use a secure location for practicing with an actual throwing knife and making the desired contact as in ranging and depth or penetration of the throwing knife used. This item is a little more stiff than other trainers I have tried but it is still useful as a trainer for uses described above. It can take plenty of use and punishment and cleaning it with a little a little armor all after use will keep it always looking like new.
