11 best bowling balls for heavy oil

Bowling balls for heavy oil are specifically designed to perform well on bowling lanes with high oil conditions. These balls are engineered to provide a strong hook potential and better traction on the lane surface, allowing bowlers to maintain control and accuracy. Here are some key features and considerations related to bowling balls for heavy oil:

  1. Coverstock: Bowling balls for heavy oil typically feature a coverstock with an aggressive texture, such as solid or hybrid reactive resin. This textured surface generates more friction with the lane's oily surface, resulting in an earlier hook and increased overall ball reaction.

  2. Core Design: The core design of a heavy oil bowling ball is often asymmetric or strong asymmetric. These cores offer more differential in ball motion, producing a sharper and more dramatic hook on the backend of the lane.

  3. Weight Block: The weight block's shape and density play a significant role in a heavy oil ball's performance. Heavy oil balls may incorporate dynamic core designs that maximize the ball's overall hook potential.

  4. Surface Preparation: Some heavy oil balls come with a factory finish that is sanded to a specific grit level to enhance traction.Bowlers can further customize the ball's surface with different sanding techniques to fine-tune its reaction to heavy oil conditions.

  5. Weight and Drilling: It's essential to select the appropriate ball weight that matches your physical capabilities. Additionally, the drilling layout can be tailored to your preferred ball motion and lane conditions, optimizing your performance on heavy oil lanes.

  6. Lane Play: When using a heavy oil ball, bowlers often target the inside part of the lane, known as the oil line or oil pattern, where the oil concentration is the highest. The ball's strong hook potential helps it navigate through the heavy oil and recover strongly on the backend.

  7. Maintenance: Regular maintenance of your heavy oil bowling ball is crucial to ensure consistent performance. Cleaning the ball and resurfacing it as needed will help maintain its effectiveness on heavy oil lanes.

  8. Consulting with Professionals: If you're unsure about the best heavy oil ball for your needs or require assistance with drilling and layout options, consider consulting with a professional pro shop or coach. They can offer personalized recommendations based on your playing style and skill level.

In summary, bowling balls for heavy oil are designed to excel in high oil lane conditions. They feature aggressive coverstocks, powerful core designs, and surface preparations that enhance traction and hook potential. By selecting the right ball weight, drilling layout, and maintenance routine, you can maximize your performance on lanes with heavy oil patterns.

The legend of the Jackal continues with the Motiv Jackal Flash Pearl. This high-performance bowling ball is the strongest asymmetric pearl ball that Motiv has created to date. The Jackal Flash was built to be cleaner through the front of the lane with a quicker response on the backend. This is achieved by combining the Predator V2 weight block with the Infusion HV Pearl Reactive coverstock and finished with a 5000 LSP. This combination offers continuation with max revs and track flare while providing length and a strong angle that is needed when making adjustments on heavy oil patterns. This ball was designed to be an early transition ball for heavier oil but it also pairs well with rev dominant bowlers as the first ball out of their bag. User questions & answers

Question: does the bowling ball have holes already drilled in it
Answer: No you will have to go to your local pro shop and have them drill it for you.
Question: does the bowling ball have holes already drilled in it
Answer: ALL, and I capped all because I mean ALL bowling balls sold on Amazon come undrilled, new in the box and without holes.
Question: can you drill this for curves? or its a just for spares and straight balls
Answer: According to the Perfect Scale for bowling, this bowling ball has a coverstock and core that are best used for straighter shots or as a spare ball.
Question: Do all of the zombie head spare balls have a dull finish? All of the ones I have seen in person have a dull appearance rather than the high polish
Answer: The ball I obtained did not have a dull finish. It is polished, it is a non-reactive cover, means the ball stays straight. A dull finish typically indicates that the ball has been abraided, to give it more grip on oil. Some pro shops will use abrasives on balls, then run it through a polisher to meet the bowler's tendencies. I bought my Zombie from Amazon, it came polished, my bowling pro drilled it to my specs, and it makes for a great ball for picking up spares. I'm only an average bowler, so the Zombie is a real help keeping my aim straight.
