User questions & answers

Question: How do i order this knife with the lanyard hole on the blade? I can't find a way to contact the seller
Answer: You cannot any longer get this with the lanyard hole!!! Its an old picture! I went to the USA dealer who is in Columbia Missouri!
Question: Does the current version have a lanyard hole
Answer: Yes
Question: How thick is the steel
Answer: There are multiple reviews on Youtube when search for SCHF45. One says the blade thickness is just under 1/4 inch. I did not measure mine as it has been returned when the blade failed when cutting some one inch spruce branches. a chunk of the the cutting edge broke off. I trust this is an exceptional case and a manufacturing defect.
Question: Does it come with a warranty
Answer: Schrade comes with a warranty, warranty terms are customer pays to ship defective product back (This cost should be charged back to factory Schrade contracted with vs customer paying) And additionally they tack on a handling fee of around $8.00 ( Which is sometimes waived ) You ship item back, and you get it back in around 7-10 business days. Note, you do NOT get a tracking number to track the item.)...and they will NOT issue a pre-paid shipping label.. So you the customer ate paying for their "screw-ups", which like said previously the supplier Schrade contracted with should bear all RMA costs. Main problem I have is Schrade depends entirely upon the supplier / for Quality Control oversight. I had one of the SCHF45 LEROY'S which upon LIGHT use the blade chipped.. Swapped it for a SCHF1 Survival knife. Went thru 2 of those thru Schrade.. 3 more thru a seller that let me look thru several to find one that was ACCEPTABLE. Problems were: Sloppy machine work SCHF1 has a hollow handle, cap screws on that "waterproofs" that section. Machine work was very sloppy in area O-ring seals against. Coating had "dirt" (metal chips) embedded in coating in sealing area. Handle on one in addition to above, was machined off-center with KNURLING missing on 30% of handle. Sheath would collapse each time blade was pulled from sheath. Obvious wear on coating appearing after 20 minutes on couch playing with knife. The closure strap NOT armoured / postion ed so it doesn't get cut. (Temp fix if you have some velcro at ripping is to put a sacrificial layer over it, otherwise it gets cut in short order. That's off the top of my head. Last thing, related to customer having to PAY return shipping on DEFECTIVE items. Schrade / BTI TOOLS, who is now owned by Smith & Wesson touts how they use the BEST MATERIALS and BRAG about their QUALITY CONTROL... If they are having only a few rejects per 1,000... How come they aren't issuing pre'paid shipping labels for DEFECTIVE PRODUCT ? BudK / CH Kadels whose items are priced significantly lower than Schrade's item upon calling them issue a PRE-PAID SHIPPING LABEL...with a 2 minute phone call.

User questions & answers

Question: How long is the blade and what metal
Answer: Hello. It is 32 inches.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: The fabric is removable and we suggest hand washing and allowing the fabric to air dry.
Question: Is the schf1 a double edged blade
Answer: No, it repels water, but not waterproof.
Question: is this knife really carbon steel and if it is, is it heat treated
Answer: Yes
Question: where is knive made
Answer: It is it’s own bag also
Question: How thick is the blade
Answer: It has a very light cotton like padding.
Question: Is this better than szco bowie knife
Answer: Absolutely! It's a beautiful baby sitter. Every time I got home from work and had to prepare dinner I would put him in the chair to play with toys and just watch me make dinner. It's a wonderful high chair. It looks beautiful in our kitchen. Can't imagine having a typical bulky ugly high chair after having this one. Worth every penny. No regrets.
Question: is this tough enough to batton with? has anyone tried chopping wood with it
Answer: It cannot be removed. The post is there for protections so they do not slide out under the tray. Most of the high chairs have it unless you go to wooden ones
Question: how long is the blade
Answer: No. It's very easy to wipe clean with the exception of the straps. The chair is some sort of fake leather (but not cheesy looking). The fabric straps tend to need a bit more scrubbing if stained but usually they don't get too dirty if you use a large bib.
Question: Is this a mystery buy..?, no stats..?,, type of steel. true full tang, blade thickness, leather or nylon sheath. Are they kidding
Answer: The highest seat setting from the floor is 26". The tray in this position is 33 1/4". I hope this helps.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this blade strong enough to be driven through tough green woods with a baton? I'm looking for something to split out blanks for carving spoons
Answer: Very strong. Long as you're not pushing the size limits of the tool, splits green and dry wood well. I've been able to get spoon sized blanks and drawknife them even for better carving. Very useful tool.
Question: What do buyers of this product use for a baton? hammer? wooden mallet? hammer end of a hatchet? i would use this to make kindling out of scrap 2x4s
Answer: I use a wooden mallet. The froe is outstanding. It makes short work of making kindling.
Question: what is this kind of blade for? I want it, but only if it serves a purpose
Answer: A froe is an olden tool to make shakes (as in 'cedar shake shingles') aka wood shingles; and, with the right kind of wood, to make rough planks, as in 2'X6" and so on. The minor use is for kindling but many other knives will do that. Not all wood has grain that splits that straight for making boards and planks. Many woods have grain that twists. Just have to experiment or do research on what ones work best. One can also drive wedges into wood to split out planks. Of course shake shingles are easier as they are usually 24" or less, so they are less twisted. Note the sturdy design, which is made for batoning. To me if you intend to make a shelter with a shingle roof and, or, shingle walls, or tool shed or wood shed and make your own shingles from wood this is the tool for you. The typical one has a handle that is in an 'L' shape, which is twisted to split the wood easier than driving all the way to the bottom. Not that big of a deal. This will do the same thing.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with a Ferro rod
Answer: I don't think they have arch support and the insole is covered with soft material but it's firm. They have a soft comfortable bed and have more support than most slippers.
Question: is this an american made knife
Answer: They run big. Go down a half size. I am 5 1/2, but often buy 6 for width. I bought a 6 and they are so loose that they feel like they will fall off. They are new, out of the box and will also stretch since they are suede.
Question: how does this knife perform on bushcraft tasks
Answer: Yes these slip on easily. You might have to wiggle your heal a little but I think you could get them on. They are very warm and comfortable.
Question: Can this knife be crossed drawn
Answer: In China
