This steel mostly on cheap knives. 440C is fantastic Stainless steel mainly on higher end knives. Esee 6 440C is beautiful but not cheap price 140 dollars. So if says 440C good knife I myself would pass on other blades maid with 440 440A 440B. Google is best friend give you details on knife materials what's good or what's bad. |

| Answer: | if you are going to stab it into something and pry sideways to "test the strength" then no.. because no knife should need to do that.. thats the test noone who respects blades will ever do.. if you talking about extreme heavy beating and usage.. like batoning, bushcraft and hunting tasks.. then yes.. its super tough. i dont think much about edge retention because i carry tools to maintain my tools, which is what should be done regardless of tool quality. very few knives will process an entire deer or hog without dulling.. even "super-steels" will. |

| Answer: | This knife has a metal butt cap, and they are usually welded to a "through-tang", which is smaller in width than a full tang, but still a solid knife..mtech has several full tang knives that are small in size (neck knives) and I have multiples of each type. They are sharp, solid knives..good for small tasks, but I wouldn't try to build a shelter with one. If you want a survival knife, get something with with a 3"to 5 inch blade. You might want to look at the Mora line..swedish laminated steel, hard plastic sheath, and scary sharp.. hope this helps..by the way those Mora knives are less than $20.00--very dependable.. I also have several of them |
