Care Tips for Case Knives
Tru-Sharp Stainless Steel (SS) is a special high-carbon steel that helps the blades hold an edge. It also offers extraordinary blade strength and corrosion resistance.
Chrome Vanadium (CV) blades are known for their edge-holding ability and easy re-sharpening. However, they are less resistant to rusting, pitting and discoloration than stainless steel. We recommend keeping a thin film of oil on the blade to maintain the finish.
Sharpening
Blades are honed at an inclusive angle of 35° - 45° from the factory. Maintaining a constant angle, hold the blade 17° - 22° from the surface of a sharpening stone and stroke the blade as if shaving a thin layer from the stone. Repeat the stroking motion along the entire edge of the blade starting at the blade heel and working to the tip. Turn the blade over and repeat the process.
Cleaning
To clean the blades and handles of your Case knife, apply a small drop of oil in the joints of your knife and a small amount of oil on a clean, soft rag or cloth. Wipe down the blades and handles with the soft cloth. The inside of knife can be cleaned with cotton-tipped swabs and wooden tooth picks. To remove any adhesive tape on your knife, apply nail polish remover or lighter fluid to a soft cloth to easily remove the residue. Rusting may occur to older knives. Rust spots on older knives should be oiled well and the knife should be allowed to sit for a few days. Carefully, scrape away the rust spot with the tip of a sharp, stiff knife.

Clip Blade
The clip blade is one of the most common blade types that is used as a multi-purpose blade and is preferred for its versatility. The clip point blade lends itself to a quicker stabbing advantage when puncturing game due to its sharp tip, but has a narrow and comparatively weaker tip than a drop point blade.
Gut Hook Blade
The gut hook feature on this leather hunter allows outdoor enthusiasts, guides and professional hunters to easily cut underneath the skin of game and is used for field dressings.
Drop Point Blade
The drop point blade on this leather hunter slopes from the handle of the knife to the tip of the blade allowing for ease of use when gutting large animals. A drop point blade has a thicker and stronger spine near the tip that allows for more control when cutting.
Skinner Blade
The skinner blade on this leather hunter is used primarily for skinning purposes to cleanly and efficiently remove the hide of big-game animal. The polished leather handle allows for a secure grip and has a relatively short, thin, and curved blade to keep the tip from puncturing the hide or spearing the meat.

Question: | does it have a locking mian blade |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. The blade on this knife is approximately 5/8" wide. |
Question: | Where does case Medium Stockman made |
Answer: | Hi Kilgore. The medium fixed blade is 9.5 inches long. |
Question: | How do the Case 3-blade knives compare to the Buck 3-blade models |
Answer: | I would highly recommend this knife for all types of hunting and would probably make a good backpack/camp knife to have around. I would not say it should be considered a buschcraft/survival knife. The spine is a little narrow for trying to split wood, clearing bark, etc. Actually, I would avoid using this blade on wood at all. Hopefully this helps. |
Question: | how long is the knife opened |
Answer: | No...blade fits into a strong plastic case....definitely a quality product. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how long is this pocket knife |
Answer: | I had the same problem, took a little experimentation but what finally worked was some Maguier's automotive leather cleaner/conditioner. This just happened to be the brand I had on hand. After a couple of applications and buffing, it looks pretty good, not like it came from Case originally, but still good and the leather is protected. |
