Answer:	It curled when I used a snips. I wanted to keep it flat as possible. A hack saw and a dremel worked well for me.

Question:	Can the rods be bent into a U shape
Answer:	I am not 100% sure but I would imagine it is probably 70/30 (copper/zinc). I use it to make pins for knife handles. It is soft enough to grind down easily but still very strong. I have had no problems with this product and would suggest it to anyone.

Answer:	Yes, But only IF you use a bending fixture designed for 1/4” dia Rod. Otherwise you will probably break the rod using only vise and some sort of a radius device like a pipe to bend it around.

Answer:	Yes the brass can be drilled but you have to overcome bit skating starting the hole. My application was to pound and bend into a new shape but the brass is too susceptible to work hardening without heating.

Question:	how long are these
Answer:	That depends on whether or not the one that you are trying to remove is an original towel rod. Original rods were put in then the ceramic holders were affixed. Replacement rods have a spring push button put into one end so that it will fit in without having to remove and potentially break the ceramic brackets. Please be aware that if the rod is significantly old, the newer towel rods are not as wide in diameter as the towel rods in older houses and will be loose in the ceramic brackets. I found that the diameters were listed from diagonal corner to corner rather than measuring a side of the square rod. It is just something to keep in mind and you should probably be sure that you have tried whitening the rod (yes polish suitable for plastic and some of the older ones are even wood with a vinyl type covering) the old rod first so that you are convinced that it is not salvageable if the old one is wider than a new one. That said, you will have to break (saw) the rod if it is an original one and you can try and you can usually fit in something to the button end of a replacement knob while pushing the rod to the far other bracket. Be careful as if you use a metal tool, it can chip your ceramic bracket though I have used a paint can opener which is metal. You can also saw it to get it out. Hope that helps or at least gives you ideas.
