Answer:	I haven"t used it for that. I don't think it would work very well for sharpening the gut hooks. It does a great job on the knife blades though.

Answer:	Most of my kitchen and pocket knives are Shun and Al Mar Japanese knives. Received Work Sharp yesterday and all my knives (35+) are now sharpened and even polished with 6000 grit. The way the sharpening belt bends allow sharpening the 30deg edges with ease. I am way past the ritual of "perfect sharpening" the long difficult traditional way. With Work Sharp all my knives are as sharp or sharper than ever. Question:	How well does this work on mower blades
Answer:	No. The belts are too thin. You will wear out many belts to get just 1 blade sharp. This is a small knife sharpener, I wouldn't sharpen anything bigger than a kitchen knife or scissors. The sharpening belt is about 1" wide and paper thin. I wore out 2 med and 2 fine belts sharpening about 10 knives when I first got this machine. It works good but it is not built for things like shovels and mower blades. I am not sure I would sharpen a machete with it.

Answer:	It takes a lot off the blade, if you are talking about expensive chef knives. I use it mostly for gardening tools or a quick edge in the kitchen. It does the job and I like the ability to sharpen a variety of blades.

Sharpen Knife

1. Hold the sharpener with your left hand on a flat, stable surface
2. Insert blade fully and vertically into V-Notch carbide sharpening slot at a 90 degree angle to the sharpener. Pull the knife blade from heel to tip in direction of indicator arrows.
3. Repeat above action until blade is sharp.

Sharpen Single-beveled Blades

1. Position the head of the sharpener over the heel of the blade. Make sure the angled carbide blade in the V-Notch is aligned with the beveled side of blade. Then apply moderate downward pressure to pull the sharpener across the cutting edge from heel to tip in direction of indicator arrows.
2. Repeat above action until blade is sharp.

Sharpen Wide Bevel Blades

1. Secure axe, hatchet or machete blade by clamping it in a vise with cutting edge exposed
2. Lower the sharpener down so that the cutting edge is resting in the bottom of the V-Notch slot. Then apply moderate downward pressure to pull the sharpener across the cutting edge from one end to the other in direction of indicator arrows.
3. Repeat above action until blade is sharp.

Sharpen Other Edged Tools

CARBIDE bar can sharpen and CERAMIC bar can hone all sorts of knives, garden implements, scissors, tool edge, etc.

1. Stroke the sharpener along the cutting edge from heel to tip in direction of indicator arrows. Angle between the edge being sharpened and CARBIDE bar or CERAMIC bar should be approximately 20 degrees.

Answer:	Do yourself a favor. Look up All American sharpener. Then go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and buy yourself a ryobi cordless angle grinder for under 100 bucks. When I tell you it is by far the best mower blade sharpener anywhere!!!! I mean anywhere!!! I even bought the Honda attachment and can do all my blades at any angle I want! And not only that I can even do them while on the road! Attach the sharpener to my trailers wheel well and in 3 minutes I can sharpen any lawn mower blade!

The Accusharp 001 is designed to sharpen DOUBLE-BEVELED blades, which contains two, angled, tungsten carbide blades; designed to sharpen both sides of your blade. The 006 GardenSharp (not 060) has ONE, angled, tungsten carbide blade that is meant for SINGLE-BEVELED blades. The other 'blade' is not meant to sharpen, it is simple a steel rod designed to guide your sharpener. This is because on your pruners, loppers, any single-edge blades only need ONE side to be sharpened to make a clean cut. If both sides of your loppers are angled then you will just bend the stem instead of cut it. Do not use AccuSharp 001 on single-beveled garden tools; it is not designed for them. Answer:	Turn device upside down...apply pressure with your thumb to remove cover. First few times will be hard..I had sprayed a little wd40 to make it easier...once the cover slides off it exposes the scissor sharpener..again apply firm thumb pressure and it will slide out of unit.

Answer:	I have tried to sharpen Damascus with other products with little success. Have not tried with Work Sharp. I would call Work Sharp for advice. I have called them several times and have found them helpful.

The other 'blade' is not meant to sharpen, it is simple a steel rod designed to guide your sharpener. This is because on your pruners, loppers, any single-edge blades only need ONE side to be sharpened to make a clean cut. If both sides of your loppers are angled then you will just bend the stem instead of cut it. Do not use AccuSharp 001 on single-beveled garden tools; it is not designed for them. Answer:	I have used this on my serrates knives but I do it very gently. It works wonderful on all the other knives. One mistake that people make is they think that the honing tool is to sharpen the knives it only is to straighten the edge of the knives. I hope that this answers your question. Answer:	The directions say it works on kitchen knives. AccuSharp has a lifetime warranty.
Question:	How do I reverse the blades? Lower to upper or front to back? Instructions say to keep "dot" on blades facing the handle
Answer:	All you need to do is place the sharpener on a flat surface with the screw-heads on top, unscrew the top half and lift it up making sure that both blades are left on the bottom half. Now just lift one blade and put it in the slot of the second without rotating or flipping and the second blade in the first. When you do this, the dots on the blades will continue to point in their original direction i.e. facing toward the tail end of the handle. Its just that the position of one blade behind the other is reversed.

Answer:	Exactly the same size as a swimming pool, chlorine tablet. I use one for removing stains from my plaster swimming pool. Fits neatly into pool-tool handle/pole with a tablet gripper (e.g. Pentair 542068 Algae Gon Chlorine Tablet Holder Pole Accessory with Snap-Adapt Handle ) for scouring away stains.

Question:	Do I have to use honing oil with it
Answer:	You don't have to. I have used it with and without. It does seem to glide much smoother across the blade when I use honing oil. I've even heard of some people using water. Honing oil is relatively inexpensive, so I tend to use it.

Using the Puck

Step 1 - Firmly grip the tool to be sharpened or lock in vise to prevent slipping. If desired, apply a few drops of Lansky’s Nathan’s Natural Honing Oil to the grit on the side of The Puck which will be used to sharpen.

Step 2 - Grasp The Puck firmly with thumb and fingers, supporting it by the palm of the strong hand. Move The Puck in a circular motion, overlapping the circles as you move along the entire cutting edge to be sharpened. For the best results maintain a consistent angle while sharpening.

Step 3 - Work one whole side of the tool’s edge before repeating the sharpening procedure on the other edge.

Suggestions:

1. For badly worn, nicked or very dull edges, use the coarse grit side of The Puck first. To apply a finer edge, repeat the process with the medium grit side of The Puck.

2. If tools to be sharpened merely need a touch-up or dressed edge, skip the step with the coarse grit and use only the medium grit side.

Fire Starter
