Question:	Can you plant this in late july or early August
Answer:	I would plant in spring. The seeds listed are for spring plantings, not late summer or fall. However, the instructions aren’t shown (back of bag) in the photo, and I planted this years ago so I have no label to look at. I do remember this is a good product and it produced a good food plot. If you have a warm season late into the year I suppose you could try to plant it, but here in July and August we get little rain and a lot of heat which would not produce a good crop at all.

Answer:	Mine are more oval and fit perfect. I think the only toilet it won’t fit will be a square toilet. Some people said they had issues with height of the toilet for it not fitting. My toilets are all a little less than 16 inches from bottom to toilet seat. So, these work perfect. And I LOVE them! Very sturdy, easy to put together and easy to fold up when not using.

Answer:	Tom, there are no spring planting dates recommended for central TX due to the early heat and dry weather. The clover will not have time to get a root system developed that can survive your average summer. My recommendation would be to get a lab soil test to be sure your soil pH is correct ASAP and add any lime called for this spring and thoroughly disk it into the soil. This will give the lime time to correct the pH before you plant in the fall. You also should consider planting Fusion. It's a blend of Whitetail Clover and our WINA forage chicory. This blend is more drought tolerant in dry climates due to the deeper root system the chicory develops.

Answer:	Fusion is not designed for really sandy soil. Does very well on medium to heavy soil. Whitetail inst. has some good annual mixes for sandy soil. Most are fall planted. Pure Attraction, WinterGreens and Ambush all work well on thin soil

If you would like to know about the percolation rate of the soil in your yard, the most reliable method is a field measurement where you dig a hole in the soil and fill it with water. Return every few hours to monitor the rate at which the water level goes down. I recommend staking a cheap yard stick in the hole. It is relatively simple to calculate the percolation rate in inches/hour. Ideally, this would be done when the surrounding soil is moist, so you should refill the hole a few times and use the percolation rate from the third filling. Alternatively, wait for the rainy season. If you would like to know the distribution of particle sizes in your soil, you might try a basic "jar test". All you need is a jar and water. This will give you a very rough idea about the texture of your soil.

Learn About Your Soil

Not all soils are the same. Some soils are heavier, some are lighter, and some hold lime and fertilizer longer than others.

Most high-quality forages grow best in soils with a neutral soil pH between 6.5 and 7.5. If soil pH is below that (and most fallow soils are), nutrients are bound up in the soil and the plants cannot access them. In this instance of the pH being below 6.5, you would need to add lime to raise the soil pH level. Without a Soil Test Kit, you would not know how much lime and fertilizer are needed to ensure the greatest health of your forage.
