It is a strong line, been using it all my life, but you must base the lb strength on the fish you're going after. Which color depends on the color/clarity of the water you are fishing. Whether it's day or night (moon light reflects on line too) isn't the biggest issue. I fish in crystal clear water (can see 30' down easily) and slightly green tinted (algae) waters. I switched from clear to lo-vis green and that was the game changer, way more bites.
