There is also a Little Tikes firetruck which has no top so it is able to accommodate a taller child better. You may be better off going with your grandson to a store and allow him to sit in them, if that is possible. My 3 year old also loves his mini micro scooter which may be a more age appropriate option plus you'll know he'll fit on it.
