Answer:	I have the 5000 and its line capacity is 190 yards of #40 braid. I put #30 to get 220 yards. The 5000 has the same weight as the 4000, 9.5 oz. Depend on the type of fish to catch, if you catch big jack it probably runs 190 yards of the #40 line out. If line capacity is important to you go with Daiwa BG 4500 and up, or step up to Penn Spinfisher V ssv6500. Hope this help.

Answer:	Hi richard, This would strictly come down to angler preference. If you do not use baits or lures that would require the use of the split-ring feature then you would just want the straight nose. It is a very handy feature so others just get the Split ring just in case, again both are great but would be up to the angler to choose.

Answer:	Yes the cutter is on one side of the pliers and the blades are flat on the outside so that I can cut right up to the hook. Cuts braid like butter. I got the long nose so that I could reach the hook out of the throat of hungry bass. Great pliers have had them almost a year. I don't care of the rotationing of the holster I would prefer that it stay in one place.

Answer:	MONO line capacity (Lb. Test / Yards): 20/460, 30/320, 40/240. Diawa didn't state what it is for Braid, but a quick google research leads me to believe braid gives you 1.44 times the line capacity of mono, so for braid (Lb. Test / Yards) : 20/662, 30/460, 40/345.Diawa states the max drag is 33 pounds. Question:	Is there a "lock and unlock" switch for the anti-reverse? Thanks
Answer:	Yes on the bottom. If you do heavy surf fishing and wade in the water, sand usually will jam the mechanism. If this happens simply unscrew the cover and hit it with some WD40. I've owned 2 of these reels and the anti reverse switch is the first thing to go. It is a measly tensioned wire that engages the switch, but for the price you can't complain! Also check and make sure your "drag metal" is included. Mine shipped without one and cost me a nice size shark because my drag instantly tightened and snapped my line...

Question:	When the spool is rised up the bail gets stuck over it. Is that normal or is it a defect
Answer:	Not sure what you mean about the bail getting stuck over the spool. Is your bail open or closed and how does it get stuck? I ordered 2 and one of them had a spot right when the spool would reach the top while reeling it would stick a little. I decided not try and swap it out due to limited time. They both handled a heavy week of mackeral, amberjack, and shark without flaw. They were running 90lb braid and 5ft, heavy rods. I do recommend a good break down and cleaning of the internals after any extensive saltwater use.

Answer:	Mike - an 8000 size spinning reel is a very large reel and has a large line capacity. The larger reels (6000 - 8000 size) are designed to fight large fish, plus with the added line capacity you can fish in depths of 100' to 200' and still have plenty of line should a large fish start 'stripping' line as they make their run. The larger reels have drag systems designed to withstand more line stripping should you hook up on a large fish. A 1000 size reel is a very small reel with minimal line capacity. You would select a 1000 size reel if you're fishing for smaller species of fish, although some anglers have the skills to catch sizable fish using 1000 and 1500 sized reels.

Answer:	I’m sure you can but I’d rather be safe than sorry. But I’m sure you can catch all of the smaller fish but you might struggle with the stronger fighters.

Even the next size up — tHe 4500 — has significantly more line capacity and drag. I think the 4000 is perfect for surf fishing on the West Coast. I use a BG4000 with about 250 yds of 40 lb PowerPro Max Cuatro on a ML 8’6” rod. Great for casting plastics, small spoons and Rapalas/Lucky Craft hard baits in the surf.

Answer:	20-30 braid would be too thin for this size reel. I would suggest thicker braid 40-65 lb braid to a leader or using straight mono.

Featuring a secondary drag system in the rear of the reel, the Baitfeeder switch completely disengages the primary drag system. With the bail of the reel closed and the line remaining well under control, the Baitfeeder switch allows line to pay out under an adjustable amount of tension.
