Okuma Baitrunner reels are a popular series of fishing reels designed and manufactured by the Okuma Corporation, a well-known name in the fishing industry. These reels are part of Okuma's broader lineup of fishing equipment and are designed specifically for anglers who enjoy using baitrunner-style reels for various types of fishing.
Key features and characteristics of Okuma Baitrunner reels may include:
Baitrunner Functionality: The term "baitrunner" typically refers to a type of fishing reel that has a secondary drag system separate from the main drag. This feature allows anglers to set the reel to a lighter tension while still having the ability to engage the main drag quickly when a fish strikes. It's particularly useful for live bait fishing, as it allows fish to take the bait without feeling much resistance.
Dual Drag System: Okuma Baitrunner reels often feature a dual drag system, which includes both the baitrunner drag and the main drag. This dual drag system provides versatility, enabling anglers to quickly switch between a light drag setting and a stronger, fighting drag.
High-Quality Construction: Okuma is known for producing durable and reliable fishing equipment. Baitrunner reels in their lineup are typically constructed from quality materials, such as corrosion-resistant metals and robust drag systems, to withstand the rigors of saltwater and freshwater fishing.
Smooth Operation: These reels are designed for smooth and efficient operation. They often incorporate precision ball bearings and well-engineered components to ensure that line retrieval and casting are effortless.
Variety of Models: Okuma offers a range of Baitrunner reels, catering to different types of fishing and anglers' preferences. These reels come in various sizes and capacities, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your intended fishing style and target species.
Ambidextrous Design: Many Okuma Baitrunner reels feature an ambidextrous design, allowing both right-handed and left-handed anglers to use them comfortably.
Affordability: Okuma Baitrunner reels are known for providing good value for the price. They offer many features found in higher-end reels at a more affordable cost.
Maintenance: Like all fishing reels, Okuma Baitrunner reels require regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure they perform optimally and have a long lifespan. Proper care can also help prevent corrosion and damage from exposure to water and salt.
Overall, Okuma Baitrunner reels are a popular choice among anglers who appreciate the convenience and versatility of baitrunner-style reels. They are suitable for a wide range of fishing applications, including freshwater and saltwater, and can be a valuable addition to any angler's fishing gear collection.

For us at Okuma Fishing Tackle, fishing is a life-long adventure. Collectively, none of us fish as often, catch as many, or are as consistently successful as we would like, and thankfully so. Fishing is not a destination; it's an endless pursuit that begins long before we ever get to the water. The anticipation of the next opportunity is as valuable as the time spent on the water. At Okuma, we craft the tools for the journey. From entry-level through expert, every rod and reel is constructed not only to execute, but also to excite, energize and exhilarate. From feeling the tap, tap, tap of a drift rig searching its way along the bottom of a steelhead stream, to turning a lifeless lead jig into a fleeing bait-fish in the salt, every cast, crank, bobber down and hookup are the rich details of the journey.

Where Trout And Panfish Rule: ABF-20b
Avenger Baitfeeder spinning reels begin at size 20, perfect for baiting trout and panfish on small ponds, lakes and reservoirs. Cast floating trout baits on slip sinkers, fish live minnows under floats for aggressive crappie, this reel is perfect for 4- to 8-pound test line.
General Freshwater: ABF-30b and ABF-40b
Walleye, catfish and bass match well to size 30 and 40 Avenger Baitfeeders. If 8-to-12-pound line is correct for the fishery, these are the proper size reels. The size 40 also crosses over to light inshore applications in saltwater fishing.
When Big Baits Equal Big Fish: ABF-55b and ABF-65b
Large live baits and large predatory fish like pike, musky, striped bass and trophy catfish can require a lot of line capacity on spinning reels. The Avenger Baitfeeder spinning reel in sizes 55 and 65 hold plenty of line for trophy freshwater fish and most saltwater species.
Fishing The Open Ocean- ABF-65b and ABF-80b
You can't be quite sure what will eat your bait in the ocean. It could be a small dolphin fish, it could be a sailfish. In either case, size 65 and 80 Okuma Baitfeeders are the largest spinning reels in the family, ready for fast-moving fish that sprint towards the horizon.
Okuma Baitfeeder Technology
When fishing live baits, chunk baits, worms, insects or dough baits, the best fishing success often comes from allowing fish to secure a solid hold of the bait without feeling the resistance of the fishing rod and gear. This is difficult to accomplish with traditional spinning reels. Okuma Baitfeeding Technology is the ultimate bait fishing solution. Featuring a secondary drag system in the rear of the reel, the Baitfeeder switch completely disengages the primary drag system. With the bail of the reel closed and the line remaining well under control, the Baitfeeder switch allows line to pay out under an adjustable amount of tension. Once the fish has had time to completely eat a bait, a turn of the reel handle disengages the baitfeeder system, re-engages the primary drag system and the fish can be hooked and landed with total control.

Question: | Is av4000 good for surf fishing |
Answer: | As my experien of av4000 is a good reel in salt water fishing surf, pier, and off shore fishing. Same with my lady edition of av4000. |
Question: | the AV3000 will not allow me to switch from left to right? left side has a hexagon male and female end |
Answer: | At the end of the handle nut screw will be a plastic spacer. This part needs to come off with the screw and be moved to the other side. If that part is not removed, then the hexagon shaft will not slide in place on the opposite side of the handle. Remove that plastic spacer and move it to the other side of the reel. |

Avenger Spinning Reel
The key new feature of the 2019 Avenger series is the addition of the CFR technology. The CFR, or Cyclonic Flow Rotor creates a “cyclonic” airflow which significantly increases air flow through the rotor creating a faster drying time if the reel should become wet, minimizing corrosion possibilities throughout the reel.
The Avenger spinning reels feature 7 total ball bearings for the ultimate in smoothness and feature up to 22lbs of drag pressure out of the multi-disc, Japanese oiled felt drag system. The corrosion resistant frame, rotor and handle arm keep the reel lightweight but sturdy, as well as the two toned, machined aluminum spool.
