Question: | What line would be best for trolling for kokanee and how much would fill the okuma coldwater 350 low profile linecounter reel |
Answer: | This is a difficult question to answer, because it depends how you are fishing as well as where you are fishing. On of our top pro-staff in the Pacific Northwest that specializes in Kokanee fishing recommends using 10-12 lbs monofilament for his trolling. Monofilament is recommended, because of the stretch factor which helps with the and Kokanee’s soft mouth. The Coldwater 350 holds 250-yds of 12-lbs monofilament |
Question: | Is this reel used for salmon fishing? What is the differences between 354A and 354D |
Answer: | i used it for lake trout and pike fishing with 30 pound braid line |
Question: | Does the line counter on this reel work for surf casting long distances at high speeds |
Answer: | I would not recommend using a counter reel for long cast applications. The added transmission gears that drive the counter will not allow the reel to freespool as freely as casting reel without a counter. |

Komodo SS Low-Profile Baitcast Reel
It’s pretty obvious, but the 'SS' in Komodo SS stands for Stainless Steel. The Komodo SS is built around a heavy-duty stainless steel main gear, pinion gear, drive shaft and spool shaft to deliver an internal foundation of unrelenting strength and corrosion-resistance. In short, this is the major point of separation in new Komodo reels for those anglers who want to push these reels towards their maximum drag output of 30-pounds on large predatory fish.
Around this superior foundation, Komodo SS reels continue with premium components including: rigid, machined aluminum frame and spool, aluminum side plates, high-output Carbonite drag system and updated 6-pin Velocity Cast Control System.
Performance features include six or seven (depending upon size) stainless steel HPB High Performance Bearings, plus roller bearing, for outstanding corrosion-resistance. The synchronized level-wind system does not disengage for casting. This ensures that when fishing braided lines, the level-wind always maintains alignment with line as it comes off the spool. In systems where the level-wind disengages, a hot running fish can cause spikes in drag pressure as non-stretch braided lines encounter sharp angles when pulling from one side of the spool when the level-wind may be at the other side of the spool. Bait clickers are standard on all models.
Stainless Steel Gearing
Stainless Steel Main Gear increases ultimate power, durability and strength.
Choose Your Reel
The Komodo SS series includes two sizes, 350 and 450 in both right and left hand retrieve.
Zirconium Guide Inserts
Maximize your reel with Zirconium line guide inserts for use with braided line.
On /Off Clicker
On/Off Clicker allows for trolling, chunking, or bait fishing.

User questions & answers
Question: | wich model would work best for striped bass |
Answer: | I like to use the Okuma 153D or the 153DLX. The "D" model is the right-hand retrieve and the DLX is the left-hand retrieve. I fill the spool with 80# Power Pro Spectra line and us P-Line or Seagar 20 to 25# fluorocarbon leader. You will get about 120 yards of braid on the spool and that should be plenty for Stripers. I like using the 80# braid because it makes tying the leader on much easier. If you want more braid, use 50# Power Pro and it will double the amount of braid you can put on your reel. If you don't need a line-counter reel, I prefer them when fishing plugs for salmon with clients in the boat, I also like to use the Abu Garcia 5500 or 6500 series reels on Stripers. When it comes to a line-counter reel, the Okuma beats the Abu Garcia models. I hope this helps! Respectfully, Capt Dale |
Question: | what is the max drag of CW-303D |
Answer: | 20 pounds at max. |
Question: | What size for 10 colors of lead core line? thinking of getting one and putting suffix 832 lead core, but i don't want a huge reel, using it for trout |
Answer: | As a real it’s not bad but the counter on both reels I bought failed so I went back to the attachable line counter..I wouldn’t buy it again |
Question: | What size for 10 colors of lead core line? thinking of getting one and putting suffix 832 lead core, but i don't want a huge reel, using it for trout |
Answer: | You can use our Coldwater 200-sized line counter or you can also consider looking at our Coldwater 350 low profile line counter if you want a more compact platform. I do not have the exact specs for amount of colors and backing for leadcore, but these are the two reels we sell most base don the application you are targeting. |
