Answer:	It truly depends on the type of bread you want to cut. A crusty dense bread does very well under this knife. I find the softer breads do better with a good serrated Chefs knife And a light hand when cutting.

Answer:	The knife has hollows on BOTH sides. Two of the four product pictures on Amazon.com are misleading since they appear to show a side of the knife in questuon without the hollows. As such, these images should probably be removed from the listing since they are clearly not depictions of this particular knife.

Answer:	Yes. Typically I've seen sushi chefs using a Santoku for this, but I have cut sashimi (tuna blocks) with this meat slicer and it works fine. Thin and very sharp blade, with scalloped hollow edge helps prevent fish & meat from sticking. If you can find one for under a $100, I think it's a good deal. Shun also makes a number of Santoku hollow edge knives, from under a $100 to over $200, more traditional for preparing sushi.

Answer:	The knife dimensions are 1 5/16 inches wide at its widest point near the handle. The blade is 9 1/2 inches long where is starts to flare out at the handle which is where it would sit in a knife block. From that flare point the handle is 5 inches long. From its point to the very back of the handle is 14 5/8 inches. This is a beautiful knife and extremely sharp so always be very careful. A simple careless slip can leave you with a nasty cut.

Answer:	130 watts would be for the charger, not the knife motor. At 130 watts and 3.9 volts (battery voltage), the knife would draw 33 amps! You could ALMOST crank your car!

Answer:	QUICK try to return it to the Store and get your money back. If you cannot do that Try getting a replacement from the Hamilton Beach distributor/Manufacturer at 1-800-851-8900.I had a Hamilton Beach Model 742100, SN A3969J, Type EK04. The knife was old and started being difficult to switch on and then quickly quit altogether. I disassembled it and the switch fell out on the bench in small broken plastic parts and one metal "Z" part which was the basic part of the Switch with one end seated inside the button. Based on my experience it is my opinion you are experiencing premature switch failure due to a broken plastic part which is partially blocking the switch button and if it has not failed already it probably will do so.The Cuisinart CEK 40 works well for me but cannot be used on heavy bones or gristle. It has a manual lock on the switch to prevent you from turning it on accidentally when not in use and plugged in. The switch is very easy to use but you have to be very careful not to press the switch when you are holding the knife (with the lock off) and getting ready to slice the ham or roast. The blades are stainless steel and very very sharp and will cut your fingers in a heart beat experience taught me so.

Answer:	An electric sharpener should never be used to cut bread. It should ONLY be used to sharpen blades.

Answer:	Sharpening serrated blades is not usually possible at home. If your knife is still working, get new blades. If it is VERY old get a complete new set. Also, avoid using the blades on bone. That will dull them. Use a boning knife to slice meat fom the bone
