Answer:	I would say fast-action. It's got a pretty stiff spine. I took the 9wt and 7wt to Mexico last week. They both cast very well, and I was throwing 1/0 clousers 100' with the 9wt. Talk about a shoulder workout. It's heavy and not something you'll want to cast all-day, but is perfect for those "pick-and-choose" specifically targeted casts. Had no problem handling Sierras and green jacks.

Answer:	The weight of fly fishing lines ranges from 1 to 12. All fly line manufacturers weigh their lines in grains (14 grains in a gram). Since the US does not use the metric system, lines are numbered instead. The higher the number, the heavier the fly line. A heavier fly line casts farther, while sacrificing delicacy of presentation. A 5 or 6 weight system is good for trout and panfish on creeks and rivers. I like a 3 or 4-weight system for smaller creeks and lighter tippets, or for very wary trout on larger streams where a light tippet and small fly are required. Lines in the 7-8 weight range are good for bass, steelhead and salmon. I also like a 7-weight when long casts into lakes or ponds are needed. Answer:	Wet flies generally are used underwater. Typically they sink. Dry flies float on the water. Dry flies do get wet and may sink some, but if you use a grease called "floatant" it helps to keep them floating. Wet flies are modeled after the larva that is hatching, small bait fish that are being eaten, leeches, etc. Dry flies are modeled after adult insects that land on the water, frogs, mice, wounded bait fish, etc.

Answer:	Good question. To be honest I couldnt tell you but the way I see it is braided backing is used to build a larger arbor on your fly reel and used as an emergency line if you catch a larger fish than your target species. Braided mainline is a lot thinner and is designed to flow through the rod guides with ease where as braided backing is thicker and not designed to be cast. ie a spinning reel. Hope this helps. Answer:	Yes, 300yd will be good for it.
Question:	Has anyone tried to make braided leaders and loops with this? is this similar to cortland braided monofilament, which is difficult to find
Answer:	its braided just like backing line for a fly reel. I bought it to go around black sipping straws that make slipknots to adjust floating bobbers. They sell these knots in the fishing stores but cost quite a bit and I watched a video youtube showing how to tie these knots onto the straws so you can slip them up your line and adjust the depth of your hook below your bobber. Braided mono no, but you could make leaders out of them they are like braided dacron. Backing of the fly reel is first to go on and then connecting the main floating/sinking/weight forward fly line above the braided dacron. If you only used fly line and had a big fish on you would run out of line fast or have to pay allot of money for a fly line 2/3 times as long to catch the fish - the backing line allows you to fight the fish past the special fly line needed to catch the fish.

Question:	I received mine today and spent a while putting on backing and line, did anyone's spool move back and forth a bit and wiggle
Answer:	Wiggle? On the front side, by the winding handle, is a round thing. The sides of it are "textured" for a finger hold. Tighten it a bit, but, only FIRMLY (no pliers) and the "wiggle" should stop! The spool is probably loose!
Question:	Would this reel be usable with 12-20lb braid for salmon
Answer:	Yes, with the right weight real, itwould be fine.
Question:	Can you use in saltwater
Answer:	You can actually use just about any freshwater fly fishing reel if you take care of it during and after your fishing in salt-water. I live in Kentucky and get to fish the salt several times a year. Between days fishing in saltwater I submerge the entire reel (with line and backing in place) in a 5-gallon bucket of fresh water (changing the water daily). Then when I go back home I leave the reels in the bucket and cover it with the lid. When I get home I remove all the line and backing and wash them in warm soapy water, rinse them, let them dry while I disassemble and thoroughly clean the reels themselves. Yes ... I disassemble even the drag systems. You MUST remove all hint of salt residue (or it will eventually corrode whatever parts it is on). I lubricate them before reassembly and then wind the now completely dry backing and line ... before winding the line on I pull it through a rag soaked with Armor-All or STP Son of a Gun and buff it dry by pulling it through another soft cotton rag. Then I put a fresh leader on. My reel(s) are then ready to fish up home. Sounds like a lot of work, but it sure beats the H out of spending $600 - $1500 for a true salt-water reel.

Answer:	I solely use it in fresh, but honesty for the price to quality I would have no problem using it in saltwater. It’s very easy to disassemble and the washers for drag can be replaced, so as long as you rinse it off and do a full breakdown once in a while I see no reason not. However if you think a reel needs no maintenance, then go blow 400 on a hatch and realize sand and salt gets in everything

Answer:	depends on what type of fly you'll be using, and what species of salmon you're chasing for dry flies and land locked salmon 5,6, or 7x would work, for Atlantics and wet flies or streamers you'll want to use something heavier like 1,2 or 3x, same for Pacific salmon ultimately it depends on how heavy of a fly you're trying to cast, a heavier fly requires a larger leader to present it properly, and conversely with lighter flies
Question:	I want a leader with a 4 pound Tippit. What x size would that be
Answer:	Instead of looking at in pounds I would look at it by fly size. Just take what ever size fly and divide by three. I use alot of 12 flies so I use 4x 12 divided by 3 is 4. I sometimes use a 5x when I want to switch around up to a little bigger flies.

Answer:	Actually no. Most modern tapered (extruded) monofilament or fluorocarbon leaders have a level part at the front end. 9-foot tapered packaged leaders leaders have 24" of tippet already attached, 7.5-foot leaders have 18" of tippet already attached. This level is called the tippet and it is what is designated as an nX (n being from 0 to 8 where 0 is rather thick and 8 is ridiculously thin) diameter. Whenever you buy tapered packaged leaders, you should also buy a spool of Tippet Material that is the same nX designation ... these spools cost about the same as one tapered leader. If you use up, about 3" of the tippet with each fly you tie on, after 8 flies the tippet is gone/used up and you are left with just the tapered leader. Instead of then throwing the tapering part away and buying a new leader (complete with tippet), you should tie on a 30" piece of monofilament or fluorocarbon that is the same diameter as was the original tippet ... thereby extending the leader/tippet back to its original length ... so you can then tie on another 8 flies before you have to replace the tippet again. You can do this about 10 or 11 times before all the tippet material on a spool of it is used up. The package pictured here is for six 9-foot tapered leaders each of which has 24" of tippet ... but the description says they are 7.5-foot leaders. 7X is very very thin and should be used only for tying flies in the 24, 26, 28 and 30 sizes. The 7X usually has a low breaking point of maybe a pound or 1.5 pound strength. All beginning fly fisher books have pretty good explanations (and sometimes a chart) describing this. Answer:	Generally yes. I look for invisibility and abrasion resistance in freshwater. In salt water you want more abrasion resistance due to teeth in the species you fish for.

Question:	ok since every company has different weight on the tippet for a given 4x or 5x tippet how are you supposed to know the poundage weight of this stuff
Answer:	Personally I equate this to the same weights used by Orvis or Scientific Angler. I do find it to be thinner and stronger than mono. You might be able to go one size lighter. I like the way it allows the fly to land softly.
