| Answer: | Yes, absolutely. Our basement was overrun by fungus gnats this summer, due to all the rain, I suppose. We have two fluorescent utility lights, that have the protective grid underneath the bulbs. I cut the traps in half, and stuck them to the top of the grid (underneath the bulbs). The secret was leaving the lights on 24/7. It was astounding how many gnats were caught every day, but I never saw one airborne after that. I also tried this with the newer LED utility lights, but the gnats ignored those. |

However if you are seeing what appears to be what I call "globules" then it is fair to say that the product is old and has had some settling and weird molecular bonding going on. I always used to buy 5 gallon jugs to take advantage of the savings but I have noticed a shelf life of about six months for botanicare stuff and I don't use enough product to get through the big jugs in that time frame so i started ordering smaller quantities. Silica is also used as a pH up like the brand name product.However, if you are applying to garden soils the microbiology in the soil should regulate the pH in the rhizosphere... So, in this case, no it does not. In indoor xponics or soilless mediums, it most definitely needs to be set to a correct pH range for the plants being grown. Hope this helps. |
