Answer:	Yes, you can put a wooden bench on top of it. It will cushion your knees and shins nicely. You can see for yourself if it works best for you to allow your feet to go over the side of the cushion (less strain on the ankle), which is what I do.

Answer:	In theory the cover (for the round cushion, not the mat) is washable, but it's not very practical in that regard. Beneath the handle is a small zippered hole. In order to empty and wash the cushion, you'd have to pour out all the loose buckwheat filling, wash and dry the cushion and then pour it all back in the small hole. Is it possible? Yes. Is it designed to be washed separately? I'd say no, it has a hole to add or remove some filling. Hope that helps.

Our zafu is a round traditional meditation cushion with pleated sides. The cover is made of cotton twill fabric. The zafu is stuffed with buckwheat hulls and is adjustable with zipper opening. All our zafus are double-stitched for extra strength and come with a carrying handle. Each zafu is approximately 14" in diameter and 7" in height and and weight 7 lbs. The zabuton is filled with natural kapok. The kapok is packed to provide solid support, and yet is soft and comfort. The outer cover is made of cotton twill fabric and has a zipper along one length so that it can be easily removed and washed. Inside the cover, the kapok is enclosed in a casing. Each zabuton is approximately 30" long by 28" wide and may fits people up to 5' 10" tall. Made in USA.

Question:	Is the cushion organic or just the cover
Answer:	Greetings M. Flaig-No need to apologize for your question. Welcome to the wonderful world of meditation :-). The top cushion is called the Zafu and that's what you sit on. Traditional meditation sitting pose is to sit with your legs crossed and your feet resting on the opposite leg....but this is a challenging position to maintain for very long for beginners. It is called the "full lotus (like lotus flower) position". The "half lotus position" is the same, but you only have one foot resting on the opposite leg. The large, bottom cushion is called a Zabuton and is where you rest your knees. If you can, it's best and more comfortable to rest your weight on your knees on the Zabuton and this helps keep your posture upright and your back straight. I have loved my buckwheat set. It's very comfortable. You can also start out with just crossed legs until you have meditated for awhile before trying the lotus positions. You can Google pictures of the poses so you can see what they look like. Best of luck to you and remember to enjoy every moment of watching your breath go in and out :-).
