Answer:	The problem with residential carpet or an anti-fatigue mat is that the cushion "eats up" the instability and makes it very easy to stand upon. They may or may not work for you, but we would recommend a rigid mat like our UpCycled Mat, piece of wood or something else that will give you a hard surface to put the Plane upon. Hope that helps

Answer:	I would think that as long as you attached your home made weight in a manner similar to what is designed, that is, with a hole (minimum of 3/4 inch diameter) in it for the attaching rod to pass through, then you should be OK.

Answer:	Yes you can. I use it with both. The part where the rope connects to the weight shaft disconnects with a little crab claw like hook that is small enough to fit through any free weight that I've ever come across.
