14 best paintball tanks

Paintball tanks, also known as air tanks or HPA (High-Pressure Air) tanks, are a critical component of paintball equipment used to power paintball markers (guns). These tanks store compressed air or carbon dioxide (CO2) at high pressures, which is then used to propel paintballs through the marker's barrel. Here are some key points about paintball tanks:

  1. Types of Paintball Tanks:

    • High-Pressure Air (HPA) Tanks: These tanks use compressed air, typically filled to pressures ranging from 3,000 to 4,500 psi. HPA tanks are preferred by many players due to their consistency and reliability in various weather conditions.
    • CO2 Tanks: Some paintball markers are compatible with CO2 tanks, which store carbon dioxide in liquid form. CO2 tanks are less common nowadays but are still used in some beginner setups.
  2. Tank Capacity: Paintball tanks come in various sizes, typically measured in cubic inches (ci) or liters (L). Common sizes include 48ci, 68ci, and 88ci for HPA tanks. The larger the tank, the more shots you can fire before needing to refill.

  3. Tank Material: HPA tanks are typically made from lightweight materials such as aluminum or carbon fiber. Carbon fiber tanks are lighter but can be more expensive. CO2 tanks are usually made of aluminum.

  4. Tank Regulators: Most paintball tanks have a built-in regulator that controls the air pressure delivered to the marker. Regulators ensure a consistent and safe pressure for the marker to operate efficiently.

  5. Fill Stations: Paintball tanks can be refilled at paintball fields, shops, or using personal fill stations at home. It's crucial to follow safety guidelines and use the appropriate equipment when filling tanks.

  6. Tank Thread Types: Paintball tanks have specific thread types that must match the threading on your marker's ASA (Air Source Adapter). Common thread types include DIN, Yoke, and Paintball (ASA).

  7. Tank Safety: Proper care and maintenance are essential for paintball tanks. Regularly inspect tanks for damage, and ensure they are within their hydrostatic testing date. Tanks must undergo hydrostatic testing periodically to ensure they are safe to use.

  8. Tank Output Pressure: Different markers may require specific output pressures from the tank regulator. It's crucial to check your marker's requirements and adjust the tank's regulator accordingly.

  9. Remote Lines: Some players prefer to use remote lines, which allow them to attach the tank to a harness or vest, reducing the weight on the marker. This can improve maneuverability during gameplay.

  10. Tank Cover and Accessories: Tank covers are available to protect the tank from scratches and provide a better grip. Additionally, some tanks come with features like pressure gauges and on/off valves for added convenience.

Choosing the right paintball tank depends on your playing style, marker compatibility, and preferences. It's important to prioritize safety, proper maintenance, and adherence to regulations when using and filling paintball tanks to ensure a safe and enjoyable paintball experience.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the mad dog remote coil work with this because mine is not doing anything when I hook it up not even wen I press nipple on top
Answer: What I did was, instead of pushing the straw into the cone attachment, I pushed the straw *out* of the cone attachment, then attached the merged units onto the duster. Hope that helps.
Question: What connectors does this use? For refill and for output
Answer: No, it is not ESD safe, but can be used if careful. The material is plastic which is an insulator that holds a charge. We are talking potentially thousands of volts! Keep the nozzles at least a few inches away from the motherboard or any electronics, spray from a distance, this is a powerful blower so it still works great. Never use the brushes on anything internal, only use them on case exterior, keyboard, etc.
Question: Am I going to die if I put this on a mini gs
Answer: The amount of pressure is very close to canned air, just a bit less than a full can of air. There is no build up limit, the power reaches 100% upon flipping the "On" switch. There are 2 speeds.
Question: Does it use compressed air
Answer: No you don’t need to remove the fans. They need to be blown out also. Just make sure you unplug the power before blowing it out.

Answer: Not completely sure what that is but if it’s meant to cover the area where you fill the tank then no. It does not.
Question: Whats the rehydro date
Answer: All of the tanks are good for 5 years from the date they are born and then require a rehydro test which will certify them for another 5 years. You can re certify the tank a total of 2 times to give you a maximum of 15 years of life. Once a tank is 15 years old (15 years from its born on date / initial hydro) it is considered expired. Each tank has a different initial date based on when the bottle was manufactured and this is specific per tank. Most retailers will restock often and the hydro dates are usually under a year old unless otherwise specified.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it fit any gun example empire axe
Answer: yea it fits just about all paintball markers
Question: Does this include the low pressure piston as well
Answer: No, the regulator style on these tanks do not use different pressure pistons. The regulator you are thinking about is the Pro Reg that comes on the extra lite bottles. Those regs use a pistons to change out low and high pressure.
Question: What is the typical cost difference for filling hpa vs co
Answer: Black Ops fields charge $5 to fill hpa tanks. That’s about average industry wide for hpa. Co2 tanks usually cost 5-10$ to fill although there are less and less places offering C02 fills as hpa is talking over as a more efficient and commonly available system. We don’t offer c02 fills or tanks at any of our stores
Question: Can this infate my PCP rifle to 3,300 psi
Answer: Even though this tank has an internal pressure of 4500 PSI, the regulator that is included with this tank will cut off the output of the tank at 800 PSI. Assuming you have the adapters to connect this tank your your PCP rifle, this tank will fill your rifle to 800 PSI and then stop. If you are trying to get a higher output you would need a different regulator that allowed that output.

User questions & answers

Question: What year is the DOT stamp
Answer: 1/2 inmch
Question: What year is the DOT stamp
Answer: Yes. There should have been better photos, including the opposite side. The product description should have included the details you asked for. The current product description is incorrect - there is no gauge or hose included, just what you see in the photo. Look up the JEGS Performance Products W10056 manifold - it's the same part, but with more accurate description and 4 photos. The gauge port is threaded 1/8 NPT, and the output is 1/4 NPT. These are common sizes for a mini gauge and standard air fittings and/or hose ends.
Question: How long do they last for? Some say only 5 years and nobody will fill it
Answer: Made in China. And actually only has a two year destroy date stamped on the tank itself.
Question: I bought a 2 pack of Tippmann 48ci high pressure aluminum cylinder tanks new. But they came empty. Are they supposed to come filled or empty
Answer: Remember all tanks are shipped empty and would need to be filled before use but all remote lines should work with this style tank.
