The .22 operates at subsonic speed which is less than the speed of sound meaning it is quieter than the .177 which doesn't operate at subsonic speeds. The .22 caliber also has more stopping power because of the larger diameter pellet which also makes the pellet heavier so it can be used for larger game (like rabbit sized) than the .177 (like squirrel sized). |

| Answer: | Scope seemed pretty good quality until I go to zero it in and after just 3 shots the reticle had rotated within the scope almost 15 degrees. It's too bad because the rifle looked nice. I own a few other Gamo rifles with over 500 shots on them and have never had a problem with any of the scopes so maybe this one was just from a defective batch. I sent it back. |

| Answer: | How are you trying to cock it? You have to take the barrel and bend it down until it clicks and easy the bring back up into position. It's not real easy to do but doable once you know how. Just try a little harder. If it still doesn't want to cock send it back. Always use prime so if there is ever a problem you can ship it back for free. If you didn't lesson learned and bite the bullet and the the useless gun back. |

| Answer: | Does not have dual power but is an excellent product. I have an original hand pump model 130 , early 60s which I rebuilt and have to say the quality is still in this air pistol. If you want decreased power I recommend the newer pump model. you can pump them from 3 to 8 pumps and have more than sufficient power. Advantage to pump style is it never runs out of Co2. Only reason I bought 2240 is arthritic hands. If you are only interested in target shooting I'd recommend the .177 cal models. The pellets are cheaper and the Co2 lasts a little longer. Another thing to consider is that if you only want to shoot 20 or less pellets at a time I have found leakage of the Co2 unavoidable since the first cartridge was installed and as much as 40 shots possible feeds the trees. So if you want to chase or kill varments once in a while the pump models are best. Please remember, THIS IS A DANGEROUS WEAPON AND THE PELLETS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY! |

| Answer: | I've put a cartridge in mine, fired it a couple of times, set it down for weeks, picked it back up and it is fine. No apparent loss of pressure. Michael's answer of around 70 shots is probably pretty accurate. I haven't counted but you can definitely tell when the cartridge needs changing. You can hear when the pellet doesn't have the same punch behind it and the pellets start hitting low. I think it may be more like 50 shots? I know that when I do notice the cartridge needs changing, I unscrew the cap and only get a short "phisst" and that is it. It's empty. It uses all the CO2 effectively. |

| Answer: | I have notOwned the Optimus in .177 caliber. I have hit crows at over 50 yards no problem with the .22 Optimus. If you sight in the scope that it comes with, you should have no problem shooting 1 inch patterns at over 50 yards. The .22 does shoot 200 fps lower than the .177. There are a lot of factors that affect accuracy. One factor on accuracy is pellet quality. Cheap pellets have less accuracy than ones that are better quality. I have tried the hollow point, super point, and the destroyer pellets. They are all good pellets. If you are looking for accuracy just use on type of pellet and sight your scope in at about 35 yards. The rifle has a lot of power! |

| Answer: | I shoot squirrels at 50 to 75 feet with perfect acuracy with the aid of the 4X magnification scope that comes with this gun. I was originally suspicious of the 1200 fps rating, that is powered only by a break-over barrel that compresses an air chamber with a strong spring. This gun is MUCH MORE POWERFUL than the Crossman pellet gun that I had purchased a few years ago from Amazon. I highly reccommend it for its power, acuracy due to the HIGH-QUALITY SCOPE. The scope on my previous Crossman pellet gun was NOT nearly as good as this model is. I am highly satisfied, & have killed many squirels with this model gun that I have had for 6 months. It is also much easier to cock than the pump up models of Crossman/Benjamin pellet guns that I have had starting as far back as a teenager, when I killed rabbits with my Benjamin pellet rifle. |

So that said it is a solid and accurate piece of gear for what it was designed to do. Mine is accurate to 20-25 yards in a 2” group. Beyond that it loses some of that accuracy and power. This is an air gun and won’t have the same trajectory or punch that a rim fire .22 will have, but for the money and how cheap ammo is, it is a fun fun to shoot and a great gun for teaching younger shooter. Plus, it will get the job done for smaller game. |
