10 best red dot sight for ar15 acog
A red dot sight for an AR-15 with an ACOG (Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight) is a popular combination for enhancing accuracy and target acquisition in shooting sports and tactical applications. Here's what you need to know about this setup:
Red Dot Sight: A red dot sight is a non-magnifying reflector sight used on firearms. It provides a clear, illuminated red dot or reticle on the lens that the shooter uses as an aiming point. Red dot sights are known for their speed and ease of use, allowing for rapid target acquisition.
AR-15: The AR-15 is a lightweight, air-cooled, gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle known for its versatility and widespread use in civilian, law enforcement, and military applications. It is often customized with various accessories to suit the shooter's needs.
ACOG: The ACOG is a magnified optic, typically used by military and law enforcement personnel. It combines magnification with a durable and rugged design. ACOGs are known for their clarity, reliability, and the ability to maintain accuracy in adverse conditions.
Combining Red Dot Sight with ACOG: Some shooters opt to mount a red dot sight in tandem with their ACOG. This setup offers the benefits of both systems. The ACOG provides magnification for precise long-range shots, while the red dot sight offers quick target acquisition at closer ranges.
Mounting Options: Mounting a red dot sight in conjunction with an ACOG can be achieved using a variety of mounts, including offset mounts or mount accessories designed specifically for this purpose. The red dot sight is typically positioned at a 45-degree angle to the ACOG, allowing the shooter to quickly transition between magnified and non-magnified aiming.
Use Cases: This setup is particularly useful in situations where a shooter needs to engage targets at varying distances rapidly. For example, in three-gun competitions, law enforcement scenarios, or military operations, the combination of an ACOG and a red dot sight allows for versatility and adaptability.
Training: Transitioning between the two sights effectively requires training and practice to become proficient. Shooters must learn when to use the red dot sight for close-quarters engagements and when to use the ACOG for longer-range shots.
Cost: The cost of a red dot sight for an AR-15 with an ACOG can vary significantly depending on the brand, quality, and specific features of the red dot sight chosen. High-quality options are available to suit various budgets.
In summary, combining a red dot sight with an ACOG on an AR-15 is a practical approach for shooters who need versatility in their optics setup. It allows for quick target acquisition at close ranges while maintaining the ability to engage targets accurately at longer distances using the magnification of the ACOG. This combination is well-suited for a range of shooting sports, tactical situations, and outdoor activities.

StrikeFire II Red/Green Dot Sight (SF-RG-501)
When situations demand split-second target acquisition and maximum field of view, mount up the StrikeFire II and shoot—both eyes open. Feature-rich, versatile and reliable, the StrikeFire II is a great choice for shooters who want a quality red dot sight. Features sleek rear-facing controls for power on/off and easy adjustment of ten dot intensity levels—lowest two settings are night-vision compatible. Automatically returns to the last dot intensity used when powered up. The 30mm aluminum alloy chassis provides extra-high recoil rating and is waterproof and fogproof. Strike fast!
The lower 1/3 co-witness cantilever mount model is ideal for rifle platforms, positioning the optic bore center 40 mm above the base surface.
Red/Green Dot Reticle
The 4 MOA Red/Green Dot is ideal for situations that demand split-second target acquisition. Choose among ten variable illumination settings—the lowest two settings are night-vision compatible.
The key thing to remember when shooting with the StrikeFire II red dot is to keep both your eyes open! Shooting with both eyes open allows you to take full advantage of your peripheral vision to get on target very quickly. Eye placement is not critical. As long as you can see the dot, you’ll hit your target!
Windage and Elevation Adjustments
The StrikeFire II red dot incorporates elevation and windage dials with audible clicks. Each small click will move the point-of-impact 1/2 Minute of Angle (MOA). 1/2 MOA will correspond to 1/2 inch at 100 yards, 1/4 inch at 50 yards, 1/8 inch at 25 yards, etc.
Adjust the elevation and windage settings:
1. Remove the dial covers.
2. Use the raised bar on the dial cover, a coin or screw driver to make the adjustments.
3. Turn the adjustment dial in the appropriate direction as indicated by the arrow on the dial. Move the dial in the direction you wish the bullet’s point-of-impact to change.
Mounting the StrikeFire II
To get the best results from your StrikeFire II red dot, proper mounting is essential and, although not difficult, the correct steps must be followed. Your firearm will need to be equipped with a Picatinny or Weaver style rail/base.
To attach the included cantilever ring mount:
1. Attach the lower part of the cantilever ring mount to the rail/base and make sure this is solidly seated in the base groove. To prevent recoil injury, position the ring so that you have at least four inches of eye relief.
2. Be sure the base clamp is hooked around the outside of the rail/base. Press downward and forward toward the muzzle. Then, firmly tighten the base clamp hex nut.
3. Place the StrikeFire II on the lower part of the cantilever ring mount with the adjustment control buttons facing the shooter. Tighten ring cap screws evenly until all are snug—use caution so as not to over-tighten. Once the screws are tightened, the StrikeFire II should not move on the rail/base.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this sight co-witness with magpul mbus blip-up backup sights |
Answer: | Yes we have used ours many times. You just need this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00YEEDJF6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490656143&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=boom+pole+holder&dpPl=1&dpID=41Rbc4HYQKL&ref=plSrch |
Question: | how long is battery life |
Answer: | They are just regular turtle based legs. They will have a bit of resistance when collapsed or when moved into their respective spots. I always just grab the inside leg and the outside and pull them in separate directions. They all should also have a notch in which they lock in place once opened all the way. |
Question: | does this come with a mount riser |
Answer: | No, this particular model does not. |
Question: | I'm kind of on a tight budget I was either think of this or the UTG 4'' ITA red dot. What im wondering is if this one is worth getting |
Answer: | Yes. We run Alien Bees and/or White Lightning with a 47" octabox. You will need sand bags just to be safe. If your concern is the 47" box with a 4' arm, remember the 47" box is a diameter measurement, you will only need half that to clear the holding arm. |
Product features

Question: | How does this sight power on |
Answer: | Hey Kevin ... I don't think you want to put this red dot sight on your glock because it would be just too big and too heavy for a pistol. I would not recommend it. Hope this would help you out. |
Question: | Is it a nerf gun sight |
Answer: | The right side |
Question: | Can be installed on the glock pistol |
Answer: | According to the Sig Manual it states that it has 8 daytime and 2 NV (night vision) settings. So in theory it should. I, however have not tried it, since I do not own any infrared equip. lights etc. |

Question: | Weight of item only |
Answer: | Hello, This product is not a aim scope, it is only a laser. We only adjust it to be straight about at 10-15 meters at factory. There are four small screws at the bigger end to adjust if the laser is not in the center. But we don't suggest customers to adjust that. Freely contact us if there is off-center issue, we will arrange a replacement. Thanks for your asking! Customer Team of StrongTools |

Question: | Night vision compatable? What does this actually mean? Has amyone used it at night? Can you actually see |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit on a h&r single shot rifle |
Answer: | It fits a Picatinny rail. You can likely install one if your firearm doesn't already have one. |
Question: | What is the expected battery life on this |
Answer: | Sorry for jumping in here late, but just wanted to add that John was 100% correct on his answer. If the brightness is set too high for the ambient light conditions, you can get a "starburst" effect. We recommend running red dot sights at the lowest brightness setting that you can still clearly see the dot (the exact setting will depend on ambient light) |
Question: | How easy will it be to see a man sized target at 300m |
Answer: | That shouldn't happen. Best is to contact them, I believe they will replace faulty red dot sights. The laser and red dot are independent from each other. If you push the Red Dot button it should turn on. & When you turn off you have to press it for like 5 seconds. Just contact the company. |
Question: | HOW CLEAR ARE THE RED AND GREEN DOTS |
Answer: | I have a magpul flip up rear and iron on the barrel. My red dot sight is mounted just in front of of the flip rear. My reticle when sighted hovers just above my front iron sight but I can see my magpul rear through the optic if need be. Hope this helps. I love this optic on my AR |
