Answer:	The short answer is I don't know. I have not dropped it into water or mud but I would think you could just clean it off with a damp soft cloth...no soap. I don't know if it is 'waterproof' but it's made to be used in weather conditions like rain or snow. You can also check with Suunto for additional information.

Answer:	The Compass comes with a good quality nylon pouch that secures with a snap. There is a sturdy strip of heavy nylon on the backside of the pouch to allow it to be secured to web gear with either Alice or Molle type clips. The compass also comes with a nylon lanyard of good quality to allow it to be carried around your neck if desired. This is a well made compass and worth the money in my opinion. I hope this helps.
Question:	I just took a night time navagation course and am wondering if you can set a bearing with this without the use of a flashlight
Answer:	I have NOT purchased this item so I cannot verify that it meets the MIL-SPEC. But If this is made to MIL-SPEC the bezel will have 120 detent notches that correspond to three degrees of arc. Rotate the bezel to set the luminous line to align with the fixed black line. Then rotate the bezel one click for every three degrees between NORTH and the desired course. Simple example: to travel west (270° Magnetic) rotate the bezel 30 clicks clockwise. Then when you align the north seeking arrow with the luminous line 270° will be under the black line. Of course with this style compass you have to do the math to correct for the mag. deviation in your area. If you want a compass that handles that for you, consider a Silva Ranger or similar where you declinate the compass to whatever area you are navigating and don't have to do the math. But the Silva does NOT have radioactive markings so you will need to "charge it" with a light from time to time which goes back to your original question. I used the military issue compasses for several decades and thought they were great, especially the older version that had a Radium paint rather than Tritium. Radium dials were far brighter and had a long half life decay.

Answer:	If I understand your question correctly, I would suggest that you can rotate the top bezel to put in your area declination so that it shows it shows where true north or any other actual (true) direction is. I assume you are aware that the declination is different in the different locations/zones throughout the U.S.

Answer:	A true north indicator, a magnetic declination indicator and a declination value for your location are printed on all topographic maps or you can get the declination value on line for your zip code. Google: https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag-web/. You must ADD a WEST declination value to your compass heading or SUBTRACT an EAST declination value for your location. Example: When using a topo map, orient the map to true north. Your target compass heading is 48 degrees. The magnetic declination for your location map is 10 degrees west. The actual course to follow to arrive at a map coordinate (target point) is 58 degrees. Without the correction, an aircraft pilot would miss his destination by almost 1/4 mile for every 10 miles of flight. Just remember this ditty: "WEST is BEST and EAST is LEAST". Magnetic declination is not an issue for line-of-sight - point to point travel as when hiking. Really! It is not difficult and you can do this.

Answer:	As best I can ascertain, the compass shown in this photo is the Suunto 'MC-2/G/DL' (Global Needle with Metric romers) and an inch ruler on the right side with a bezel marked in standard 360 degrees. The 'MC-2G In' is the one made with the global needle and the romers in the English system (inches) with the bezel marked in the standard 360 degrees (the one I wanted). The 'MC-2/G/6400' I believe is the military version with metric romers and the bezel marked in "Mils" as opposed to the customary 360 degrees. If you need a compass for calling in artillery strikes - a man is entitled to a few fantasies ; ) - the 6400 model is the one. There are at least 3 different versions of this compass and most of the pics on the net are wrong. Do your homework or buy in person at a brick and mortar if possible.

Answer:	As someone who just purchased the "Suunto MC-2G In Global Compass" according to this description, please note that as you compare the version colors. The $38.65 "Suunto MC-2G In Global Compass" (according to the product title) was actually a northern hemisphere only compass- not a global. The color called it, "NH USGS Mirror Compass" and the other color options included, "Black", "G Mirror Compass", and "USGS Mirror Compass" - all listed under the MC-2G title. So the sellers are probably selling the compass in the incorrect product title. Still a good deal if you're ok with a northern hemisphere model.

Answer:	I use my compass in the US and I use centimeters. Most maps have scales in both inches and centimeters. If you use UTM based coordinates you can get your maps so they have the UTM grid in 1 kilometer squares, makes it easy to use a map protractor and grid to find your location. Hope this helps.

Answer:	Mine clearly has a 1:24,000 scale rather than a 1:25,000 scale.

Answer:	Setting declination is different from rotating the entire dial - it is adjusting the interior arrow relative to the degree markings. Rather the arrow printed on the bottom layer is actually on a thin, filmy plastic layer that you can rotate by pressing and twisting. It is a little difficult to move, so hopefully wont get moved out of place accidentally.

Answer:	No detents. But the bezel does not exhibit unintended movement during use. It is a pretty nice compass for the money. I bought two! ;-)

Answer:	I own both and both compasses are good: compact, rotating outer bezel ring, however the difference is one can be wore on a neck lanyard and the other can be placed on wristwatch strap. Suunto is more compact compared to the Sun Mini Comp Ii, the latter offers a straight edge if used in conjunction with a map. Each is outfitted into 2 separate Personal Survival Kits (PSK).
