12 best snowboard bindings

Snowboard bindings are a crucial component of a snowboard setup, as they serve as the connection between the rider's boots and the snowboard itself. These bindings play a significant role in a snowboarder's ability to control the board, turn, and perform tricks. Here are some key points about snowboard bindings:

  1. Attachment to the Snowboard: Snowboard bindings are attached to the board using a set of screws or discs. They typically have a highback (a vertical support) that rises behind the heel of the boot and a baseplate that attaches to the snowboard.

  2. Compatibility: It's important to ensure that your bindings are compatible with your specific snowboard model. Snowboard bindings come in various sizes to fit different boot sizes and styles.

  3. Strap-In System: Most snowboard bindings use a strap-in system. This system includes two main straps: the ankle strap and the toe strap. The ankle strap secures the rider's ankle firmly to the binding, while the toe strap secures the front of the boot.

  4. Highbacks: Highbacks are the vertical supports on the back of the bindings. They provide support to the rider's calf and help with control and stability during turns. Highbacks are typically adjustable in terms of lean angle to accommodate different riding styles.

  5. Binding Flex: Snowboard bindings come in varying degrees of flex, ranging from soft to stiff. The flex of the bindings can impact the rider's control and the type of riding they want to do. Soft bindings are more forgiving and suited for freestyle tricks, while stiff bindings offer better response and control for carving and high-speed riding.

  6. Mounting Options: Snowboard bindings can be mounted using different configurations, such as traditional 2x4 and 4x4 hole patterns or newer channel systems. The choice of mounting system depends on the snowboard's design and compatibility.

  7. Riding Style: There are different types of bindings designed for specific riding styles. These include all-mountain bindings (versatile for various terrain), freestyle bindings (for park and trick riding), and freeride bindings (for off-piste and powder riding). Riders should choose bindings that match their preferred style.

  8. Entry Systems: Some bindings feature quick-entry systems, which allow riders to get in and out of the bindings more easily. These systems are popular for convenience, especially among beginner riders.

  9. Boot Compatibility: It's essential to ensure that your snowboard boots are compatible with the bindings. The boots should fit snugly into the bindings without any gaps or discomfort.

  10. Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as checking screws and straps for tightness and making sure all components are in good condition, is important for safety and performance.

In summary, snowboard bindings are a critical piece of equipment for snowboarders, providing the connection between their boots and the snowboard. They come in various styles, flex levels, and mounting options to cater to different riding preferences and conditions, enhancing the overall snowboarding experience.

IMPORTANT:

They are rated a medium flex and pair well with a "firm" type boot. As a new or avid snowboarder you will really enjoy the handling properties they afford when under riding resistance. This rig is a great way to gain confidence as a snowboarder and will aid in the development of your skills

STAUBER Dyna Snowboard Bindings Adjustable Features Description

IMPORTANT:

(Please note, the instructions below are to illustrate the correct method to unbuckle your bindings from your boot at the base of a run. Using the correct method to unbuckle your bindings will help to prevent snow jamming, difficulty unbuckling, sit to unbuckle, and falls).

  • IMPORTANT: Package Binding Size Details: - Large Bindings fit a boot size 9.5US - 12US - Medium Bindings fit a boot size kids 6US - adult 9US

Adjustable Highback

The idea behind this design is to give snowboarders the ability to change their stance according to their riding styles. This option to change the angulation of your high-back is highly beneficial. For example, a more vertical position will give a Beginner Snowboarder the stability needed to initiate carves more confidently. As you begin to lower the angle the result is a more aggressive performing snowboard binding. Take advantage of this feature as you get more familiar with your bindings.

Customize your Dyna Bindings:

Equally convenient, the slotted groves located underneath your bindings are critical for setting up your rig to best fit your riding style. changing the position of the toe strap will pull your boot in for a more secure connection.

Ankle & Toe Strap Position

~ Make the appropriate adjustments to ensure the fitting of both ankle and toe strap are centrally positioned over your boot. A little to the left or right could negatively impact your snowboarding performance.

Correct: Left Hand, Left Foot/ Right Hand, Right Foot

Using this method to unbuckle your bindings will put your hand in the "correct" orientation to release the lever smoothly.

  1. When it's time to unbuckle your left bindings, reach down with your left hand.
  2. When it's time to unbuckle your right binding, reach down with your right hand

Correct: Use Thumb to Engage Release Lever

In this position, engage the release lever using your Thumb.

  1. Put your four fingers on the strap and your thumb on the release lever
  2. Push down on the release lever and use your four fingers to pull the strap back as the release lever is engaged with your thumb.

Correct: Press Release Lever Back Using Your Thumbs

This is a close up illustration of the thumb engaging the green highlighted release lever.

  1. The lever was designed to be used with your thumb to properly unbuckle your bindings.
  2. This is to prevent the straps from loosening during your runs down the mountain.

Wrong: Left Hand, Right Foot/ Right Hand, Left Foot

Using this method to unbuckle your bindings will put your hand in the "wrong" orientation to release the lever smoothly.

  1. Avoid reaching down to your binding buckle using the opposite hand as foot.
  2. Using the opposite hand will encourage you to use your index finger edge to release the buckle.
  3. Using your Index Finger edge will most likely slip or cause the release lever to stick to the snow build up.

Wrong: Using The Outer Edge of your Index Finger

In this position, you can see the index finger is trying to engage the release lever while the remaining four fingers are not supporting the strap.

  1. When using the edge of your index finger to release the lever you are likely to slip off the lever or press the lever "in" as opposed to "down."
  2. Without the support of your other four fingers to lift the strap, the strap will require more effort to be released.

Wrong: Press Release Lever Back Using your Index Finger

This is a close up illustration showing the edge of the index finger engaging the red highlighted release lever.

  1. Our binding buckles were not designed to be used this way.
  2. The edge of your index finger is likely to slip off considering the snow build up and lack of surface contact.
  3. To properly release your binding buckles please see the correct method in the above illustration.
