When using the standard traditional blade fin, with the leg completely extended, there remains an angle of 27 degrees between the heel and the foot and the calf of the leg, causing a 10% loss of propulsion. Answer: I would say yes. I use fitted fins and swim 130+ miles a year with zero issues. I have used the adjustable strap fins years ago and found them to rub on my heels without booties. The Jet Sport fins are the best I have used in over 8 years of lap swimming and 3 other brands.
