13 best scuba fins
Scuba fins, also known as diving fins or flippers, are essential equipment for divers, snorkelers, and water sports enthusiasts. They play a crucial role in underwater propulsion, stability, and maneuverability. Here are some key aspects related to scuba fins:
Design and Types:
- Open Heel vs. Full Foot Fins: Open heel fins require the use of dive boots and are adjustable, offering more power. Full foot fins are worn without boots and are often preferred for warm water diving.
- Blade Design: Fins come with various blade designs, including paddle fins, split fins, and vented fins. Each design affects performance and efficiency differently.
Materials:
- Traditional Materials: Fins were traditionally made from rubber or plastic. While these materials are still used, modern fins often incorporate advanced materials like composite plastics, fiberglass, and carbon fiber for improved strength and flexibility.
Size and Fit:
- Proper Sizing: Getting the right size is crucial for comfort and efficiency underwater. Fins that are too tight or too loose can cause discomfort and affect performance.
- Adjustable Straps: Many fins have adjustable straps to ensure a secure fit. Quick-release buckles make it easy to put on and take off the fins.
Buoyancy and Weight:
- Neutral Buoyancy: Some fins are designed to be neutrally buoyant to minimize leg fatigue during long dives.
- Lightweight Construction: Manufacturers often use lightweight materials to reduce the overall weight of the fins without compromising strength.
Kick Styles:
- Flutter Kick: Most divers use a flutter kick, and fins are designed to provide optimal performance for this common kicking style.
- Frog Kick and Scissor Kick: Some divers prefer alternative kicking styles, and certain fins may be better suited for these techniques.
Travel-Friendly Fins:
- Compact Design: Travel fins are often more compact and lightweight, making them convenient for divers who frequently travel.
Snorkeling Fins:
- Short Fins: Snorkeling fins are typically shorter than scuba diving fins, allowing for easier surface swimming. They are often more flexible and provide less resistance in the water.
Maintenance:
- Rinsing After Use: It's important to rinse fins with fresh water after each use, especially if they have been in saltwater. This helps prevent corrosion and extends the lifespan of the equipment.
When choosing scuba fins, personal preference, diving conditions, and the diver's skill level should be taken into consideration. Proper maintenance and care will ensure the longevity of the fins and enhance the overall diving experience.

Cressi’s latest addition to its extensive line of world renowned fins is the Frog Plus open heel scuba diving fin. The Frog Plus features many of the great characteristics of a traditional paddle fin along with introducing a revolutionary new blade material that is both extremely durable and nearly indestructible. The Frog Plus utilizes Cressi’s patented three material injection molding process. The three materials consist of a nice comfortable rubber on the foot pocket that extends up the side rails of the blade. The second material is the revolutionary new dual density techno polymer which forms the blade, and in conjunction with the third silicone based material creates a channeling effect. The channeling effect is the characteristic of the fin that enables a high level of energy to be transferred in both up and down strokes of the kick pattern. The Frog Plus also incorporates Cressi’s patented positioning of the foot pocket below the blade. This design increases the working surface area of the blade by 20%. The combination of the channeling effect and the foot pocket mounted beneath the blade creates a very powerful and efficient fin with minimal leg strain. Because of these characteristics, the Frog Plus fin is an ideal choice for the entry level to advanced diver. The Frog Plus is designed and made in Italy by Cressi, a brand pioneer in Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, and Swimming equipment since 1946. The product is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.

User questions & answers
Question: | I wear size 10 1/5 shoe. What would you recommend, Xl or L |
Answer: | Sorry I can't answer your question, I don't know the different between them. Which I have the (Atomic Aquatics Venom Frameless), it's very clear mask but it leaks water often and it fog all the time. |
Question: | I have a men’s size 8 mares 2mm boot, what size fins should I order |
Answer: | Hi Jake, Yes, it is. Search for Atomic Venom ARC Mask. The Amazon ASIN is:B00NFW9SV2 I hope this is helpful. Wendy, Customer Service |
Question: | with a narrow foot what size should I wear |
Answer: | No you can not add a purge valve to this mask. Any mask will fog up if it is not pre-treated properly before diving. If you prepare your mask properly it will not fog. There is a rubber mold release that contaminates the glass during the manufacturing process. This needs to be removed. The Atomic approved method is to use Crest toothpaste. The soft abrasives in the toothpaste will remove the film layer. Place a few dots of toothpaste on the inside and outside glass. Rub in a circular fashion all over the glass, be sure to get all the way into the corners. Do this 3 or 4 times. Rinse well between applications. Before diving be sure to use a good mask defogger. Most of the commercially available de-foggers will work well. Be sure to follow the instructions on the defogger as some you just rub on and rinse, others you rub on like a wax and buff off. Our favorite is 500 psi or Sea Gold Gel. |
Question: | I wear a size 8 Woman’s, what size do you recommend |
Answer: | Very comfortable and purge valve works just fine |

Product features
GO Sport Fins
Lightweight, comfortable, durable, and a fast and nimble performer, SCUBAPRO's GO Sport fins are ideal for both globe-trekking divers and snorkelers.
Offering a “Boot-Fit” design with a revised Ergo3 foot pocket, the GO Sport is ideal for divers who want the kicking performance of the GO fin but prefer wearing boots. The blade features mounting points to attach optional skegs that minimize sideslip and maximize stability (multiple colors available; sold separately).
GO Sport Fins are made from ultra-strong, moldable Monprene, enabling them to stand up to long-term, heavy-duty use and avoid problems of delamination, broken blades, and torn foot pockets.
High Performance
Excelling in kicking performance, the 25-degree pre-angled blade features a Central Power Panel that provides longitudinal rigidity and creates a channeling effect.
Power Bars on the underside of the rails prevent over-flex to maintain the optimum angle of attack under high load conditions, delivering speed, power, stability and maneuverability with a minimum of effort in the water.
Versatile Fit
The open heel “boot-fit” design features a replaceable self-adjusting bungee heel strap that allows for a versatile fit and makes the fin easy to don and doff.
Ultra Strong
Ultra-strong 100% Monprene construction avoids problems of delamination, broken blades and torn foot pockets, making it ideal for long-term, heavy-duty use.
