The shirts were very comfortable and functional with their sun screen properties. Wuite satisfies with the wear and tear and if the were smelly, I didn't notice and my friends and family either didn't notice a smell or were to tactful to bring it up. SkinCancer.org's webpage "Sun-protective clothing" advises to check a fabric by holding it up to light, since if you can see through it, UV radiation will readily reach your skin. Having this product in black, and holding a single, unstretched layer of the fabric up to modest, household light, I can basically see right through it.

Answer:	Purchased for male friend who weighs 165 - probably 34" waist - this shirt runs VERY large and did not notice much difference between L & EX. That said, I would go with a large.

Answer:	My husband is 6'2 165lbs and a large is lose but not too big. I would order your normal shirt size, they run true to size in my opinion. He has a long torso so always gets a large.

Answer:	I would say no. The material snags and threads get pulled out all of the time. In addition to that, the material does not breathe at all so it wouldn't be good for any hot or muggy climates.

I bought four of these long sleeved shirts so that when I go hiking, biking and kayaking so that I don't have be worried about sunburn and these shirts seem to work for me. Reading the reviews it wasn't clear if they would also wick sweat away to stay cool but I have found for me they do. But as to your point about care I just wash them with other light clothes with no problems.
