2 best 29er mountain bikes
29er mountain bikes are a popular choice among cyclists for off-road adventures and trail riding. These bikes are known for their larger wheel size, which is 29 inches in diameter, as opposed to the smaller 26-inch wheels commonly found on traditional mountain bikes. Here's what you should know about 29er mountain bikes:
Wheel Size:
- The defining feature of a 29er mountain bike is its 29-inch wheels. These larger wheels offer several advantages over smaller wheel sizes:
- Improved rolling efficiency: Larger wheels roll over obstacles more easily, reducing rolling resistance and allowing for faster speeds on rough terrain.
- Enhanced stability: The increased wheel diameter provides better stability, especially at higher speeds and on descents.
- Smoother ride: The larger wheels help smooth out bumps and uneven terrain, resulting in a more comfortable ride.
- Better traction: The larger tire contact patch improves traction on loose or uneven surfaces.
- The defining feature of a 29er mountain bike is its 29-inch wheels. These larger wheels offer several advantages over smaller wheel sizes:
Terrain and Riding Style:
- 29er mountain bikes are well-suited for a variety of terrain, including cross-country trails, rocky descents, and technical singletracks.
- They are particularly favored by cross-country riders who prioritize efficiency and covering long distances.
- Some 29er models are designed for more aggressive trail riding and downhill use, featuring robust frames and suspension systems.
Frame and Suspension:
- 29er frames are typically designed to accommodate the larger wheel size. They may have longer wheelbases and modified geometry to maintain stability.
- Suspension systems on 29ers vary depending on the intended use. Some have full suspension (front and rear), while others are hardtail (front suspension only).
- Full-suspension 29ers are excellent for technical descents and rough terrain, offering improved control and comfort.
Advantages:
- Improved momentum: The larger wheels maintain momentum more effectively, making it easier to carry speed through obstacles.
- Enhanced rollover capability: 29ers can roll over rocks, roots, and other obstacles more smoothly, reducing the need for constant braking and acceleration.
- Better performance on uphill climbs: The larger wheel size provides improved traction and stability when climbing steep hills.
Disadvantages:
- Heavier weight: 29ers can be slightly heavier due to the larger wheels and frames, which may affect handling on very technical terrain.
- Limited maneuverability: Some riders find that 29ers are not as nimble in tight corners as bikes with smaller wheel sizes.
- Sizing considerations: Riders of shorter stature may find it challenging to find a 29er that fits them comfortably.
Popular Brands:
- Many well-known bicycle manufacturers produce 29er mountain bikes, including Trek, Specialized, Giant, Cannondale, Santa Cruz, and more.
In conclusion, 29er mountain bikes are a popular choice for riders who want the advantages of larger wheels, such as improved rolling efficiency and stability, when tackling a variety of off-road terrain. Riders should consider their specific riding style and preferences when choosing a 29er model, as there are variations designed for different types of mountain biking experiences.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this wheel fit a 29×2.20 tire |
Answer: | It is designed to be used with disc brakes. All disc brake wheels have a hollow axle with a skewer that runs through the center. The skewer has a quick release and must be removed to change the wheel. Not as quick as the old style wheels. |
Question: | Could you suggest what size tape would go with this rim |
Answer: | 135mm |
Question: | Wheel master, iam looking for a 26 inch, quick release black rim w rim brakes. i can't find these can u help |

Question: | How much weight can it hold |
Answer: | This is for a mountain bike. |
