Answer:	They are not the type of "O" rings that you are thinking of....actually they are small clear or black little "bumper" type things with holes in the middle. They slide on the inner cable in the "exposed" cable area to protect your frame from "cable slap". Mostly used on brake cables but some bikes might need them for shift cables as well.

Question:	Does the kit include a nylon sheath/protector for the rear shift cable
Answer:	It's a pretty "inexpensive" kit. You're expected to cut a piece of the brake housing to route the shift cable the rear derailleur. It's fine for friction shifting, or low count 6/7 speed indexed. If you're running 8 or more indexed it gets sloppy. I use these for my vintage bikes, but I'd spend a little more if you're rocking an 11 speed or a 1x

Answer:	Not sure what you mean by the "end". If you mean the fitting that goes into your shifter, then I don't know.
Question:	I'm helping a friend fix up her old bike and haven't touched a gripshift in decades. Are the ends inside the gripshifters the same as everything else
Answer:	I can’t say what the ends inside the grip shift might be as I don’t have that style of bike the cables have two brake cables and two shift cables. The brake cables have a larger knob while the shift cables have a smaller one. They’re not marked so take some time to look them over closely. I would at least remove one shift grip and take a look at the end. I would assume they are similar to the cable used in external shifters. Mine was the external shifter not grip shift.

Answer:	I ride a lot, I have 12 bikes. This cable is fine for my vintage, friction shifting running gear. I don’t think the cable to housing tolerance is good enough to get you really crisp indexed shifts. This is speculation, as I don’t have many indexed bikes, but if it was me, I’d go for a name brand if I wanted noticeably clean indexed shifts.

Answer:	Shift cables dont takenas much abuse as the brake cables do. Also the sheaths for the brake cables are circularly wound, to keep the brake cable from flexing. The shift cables sheaths are more of a spiral wind, flex isnt as much of an issue for shifters.
