User questions & answers

Question: For use with carbon parts? I read somewhere that "friction paste" should be used instead of "grease" for carbon parts
Answer: They are bike tube patches so they adhere to rubber to seal a hole. Don’t know about metal🤷🏼‍♀️
Question: Will this work for coil bike shocks
Answer: All the same size. About 1inch square. Never had a hole one of these couldn't patch.
Question: Should I get this for applying to my aluminum seat post
Answer: Yes they will.
Question: Is this the type of grease that is used for metal-on-metal contact on bikes
Answer: Yes. I keep a pack of these in my kit at all times. Spares for my spare if you will. I’ve had mine for a few years and they still work great.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this work on the double deluxe prs
Answer: Use (SAC-2) by Park Tools... made for that purpose. Hope this helps...
Question: I have the pcs-10, which i reduce to storage size after each use. Would the tray come off and re-attach easily, for my purposes
Answer: Should not be a problem.
Question: Will this tray fit with the PRS-25 stand? Are accessories needed to make it for properly? Interested if it doesn't require much retrofitting
Answer: You could apply this lube to whatever you want, but for seat posts, handlebars and stems the recommended material is a carbon/alloy compound or paste such as Park Tool SuperGrip Carbon and Alloy Assembly Compound part #SAC-2. This paste helps create a tighter grip between two slippery surfaces (seat posts), carbon or aluminum. And also helps to eliminate squeaking in these areas.Having 100-200+ lbs. on a bike seat/post plus the road vibrations, bumps, potholes, curbs, etc. puts a lot of downward pressure on the seat post causing constant re-tightening adjustments. The paste was made to eliminate this slippage and constant seat post readjustments.
Question: how does this attach to a PCS-9? do I need the "accessory collar
Answer: I use it for all bearings on my bikes, so yes it is for metal-to-metal contact surfaces.

  • Cyclone Chain Scrubber cleans chains quickly, easily, and effectively
  • GearClean brush reaches deep between gears and other places where dirt collects
  • ChainBrite Chain and Component Cleaning Fluid is plant-based and will not harm alloy, plastic, rubber or carbon fiber

User questions & answers

Question: How do you dispose of the cleaning solvent. Can it go in the sanitary sewer or does it need to be disposed of as haz waste
Answer: I pour it into a container. Once I have enough collected degreaser I run it through a pour over coffee filter like this one https://www.amazon.com/HIC-Harold-Co-2664-Coffee/dp/B001S3B9F8 (Pro tip: do not use this for coffee, get a second one for that!). and reuse the solvent.
Question: will gear brush tool fit 12spd
Answer: It will work with SRAM 12 speed and Ultegra 11 speed (I have used it on both). I would be shocked if it wouldn't work with my [sadly long gone] 6 speed bike from 1983. Chain widths have changed a little, but the brushes are not a fine tuned implement - they just slather the metal bits.
Question: How important is it to have a bike stand in order to clean your chain, and does a dummy hub eliminate the need for a stand
Answer: I would think that a dummy hub would work. All you really need is an ability to keep the bike stationary roll rotating the chain, keeping the chain parallel to the ground. if you tilt the chain, the fluid starts pouring out of the device. I use my bike stand, and then pedal the bike backward.
Question: How can used cb-4 bio chainbrite degreaser be disposed of in an environmentally safe way
Answer: I pour it into a container.

CM-5.3 Cyclone Chain Scrubber

Cleans bicycle chains quickly, easily, and effectively — without the hassle and mess of removing the chain from the bike. The Park Tool CM-5.3 Cyclone Chain Scrubber uses an extra-large solvent reservoir and a series of rotating brushes to get chains sparkling clean. A magnet at the bottom of the Cyclone’s solvent reservoir draws particles scrubbed from the chain, effectively keeping them from being redistributed on the chain during cleaning. The durable sponge material draws solvent from the chain as it exits the Cyclone, reducing drips and mess. The brushes and sponge of the CM-5.3 are replaceable (part # RBS-5).

GSC-1 GearClean Brush

Park Tool’s GSC-1 GearClean Brush has a unique design. A large comfortable handle with a curved, toothed-end reaches dirt deep between the gears, and tough nylon bristles clean the derailleur and chain. Saves wear and tear on your chain and freewheel. Works great on brakes or other places where dirt collects.

CB-4 Bio ChainBrite

Park Tool Bio ChainBrite Bicycle Chain and Component Cleaning Fluid is a 100% biodegradable, natural, plant-based degreaser formulated for use in the CM-5.3 Cyclone Chain Scrubber, or with a scrubbing brush as a general purpose degreaser. When used with a chain cleaner, CB-4 gets bicycle chains clean inside and out so they're good as new. Will not harm alloy, plastic, rubber, or carbon fiber parts, so it's safe to use for cleaning cassettes, chainrings, pulleys, or any other component that accumulates muck and grime.

User questions & answers

Question: is this suitable for wheel bearings on a motorized bike (30mph
Answer: It doesn't really matter. The cement tube in the patch kit will be dried out within 10 months of first use. As a practical matter, I've found that these Park patch kits are a single use item.I'm a verified purchaser of this Park VP-1 patch kit. As I suggest in my review, you can buy good quality Kenda inner tubes for about $5.75 each, shipped. I now carry a new inner tube in my panniers and would install that instead of patching. However, I also carry a replacement Park patch kit for the unlikely event of having two or more flats in one day. That event is so unlikely that I prefer to carry the small, light Park patch kit instead of a second new inner tube. The cement tube in the Park kit will remain fluid for many years as long as it is kept sealed and unused.
Question: can I use this for my pedals on spin bike
Answer: No clue. This one works great though.
Question: Would this work on free bearing in my shimano hg500 hub set up
Answer: The only plastic parts are those colored blue in the illustration plus the rubber pads in the clamp. I have had numerous Park bike tools, and I have found them to be of consistently high quality.
Question: Should i use this or polylube 1000 on a through axle
Answer: 14.5" from the back of the mounting plate to the center of the bike frame

User questions & answers

Question: Does it work gor a half link chain
Answer: It should work the same as with any bike chain tool. Better than most of the ones out there actually.
Question: Has anyone used this on a BMX half-link chain? have used one where the little stabilizer teeth on the tool did not have room for this thicker chain
Answer: Only used it on 21speed derailer chain... their site say, "The CT-5 is intended for derailleur chains. The wide 1/8" and 3/16" chains should use the CT-7. When pressing in or pressing out a rivet, place the chain roller over the chain tool cradle as showing in the image here."www.parktool.com... good luck
Question: Will this work on 11 speed chains (my bikes have Sram Red22 & XX1 chains
Answer: Yes, I've used it on 11 speed chains without side effects, but I'm not a professional mechanic.
Question: will this tool work to break a single speed chain
Answer: From Park Tool technical support: “Our CT-5 is only compatible with 3/32" 5 to 12-speed derailleur chain. The cast alignment tabs can break off when used on larger chain. Please purchase our CT-3.2 Chain Tool for use on Single Speed chains and all other size bicycle chains… CT-3.2 is compatible with 1/8", 3/16", BMX ‘Half-Link’ single-speed chains and 5 to 12-speed derailleur chains, but will not peen Campagnolo® 11-speed chain rivets (see CT-4.3 or CT-6.3)”

User questions & answers

Question: How come this stand is a good hundred bucks more expensive than the chinese one
Answer: FYI to all you guys , this stand is also made in China.. Just saying.. Some of Park tools stuff is really great and has the quality you expect from the company, this stand however I don't think is any better than the "Bike Hand" brand repair stand. The only thing this stand has over the bike hand one is the metal clamp but then it has cheaper stuff on the rest of the stand so I would say they are about even. Park Tools does charge too much for some of their stuff when you compare it to other brands, especially when you find this stand is also made in China anyways.
Question: Does it extend heigh enough to work on a bike without bending down
Answer: Most definitely it extends high enough.
Question: Does this fold up without assembly when not in use
Answer: It folds up while assembled. I use it daily for work and have to unfold and fold every day to fit in the back seat of my truck. You have to assemble it out of the box it's sent to you in however.
Question: How much weight will it hold
Answer: According to the Park Tool website this tool will hold up to 80 lbs if the bike is centered over the legs. I mounted my 67 lb. Rad Mini e-bike on this stand and the stand felt solid.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the back of the hat adjustable or is this a stretchy FlexFit type of hat
Answer: Yes, it lasted one day with me and I returned it....it did not fix a very small hole. Better products eleswhere..i ended up buying a new inner tube for my bike for just a little more money.
Question: does this tray fit other brands of stands or only Park Tool
Answer: Depending on how aggressive you are with the glue at least 2 patches. However, once the break the seal the remaining glue will be good for about 6 month. Beyond that you are pushing your luck. It does not matter which brand you buy. If you have broken the seal, toss it at the end of the season and buy a new kit. On a side note: something rarely seen in the instructions, before installing the inner tube, check the inside of the tire to insure the object that caused the puncture is not still embedded in the tire!
Question: Does this tracy spin on the post
Answer: From the looks of the new add is that one is last years product and the more expensive one is this years product ! I'd go with the new one ! Just because the glue would be fresher. It's an awesome patch .. I know that for a fact. Significantly better than a walmart product and significantly better priced than a bicycle shop. I'll probably order a new one here ..
Question: does this tray fit other brands of stands or only Park Tool
Answer: Possibly because of the inflated pressure pushing on the patch and possibly sealing the hole, but probably not! Sounds like an old tube with dry rot separating the 2 materials. In an emergency I might try it, however I would replace the tube.

Park Tool ASC-1 Anti-Seize Compound for Bicycles

Park Tool

Based on 982 reviews Check latest price
  • Reduces friction in threaded and press fit connections for easy assembly and disassembly
  • Seals and protects parts from corrosion and rust under the most extreme conditions
  • Ideal for bottom bracket and pedal threads, pressed headset cups, seat posts, quill stems, etc.
  • For use on steel, aluminum, and titanium
  • 4 oz. (113 g) tube

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone tried this for ball bearings in a 3 peice crankset before? How well did it work
Answer: It should fit. How well depends on the size of the lock ring. I think it fits newer model bikes better than older. It was too loose for my liking on a late 80's Shimano bottom bracket lock ring. Park lists the maximum major diameter as 46mm and the maximum minor diameter as 40mm. The closer your lock ring measurements are to these maximums, the better the fit will be.
Question: Can I use this for my pedals when I put them in the bracket so they don't squeak
Answer: I am not familiar with the specific bike that you mention, but these two tools fit different applications. The HCW-18 will fit mostly one piece cranksets. The HCW-5 will fit 3-notch lockrings with an outside diameter of 46mm.
Question: Does this smell as bad as automotive anti-seize
Answer: yes
Question: Which parts/spots/places on a bike would I actually apply this specifically? Pedal threads? Chain rings? Bottom Bracket
Answer: Disregard my previous message, you will need the BBT-22 or the BBT-32.
