Answer:	Ours is slightly tapered, with the top being slightly larger than the bottom. Stick is not circular in cross-section, it is oval. With ~1" being the long axis and 3/4" being the short axis. Makes for a nice fit in child's hand.

Answer:	It'd be on the big side, but I don't think I've ever met a 2 year old who didn't feel like they were using something for a big kid! They'd just have to grab around the stick vs holding the top. If you think they could do that, I don't see why they couldn't use it.

Answer:	I purchased these for my wife in 2017 and they keep getting out of adjustment and changing length and now one them is frozen so I cannot adjust the length at all. Answer:	Not sure what type of "fall protection" you mean. These poles are not a substitute for a cane if you have balance issues. The poles are hollow so they do flex slightly if you accidentally bear all your weight on just one pole. If you're wondering how well they may prevent a possible fall due to sliding on loose stones or gravel while hiking downhill, or stepping on a snow-covered ice patch - I don't know. My guess is you'll still fall due to perpetual motion and gravity. I've only used my poles in an urban setting.
