About the Actor

Michael Nyqvist graduated from the Swedish Academic School of Drama. After working mainly in theatre he landed smaller parts in several different film productions. His first big breakthrough came in 2000 with the film TOGETHER by Lukas Moodysson. The movie reached great international success and Nyqvist won a Best Actor Award at the Gijon International Film Festival. He went on to play leading parts in award-winning movies such as THE GUY IN THE GRAVE NEXT DOOR (2002) d by Kjell Sundvall for which he won a Guldbagge Award (Sweden s equivalent of the Oscars) for Best Actor for his performance, AS IT IS IN HEAVEN (2004), by Kay Pollak, DAY AND NIGHT (2004), by Simon Staho and SUDDENLY (2006) by Johan Brisinger. The cast from DAY AND NIGHT won a Silver Hugo Award for Best Ensemble Acting at the 2004 Chicago International Film Festival. When cutting our filet mignon steaks, we trim the fat off first and remove a layer of tough collagen called the silver skin. Answer:	Use a 4" grinder with a very fine flap wheel, and sharpen the blade WITH the slope of the head - not against. Use a diamond hone to finish it.

Answer:	That's what I'm trying to figure out too. The fiskars website no longer says made in Finland. Just designed in Finland. And "Made in Finland" doesn't seem to be molded into the top of the handle on the axe head anymore. My 9 inch Gerber only says "Finland" on the head but it does say "Made in Finland" on the card it came attached to. I paid extra for that Gerber because I was able to ascertain that it really was made in Finland. I'm not have as much luck with this 14 inch. Too bad they don't include images of the card stock, box, whatever so a person can know beforehand. Usually I assume that when Country of Origin is not included it's because they're not very proud of what they've did. So I assume it's likely manufactured in China. I have some Svea 123 backpacking stoves. The old ones are stamped "Made in Sweden" and they really are. The new ones are simply stamped "Sweden" which isn't really a lie since the company is based there. You'd be surprised how many people see "Sweden" stamped on the stove base and take it to mean it was made in Sweden. My fear is that is what's happening here. People see "Finland" stamped on the axe head and read "Made in Finland" into it. Then again, maybe Fiskars doesn't play that game? BTW, I'm not saying it's not a good hatchet if it's made in China. But I suspect the odds go down unless Fiskars has a heavy presence at the factory, to insure quality control.

Blade Edge Requires Sharpening for Uses Other Than Throwing

Each head is designed for axe throwing which doesn't require a super sharp blade edge. For uses other than throwing such as chopping and splitting, these blades may require additional sharpening.

Friction Fit Head Design

You will likely experience the separation of the axe head from the handle if the head or handle hit the target incorrectly.

Other products use a set screw to attached the head to handle. We believe a set screw doesn't offer a true and proper fit and it compromises the handles integrity.

Thus, we use a friction fit design that requires friction to hold the head and handle. Proper fit is required for this design to work correctly. If your head and handle separate frequently without reason, it is likely the handle needs to be sanded a bit where the fit is wrong.

Grain refers to the direction of the "veins" of the wood. Wood will split easier if you are cutting in the direction of the grain. When chopping wood you try to cut along the grain to split the wood. If you were to use cross grain handles it just wouldn't make sense for throwing (they would break much easier). By selling only straight grain handles we are offering you the most durable handles available.

Answer:	I believe Its mainly intended as a throwing hawk! And it preforms that funtion very well .but i use it for light camp chores as well like chopping kindling sharpening stakes or pegs! Its a little light to do much bigger tasks without damaging it or yourself. As a weapon it could be real handy provided youd know how to use it in that capacity or ever find yourself in need of such a thing! Hope this helped M.E.
Question:	I just bought two of these, one of them was missing the screws and allen wrench. Can i get those pieces shipped to me
Answer:	I had the same issue. The manufacturer of this particular throwing ax does not make a sheath or any type of frog or tak. most carriers used this style of axe to throw and would just slide in a belt or use a ring frog to carry. I hade a leather shop hand make sheath/frog tak for each of my 4 axes like this one. I do not like nylon or rubber blade covers and replace with leather tak handmade for each of my axes. They are well balanced and do throw well. I did put a sharper edge on mine as the edge from the forge was not well enough to get a good stick into the wood target. I hope this helps. Some resellers will add an edge cover but rarely a sheath.

Answer:	It is forged, the steel shouldn´t be judged as a knife steel. It should be high carbon, but the particles of a forged steel are forced together mecanically during forging process not chemically by heating during tempering process as a knife. You should think of it as a hammer more than as a knife. it is more likely simmilar to the RMJ tomahawk than to others made out of knife steel, like the ontario rangers, if you are looking for a cutting tool this is not it. it is more like a rock hammer much like the ones used by the geologists. Need less to say, i think it is the best option as a work tool for personnel in service since the equivalent (RMJ) is over 650USD. I hope this helps.

Answer:	Robert I, you certainly seem to be a man of few words! lol. If you're asking about how it throws, I'd say it throws very well. This is Cold Steel's lightest hawk, and you sure do feel that! Personally I like the heft of the Spike Hawk more, when throwing. But I started out (years ago) throwing with pretty heavy hawks. So I'm dialed-in for a bit more weight.. All the same; this does throw well! If you're just starting out, or if it's for a youth / petite lady, this is for sure the go-to hawk! My girlfriend loves to throw this one, for it's weight. (even though she likes the look of the Spike Hawk more. :P) Hope I've answered your question thoroughly! Have fun throwing!! ...oh and one more thing... I've owned a lot of hawks over the years, and I can honestly say; none hold up as well as the Cold Steel ones do. Not even custom made / hand forged. These Cold Steel hawks are tough! If a throw goes south, and it dances head over haft across the yard, you needn't worry too much about the edge picking up dings and notches..

Answer:	The hatchet part is a little light, and striking things hard will loosen up the head on the handle eventually, but this is exactly what I use this for, primarily a pickaroon. It is great for moving, trimming and debarking freshly cut firewood onto a spliter and a trailer, and is even better for getting stacked firewood out of a snow pile. Just whack into the white stuff and pull out firewood. I use mine all the time, as I am in the hardwood forest of frozen Minnesota, and partially heat with oak and other windfalls. The war hammer has a longer handle and is less likely to cut your wrist if you are primarily wanting a pickaroon. The people who say this is only a weapon are wrong. In today's reality, you can't carry a hawk when you go down to the hood to get yo chit, and we just ain't skalping injuns in the suburbs anymore. It's not PC.
Question:	What kind of steel do you use for this tomahawk
Answer:	My son (the ax expert) says that as a defensive weapon stay away from the Spike as you run the danger of getting it caught on something (or yourself) on the backswing. As far as Frontier vs Norse, he feels it's a matter of personal preference. The handles are the same size but the Norse cutting edge is 3/4" longer and 1oz heavier than the Frontier. The important thing is to find an appropriate holster for it. In a defensive situation, you don't want it strapped to your pack. Good luck with your choice.

Answer:	Interestingly, since you asked I actually own the cold steel Tomahawk now that you mention it, and I find the cold steel kukri is best for scalping. Also I'm a member of the Lakota nation in South Dakota So I speak with a certain bit, if online modestly with authority.
