13 best marine coolers
Marine coolers, often referred to as marine ice chests or marine cool boxes, are specialized coolers designed for use in marine and outdoor environments, particularly on boats or during camping and outdoor activities. These coolers are engineered to withstand the unique challenges of marine conditions and are built to keep perishable items cold for extended periods. Here's what you should know about marine coolers:
Durability: Marine coolers are built to be rugged and durable. They are typically constructed from high-quality materials such as heavy-duty plastic, fiberglass, or rotomolded plastic. These materials are chosen for their resistance to corrosion, UV rays, and harsh marine environments.
Insulation: These coolers feature advanced insulation technology to provide excellent ice retention. The insulation helps maintain cold temperatures for an extended period, even in hot outdoor conditions.
Sealing: Marine coolers are equipped with airtight gaskets and robust latches to create a tight seal. This ensures that air and moisture are kept out, contributing to better temperature control.
Size Variety: Marine coolers come in various sizes, ranging from small portable options to large, heavy-duty chests capable of holding a substantial amount of food and beverages. The size you choose depends on your specific needs and available storage space.
Handles and Wheels: Some marine coolers are designed with built-in handles or wheels for easier transport. This is especially beneficial when you need to move a fully loaded cooler from your boat to your campsite or vice versa.
Drainage: Many marine coolers include a drain plug or spout for convenient water drainage. This feature allows you to remove melted ice or excess water without tipping the cooler.
UV Resistance: Given their exposure to direct sunlight in outdoor and marine settings, marine coolers are often UV-resistant to prevent sun damage and maintain their appearance over time.
Accessories: Some marine coolers may come with additional accessories such as cutting boards, cup holders, or fishing rod holders, making them even more versatile for outdoor enthusiasts.
Brands: Several reputable brands manufacture marine coolers, including Yeti, Coleman, Igloo, and Pelican. These brands offer a wide range of options to suit different budgets and preferences.
Uses: Marine coolers are not limited to marine environments; they are also popular for camping, picnicking, tailgating, and any outdoor activity where keeping food and beverages cold is essential.
In summary, marine coolers are specialized, durable, and well-insulated coolers designed for use in marine and outdoor settings. They are built to withstand harsh conditions, maintain low temperatures for extended periods, and provide a reliable way to keep perishable items cold while enjoying various outdoor activities.

User questions & answers
Question: | Are the hinges metal or plastic |
Answer: | Try "porridge" setting--but keep an eye on the lentils--might be done before the cycle ends. |
Question: | Where is it made |
Answer: | I can't answer for this specific model, but I grew up in Japan and we made rice all the time in a rice cooker very much like this (we got ours twenty years ago so this has a few more bells and whistles I'm sure) and can speak about generalizations. When we would make a large batch of rice, we could eat it for two days or so (although it rarely lasted that long) and the rice was still decent, if not great. I've found that after about 12 to 18 hours, it's still fine for covering it with stir-fry or something like that, but it's not really good enough to eat plain like it is when it's fresh.Update - I have since purchased this model and the 12 hour keep warm is a bit confusing. What the feature does is it holds the rice at a slightly lower temp for twelve hours to keep the quality then shifts to the standard keep warm setting which keeps the rice safe for longer. I've had my rice in this cooker for 3 days and it was still good. There was a bit of a loss in quality, but not much. |
Question: | What are the external measurements at base |
Answer: | This model can even make cakes, and yes, it can be used as a slow cooker. However, be sure to clean throughly all parts before making rice. The taste could transfer to the next dish if not cleaned properly. |
Question: | Ask the important questions people. how. many. beers |
Answer: | Yes. There is a countdown timer displayed the entire time. It adjusts the cooking time as necessary to ensure perfect cooking. |
- UV inhibitors in lid guard against sun damage.
- Stain- and odor-resistant liner.
- Threaded drain plug for hose hook up.
- Reinforced, swing-up handles with tie-down loop feature.
- Dual, snap-fit latches secure lid closure.

Question: | What are the interior dimensions of the 100 qt cooler |
Answer: | I don't understand the response about the cooler handles not staying up? If a 9x13 pan fits, what do the handles have to do with it? Thank you! |
Question: | what is the size |
Answer: | Yes it does - near the bottom of the cooler and centered between the wheels. Very nice cooler, you won't be disappointed. |
Question: | can a container 21" long x 12.5" high x 14" wide fit inside this cooler and the lid close |
Answer: | Cooler holds up to 84 cans. |
Question: | the size of the cooler |
Answer: | I just measured mine and the outside dimensions were: 17" high, 23" wide (outside edge of handle to outside edge of handle), 21" width of cooler, 20" deep (from front edge to back edge of telescoping handle) - Hope that helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how much ice will a 45 quart hold |
Answer: | If you pack carefully you can make this work. I've done a couple of 2 week Europe trips out of a 38L bag and even had room for souvenirs. The trick is to pack layers of clothes that you can wear multiple times. You don't need 3 weeks worth of clothes; more like 4 days of clothes as do laundry in your sink for your socks and underwear every few days. I just got this bag for another international trip because the dimensions are perfect for international carry-on sizes. Plus you can bring a small day pack as your "personal item" where you can store electronics, snacks and other necessities. |
Question: | Hi What are the dimensions |
Answer: | So far I love the bag. As far as a pocket for a hydration system, it has a flat pocket in the back of the center large compartment. It is the width of the of the back of the pack and about 2/3 rds of the length. It is not specifically design for a hydration system but I am sure it would work if it was one of those flatter rectangular water pouches. |
Question: | Is the label that says yeti in white with black letters or in white with black letters |
Answer: | This backpack is slightly bigger than a traditional school bag. |
Question: | does this come with the basket inside |
Answer: | In your world? I am not so sure. However, for most other living objects here on Earth, within a mile or so of sealevel, it is light blue. |

Question: | what is the length and width for this cooler |

Basically if your trying to replace a 94 igloo , a new 94 igloo will be exact same size |
Question: | Is there a drain on the cooler? Maybe so I could attach a hose and the water from the ice drain into the bilge |
Answer: | It does not come with a drain. I bought an Igloo drain and installed it in the cooler myself about 5 years ago and it has worked fine. |
Question: | what are dimentions for 36 qt |
Answer: | 19.75" L x 10.5" W x 10.25" |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a drain plug? Threaded or non |
Answer: | Yes it does. Check them out closely though, one of mine was defective. |
Question: | How many 12 oz cans fit with ice |
Answer: | On youtube there are several vids on cooler improvements. One person got some 1" thick rigid foam and put in the cooler then sealed with aluminum HVAC tape. I would improve on that a get a piece of that rigid 4x8 foam with reflective surface from Lo__es. I think it's called polytherm and it's a light green color. The reflectivity along with the isulation may give 1-2 days longer ice retention. I think it was under 10 bucks. |
Question: | Does it have two handles or just one |
Answer: | Depends how much weight you have in it. The wheels are rather small and clearly designed more for hard surfaces like concrete. It's passable on gravel. On a beach you might be able to drag it along if there was only 1 6-pack and a small block of Dry Ice in it, but it's not really designed for that. |
Question: | What are the outside dimensions |
Answer: | 'Ultratherm insulated lid and body keeps contents cold.' |

About Us
W.C. Coleman could see the light for the darkness. The young salesman was taking a stroll after a hard day’s work selling typewriters, and spotted a new type of lamplight in a drugstore window in Brockton, Alabama. This new light burned with a strong, steady white flame and was fueled by gasoline. The standard lamp of the era burned kerosene and produced a smoky, flickering, yellowish light. W.C. was stricken with very poor eyesight, and was very interested in this new, steady white light that enabled him to read even the smallest print in books and on medicine bottles. Coleman saw potential in the new light, and through his vision a new company was born that would put America’s farms and ranches in a new light, and would eventually make his name synonymous with outdoor fun.
