Question:	From what I see in the reviews it seems that there is a problem with the cord getting to hot and the tip of it melting.Is there a better quality cord
Answer:	I've had no issues with the cord attached to the cooler itself but I did have an issue with the Schumacher PC-6 120AC to 6A 12V DC Power Converter that I purchased for indoor use. It ran hot and in less than 6 months it died (Amazon graciously allowed me to return it and gave me a full refund). I replaced it with a Wagan 5 Amp AC to 12V DC Power Adapter. While it gets a little warm, it runs much cooler than with the Schumacher adapter. In fact, the Igloo runs quieter and appears to be more efficient with this adapter. That said I think the power source may be the root cause of the issues that others may have with overheating/melting. I run my cooler inside, all day, everyday as it serves as my office refrigerator and I've had it since last November. I love it and will buy another on the sad day planned obsolescence kicks in.
Question:	Why is the larger unit cheaper than the smaller unit
Answer:	Really don't know but I found out that the larger one keeps cooler much longer and at a lower degree.
Question:	What is the power consumption in amps? I'm useing deep cycle batteries, and low amps is a must
Answer:	Working current, battery consumption is between 3.5 to 4.8 Amps according to the owner's operating manual. The current draw is 6 amps maximum at 12-volt DC. I hope this is helpful.

Answer:	I have the same question except I'm wondering if the lid will close with 2-litre soda bottles standing inside. That 13 1/2" height measurment sounds rreeaalllly close to the height of a 2 litre bottle. Has anyone actually tried it?

Answer:	This unit will keep things about 20 degrees cooler than the outside temp at best. I freeze a couple of water bottles or a freezer pack and it will keep things cold much better. Takes about 10 hrs or more before the frozen bottles melt enough to drink with the outside temp at over 90 degrees.

Answer:	Read my review of the Coleman Hot/Cold 40 Qt. Had a Coleman from 2000 that finally died due to a design flaw that allowed the fan to bind in the nacelle/ housing. Bought a new one that lasted 10 weeks. Finally got my refund 4 months later. Can't compare it to this one, but some of the other answers here are misleading. This product is not a portable refrigerator. Those have thermostats and use a compressor. Peltier devices are power hogs - about 5% efficient at transferring heat. So, 95% of the heat you feel on the exhaust of these is produced by the Peltier device, not from inside the cooler. Also, some heat is transferred through inefficient insulation. That's why it takes hours to remove heat from the interior of these coolers before you can start using them.
Question:	Does this actually cool to 40 degrees or does it cool to 40 degrees below ambient temperature? That is a huge difference it gets to 100 where I live

Answer:	Love this product. It uses 40 watts as it runs. From the time it plugged in It took about half a day to freeze ice cubes and using a single deep cycle Battery ran without recharging for three days. I take it camping. As far as I know, any refrigerator or freezer will not run properly in cold weather but you might be safe at 40 degrees. 80 is no problem.

Answer:	Mine runs at about 50 watts when it is running. Once cold it runs for about 3-4 minutes then shuts off for about 22-23 minutes then repeats. Mine is set for economy mode at 4C on my boat down here at Key West Fl. I really like mine as a small fridge. Makes a big difference living on my boat with only solar power to keep the batteries up. With 2 100 watt panels my batteries are charged by 11:00-11:30 in the morning.

Answer:	For anyone interested in current draw, I ran a test over 24 hours with a watt meter. The ambient temp was about 21 C (68 F) and the refrigerator was set to 0 C (32 F). In the 24 hours I opened the unit about 6 times to measure the temperate of items inside with a non-contact thermometer. Temperature of items maintained about 3-4 C. The current draw was just over 12 amps over the 24 hours. This gives an average draw of about .5 amps/hr. This will be higher if the ambient temps are higher of the temp of the unit is lowered.

Question:	How long is the provided power cord that goes in the 12V receptacle? Can you purchase a longer one if needed
Answer:	About 90 inches to the end of the 12V plug (the plug itself is about 4 inches, so I'd subtract that from the distance the cooler can be from the receptacle). I did not look for a longer one, but I did purchase an adapter that would allow you to plug into a standard 120V outlet. The end that goes into the cooler is hardwired, so you couldn't replace it but I'll bet you could by an adapter to extend it.

Answer:	Yes 2 gallons standing and I put 4 lbs of ice just in case, but the ice did not melt

Answer:	As of 2019, I only received the 12 volt plug that goes into the cigarette lighter. I saw more people saying that they received both compared to those only receiving the 12V which comes attached to the cooler. I had to buy the 120 volt cord as I will need that to plug into my solar as my 12 volt power sources do not work.

Answer:	It doesn't matter - you can use the cooler either standing up, like a fridge, in which case the dimensions are 24"tall x 16"wide x 17.25deep, or use it laying down, like an ice chest, in which the dimensions are 17.25"tall x 24"long x 16"wide

Answer:	Thats a Great question. It isn't in the manual on how to remove the water it just says what you can clean it with. You cannot remove the drawer because the pump is hooked up and I dont see a plug to drain the water. I tried a sponge but that took too long. The thing that worked best is a turkey baster that sucks up the water. Poor design by the company. If anyone has a better answer please let me know.

Answer:	Yes you can. I have put ice in mine, however it only give you a momentary blast of cool air for a lil while. I’ve learned to just let the water cool off the temperature in the room.

So I have a house adapter that I plug it into to chill it down then I put my cold drinks in it usually cans and when I am ready to leave I then take it out to my vehicle and plug it in there for during a trip from New York to North Carolina . Answer:	It keeps the cooler cold if you stop and turn acc feed off. I make 3 or 4 stops 60 to 90 minutes and it keeps lunch and drinks cold.

Answer:	Yes, you can use cooler packs or ice. I use the cooler packs even when using it plugged in. My car accessory plugs do not work when the car is off. So on trips when I stop the cooler packs keep things cool, and don't take up much room in the cooler.

Answer:	I know of no reason you could not, but not sure why you'd want to. The cooler itself is much like any regular cooler, but with the Thermoelectric heat exchanger in the lid. It would not keep ice frozen as it will operate at ~ 40 F below ambient temp. If the ambient temp is 75, it would stay around 35-40F.

Answer:	Yes, unplug it at night if it’s cold. It says it gets to 40F. This is an error. The paperwork says it gets to 40 degrees below ambient temperature. That’s the right answer. So if it’s 80 it gets to 40. If it’s 110 it gets to 70. If it’s 50 it freezes everything. Unplugged it will keep your stuff from freezing though.

Question:	Does it have a thermostat
Answer:	No, the P65 not P75 have a thermostat. I did not like the P75 - never worked - see my review. The p65 did work great and used it on two trips. It kept ice packs that started out frozen solid frozen for days. On another trip it cooled room temp bottles of water down to nice cold ittles in a day (left plugged in to house power woth converter to precool at house before trip) Would recommend the P65 - but it does not have a thermostat.
Question:	What is the power draw/consumption? Can I power this with a 20watt solar panel
Answer:	The Koolatron draws a full 5 amps at 12 volts. A 20 watt solar panel won't come near to providing the amperage necessary to run any refrigeration unit that I am aware of. As mentioned below, 60 watts is absolute minimum, but with haze and clouds, you would probably do best with a 100 watt panel, plus a large storage battery for dark days and nights. Question:	What size solar panel does it take to power this, or if anyone has tried it
Answer:	This thing uses a surprising amount of electricity. And it's VERY poorly insulated, so as soon as it stops running it heats up quickly. In full sun, a 100w solar panel will work, but no matter where you are (assuming the US) you'll only get 4-5 hours of full, direct sun per day. The other problem is that this cooler is very poorly insulated. The top isn't even airtight. So that means it will start to warm up about half an hour after the sun is no longer directly overhead. To get around this you'll need several (3-4) 100w panels and at least 100-150 mah of battery storage if you want to keep something cold for one day.
Question:	Is there a power cord with this cooler and how long is it
Answer:	Yes, it has a 9 ft long,12vdc power cord. One end has a plug that fits into a lighter socket, the other end has a plug that connects to a short cable on the unit. It can be connected to either produce hot or cold depending on need.
Question:	Does this thing run constantly (and draw constant amps) or does it cycle on and off like a regular fridge
Answer:	The fan appears to run constantly. When using the adapter indoors the same is true so I think it is set up to run all the time and maintain a roughly 40 degree temperature drop from the surroundings. When we travel in the car, we put a couple of frozen water bottles in at the beginning of a trip. These allow us to stop for several hours of sightseeing without having the cooler get warm. WE stopped for as long as 5 hours and everything was still nice and cold when we got back to the car. On a recent 23 day trip out west, we took it into each hotel at night and plugged in the adapter. We probably used hotel refrigerator freezers a half dozen times to refreeze the bottles and when we got home we still had ice in the bottles. The nice thing is that with this cooler, everything stays dry and you don't have to get dripping water all over everything when you want a drink or worry about things falling into the water in the cooler. There is no water in the bottom.However, the cooler does draw significantly so you would not want to leave it on when the engine is not running in the car. We don't have that problem because all our outlets are controlled by the ignition key.
Question:	Can it be left on overnight and not run the battery down? Are there molded in carry handles on the sides
Answer:	Yes there are molded handles on the sides. I am a truck driver so this goes in the cab of an 18-wheeler. So I cannot say whether it would run down a car battery if ran overnight and the car is off. This works great in the cab of my 18-wheeler, it is rugged and can handle the bouncing around in an 18-wheeler. Previously I have used the Coleman plug-in coolers and they only lasted a few months.
