Question:	How much metal is in this press? I am worried about rusting in humid, salty conditions. I'm looking for a press with minimal metal (rustable) parts
Answer:	The only metal in the entire press is the plunger shaft and the filtering screen. Both are stainless steel so corrosion should be a non issue provided you don't make your coffee using salt water lol. Seriously tho this is a great press. Light and well built. 30 oz capacity and makes killer coffee. Has a nice insulated jacket to. No more nasty instant coffee in the back country. Answer:	No. It’s a french press, not a percolator. You pour coffee and hot water into it, & then push the plunger down to filter it.

Answer:	Our coffee is specialty-grade and ethically sourced primarily from a family farm in Thailand that employs former sex-trafficking victims. Answer:	Yes - we recommend using water just below boiling (generally around 200°F) for the best-tasting cup of coffee. It takes roughly 2 minutes to brew a full cup! Answer:	I’m not in front of it but about 8 inches. Side note I replaced my other OXO French pressing had for at least 8 years. This one is plastic yuck. Luckily I kept the old one which is glass, all I really needed was the plunger. Works great though :)

Answer:	60 grams of coffee and 1,000 grams (1 liter) of water.

Answer:	No it does not. I made enough coffee for one of my insulated mugs so there was little to no extra. When I wanted more coffee I made another pot by adding about half of the original coffee and more hot water. It worked for the second cup but needed to be fresh for the next one.

Answer:	Hi all, I wanted to reply to the comments that say this was a Kickstarter scam. On Kickstarter I ordered the RitePress 1/2 liter stainless steel about 2 years ago (NOT the product shown here, but one by the same company). Unlike many of the people who have commented above, I did receive my stainless steel Rite Press in late 2018. So far it has worked extremely well. The seal at the base works fine, the plunger is ideal, and the heavy construction and heat insulation are everything I could have hoped for. I'm an archaeologist, and I am thinking about ordering a larger one of these to take to a rugged field camp in Africa - it's that sturdy! The only thing that doesn't seem to work right is the thermometer - it never registers above "lukewarm" even when I put in boiling water. I just want you guys to know that yes, these do exist, I did receive my product (again, different from this one here). There may have been production delays or something but it is not a scam.

Question:	What size filters does it take
Answer:	I don't think this will let you down. The netting will hold a lot of coffee and by design will fit just about any mug/cup....even a canteen cup! No carrier but appears to be quite durable. I always placed mine in a small zip storage/sandwich clear plastic bag....but you can be creative to give it a more durable carrier if desired. The only down fall I found with this is in cold climates the water.....even boiling water goes cold too fast to drink it all. There are pour overs that solve most of that problem if it were pertinent to you.
Question:	Anyone actually weigh it? I see a lot of complaints of it being heavy. Conflicting data though, Amazon descriptions of both 10oz and 4oz weight
Answer:	It fold completely flat. I keep it stored at the bottom of a bowl with a cup on top of it. It works perfectly. The best and the easiest cup of coffee on the trail ever in my opinion.

Answer:	You don’t need to use filters. People who are complaining about weak coffee need to use a finer ground and first bloom the grounds for around 30 seconds. That means pouring a small amount of hot water over grounds allowing them to swell and release their goodness. Then you pour the rest of your very hot water over the grounds filling whatever vessel you want.

Answer:	That all depends on who, (seller or store), you purchase the item(s) from. Amazon is made up of individual sellers, so if you want to be 100% certain, I would recommend contacting the seller you plan on placing your order with & asking them directly. Answer:	Due to the fact that it makes hair healthier with more volume, hair seems like it’s growing faster but I doubt if it is. Personally, I take 5000mg of biotin and a vitamin with minerals along with using this shampoo (the only shampoo and conditioner I use) and together my hair appears to grow faster.

Question:	Got the percolator and replacement glass top but have to re-learn exactly how much coffee to use for this perfect percolator
Answer:	1 max loaded teaspoon per cup + 1 teaspoon for the pot. Now you have to define the volume of your "cup.". Some coffee lots state 6 oz is a " cup. ". This is dinky. My volume "cup" is a good size mug, about 10-12 oz.I I also wad up a piece of aluminum foil and jam it into the pouring spout ( I have an 8 and 12 cup stove top percolator: Farberware Yosemite). I use enough aluminum foil to have a "handle" I can grab to remove before pouring. What is the purpose for my aluminum foil spout plug? It greatly reduces vapor loss during percolating. You may START with 3-4 mugs of water, but if you forget about the coffee pot, you will quickly boil off a mug of water and change the flavor/strength. Set a simple timer for 6-8 minutes of percolation time, or about 16-18 total minutes from the time you apply heat. For coffee? I like Maxwell House Columbian. Tried many other brands, and "high end" designer / coffee snob beans. I keep coming back to Maxwell House Columbian. I have stopped searching for coffee.
Question:	I bought this and love it. Can you leave the basket in after brewing? That would sure be easier but the instructions say take it out
Answer:	We live on our yacht. I brew a full pot about every three days. I replace what is served with hot, boiling water directly into the basket to extend the grounds as I start with a full basket of an extra dark, gourmet blend. I leave the basket in with the grounds as when the brew has cooled and one desires a cup of coffee, we heat in the microwave. Also, if you add a scant amount of salt to the fresh grounds before you brew a pot of coffee, the brew does not turn acidic, an old restaurant trick! I love our percolator!
Question:	Does it work on induction stove top
Answer:	I just bought this to replace my electric percolator. I saw that many people had answered this question positively. I checked the Yosemite bottom with a magnet and the magnet did not stick but never-the-less it still worked on my Duxtop Induction cooktop. The manufacturer says the bottom was 18/0 stainless which is suitable for induction which is, I'm sure, why it works. I tested it against my regular glass top electric range top the water boiled about twice as fast on the induction cooktop. My method ended up being to set the induction cooktop to high until the water boils then turn down the power to 2 (500W, 180 degrees F) and let perc for 6-7 mins. Worked like a charm.
Question:	Is the filter basket and stem made of stainless steel also or aluminum
Answer:	Do NOT be fooled. You still need to use a Paper coffee filters in this basket. There is a certain type of Unhealthy oil material that comes off of All coffee..Only the coffee filter can catch it.If you notice with this is sold separate, Melitta 628354 Disc Coffeemaker Filters - Pack of 2 (200 Filters total)by Melitta ...Btw Dr. Oz talks about the need for coffee filters all the time even if your coffee pot comes with the mesh, or percolator , for a good reason.

Question:	How do I know if my new pot is still made by farberware, or if is a newer version farberware made by black and decker
Answer:	I had my last Farberware pot for a good eight+ years . . .I see absolutely no difference in my new one. It feels as every bit as solid and heavy as my last one. I'm sorry that it has to be made in China, but it is one of the few reasonably priced ALL STAINLESS STEEL perculators you can buy and I will buy the Farberware one (in 8+ years, I hope) again. I looked at "stainless" perculators at Bed, Bath and read the info on the box, which revealed that only the basket was stainless steel. Put it back on the shelf.
Question:	How many ounces does the 2-4 cup Faberware percolator hold
Answer:	I purchased the 8 cup Farberware coffee pot and it holds about 54 ounces. I'm not so sure about the 2-4 cup coffee pot. I do highly recommend the 8 cup pot, however...because you can still use it to make less cups but then if needed, you also can make 8 cups.
Question:	Is the basket stainless steel as well? Do you need paper filters or will the basket work without it
Answer:	The baskets are stainless steel and you do not need paper filters if you grind the coffee for a percolator. We buy our coffee at Costco and use the machine in the store and set it to "13 Percolator". The basket is specially designed to not need a filter if the coffee grind is correct.
Question:	where is product made
Answer:	Another note. This pot is not made by Farberware, as they no longer make coffee pots. They just sell there names to the Chinese makers. It is not half the quality of the old Farberware one I have. which is too big for every day use. Also after having this a year it stopped keeping the coffee warm and actually perks it again and again. So if you don't take the grinds out fast enough it keeps re-perking and your coffee gets stronger. In any case it still boils your coffee instead of just keeping it warm as it should. I only purchased it because I was stuck. There are not many perk pots on the market any longer. If it was possible I would not purchase it again. but as I said when I purchased it because there wasn't much of a selection out there. It's about time for a new one, so soon I'll have to start looking. I have had this one about 6 years.

Question:	Can you use this to make 16oz of coffee or does it only work when it's filled to capacity? I bought a Coleman percolator and it would not work
Answer:	16oz of coffee yes. But the maximum capacity is 32oz. Instructions clearly state that you must not fill the pot more than the bottom of the black filter basket, which is about 32oz. Being that a 'cup' is 8oz, then the capacity is 4 cups (32/8=4). This is in contradiction to the poster who says it will make 8 "large" cups - no way.
Question:	What kind of filters does it use
Answer:	None. There is a plastic basket inside where you can put your coffee. I never used a filter but suppose if you get a really small one it might help if some of the grounds, if small, escape into the coffee pot.

Our 8 cup Percolator is perfect for brewing a great cup of coffee. Simply place coffee in the basket, add water and place on the stove to brew! Safe for use on gas, glass and electric stove tops.

Product Safeguards

When used properly, and as instructed, your Cafe Brew product will serve you well in your kitchen endeavors. However, misuse of the Percolator (“product”) can cause the glass to break or plastic components to melt and result in personal injury from cuts, scalding or hot/melted plastic. Partial instructions are offered below however please refer to the manufacturer's website for complete instructions.

• Product is strictly intended for brewing coffee as instructed. All other uses are strictly prohibited.
• For adult use only; close supervision is necessary when used near children. Never leave the product unattended while in use.
• Use product on interior household stove top ranges only. Not for commercial or induction stove top use. Do not use product on or in the following devices: oven appliance, microwave oven, fire pit, barbeque grill or fireplace grill.
• Do not subject product to impact as it may weaken glass and cause it to break unexpectedly during use.
• The Trivet included with your Percolator must always be placed on exposed Electric Range coils between the coils and Percolator glass; Trivet is not necessary for use on Gas or Glass Ranges.
• Maximum capacity is 8 cups as delineated at the bottom of the stainless steel band on the Percolator. Do not fill water level above the bottom of the band; overfilling product with water can cause boil over.
• Do not heat or boil product if water level is below the “4” cup level marking on glass - this is the minimum water level.
• Once the coffee has reached the preferred color, immediately remove product from heat source. Do not boil product dry or heat when empty, as this can damage the glass or cause the plastic components to melt. Discontinue use of product if boiled dry or heated empty.
• When inserting Lid into glass, align top lid opening with glass pour spout to allow for ventilation.
• Handle may become hot during use. Use of oven mitts is recommended.
• Failure to comply with these instructions may 1) result in damage to the glass that isn't clearly visible, resulting in breakage during use and 2) cause the plastic components to melt.
• If during heating/use you disregarded these instructions, or suspect the glass is damaged or plastic components may have melted 1) Do not touch or move product 2) immediately turn off heat source 3) instruct any persons who may come into contact with product not to touch or move product 4) allow product to cool for two hours 5) after two hours, using an oven mitt, carefully remove product and discard.

General Product Use, Cleaning & Care

GENERAL PRODUCT USE (in accordance with Safeguards)

FOR GAS RANGES: use on medium size burner (max. 3.5" dia. burner cap) on medium heat setting; consult your range instructions for heat settings. Do not allow flame to extend beyond the bottom surface of the glass. Reduce from medium to low heat setting if flame extends beyond bottom surface of the glass.

FOR ELECTRIC RANGES: use on small size burner (max. 5.6" dia.) on medium heat setting; consult your range instructions for heat settings. Do not place product on burner that is larger than the width of the glass.

1. Place Trivet on Electric Range coils as applicable.
2. Add water to the Percolator, noting required minimum and maximum water levels, and insert stand and brew basket into the glass.
3. Add one rounded tablespoon of coarsely ground coffee into the brew basket for every cup of water. Depending on taste, you may use more or less coffee.
4. Cover the brew basket with the basket lid and insert top lid; align top lid opening with glass pour spout to allow for ventilation.
5. Place Percolator on stove top to brew. Once bubbling begins to appear in top lid knob, continue percolating for 6-10 minutes maximum. The longer the coffee percolates, the stronger the flavor. Keep in mind that percolated coffee often tastes stronger than drip coffee so experiment with water and coffee ratios to achieve your favorite brew.
6. Once percolating is complete, immediately remove product from the heat source.
7. Carefully remove the top lid, stem & brew basket before serving the coffee.

CLEANING & PRODUCT CARE

• Do not use abrasive pads, brushes, cleaners or any metal products on or inside of glass.
• Do not scrub any scale buildup as it may scratch the glass and result in breakage. Use a liquid descaler as directed by descaler product, but do not scrub the glass.
• Use only sponge, plastic or nylon wash pads with soapy water when washing by hand.
• Dishwasher top rack safe. Avoid Percolator contact with other items in dishwasher.

Answer:	Probably too large for quinoa, and anything that size. I bought it to drain my homemade ricotta, and the holes allowed too much loss of the cheese. Calling it mesh is a misnomer. But it is a good handheld colander for just about anything else, including rice. fht it
