Answer:	We've had this for a couple years, but I don't remember it smelling when we got it. If it did, it's nothing am hour outside in the sun wouldn't cure.

Question:	What is the backing of the blanket made of
Answer:	Picnic Time said for the Cove, it was Only the bottom part.
Question:	How do you wash? Is it washer and dryer safe
Answer:	I have no idea about comparisons as this is the one and only 'Brolly' of this type I have ever bought. This particular one would probably only 'hold' one person if they lay lengthwise inside the shelter. We planned on having only our heads and torsos in the shelter in which case, it will hold up to three 'half' people lying side-by-side. We bought it for shade only and not as a shelter. It would, however, hold your beach items whilst you went for a swim and there are a couple of side pockets where you could stash small items (which I would NOT do in case it blew away and took my phone and wallet with it). It is extremely simple to erect, has no central pole (it actually goes up like one of those little food umbrellas one uses in the kitchen) and also has some pegs and guy ropes to anchor it if one is permitted to do so (some beaches do not allow one to use the ropes as it is then considered to be a structure rather than a shade provider like a beach brolly). I do hope this helps your research and ultimate decision.
Question:	What are the dimensions? two different sizes are listed for english plaid xl
Answer:	I haven't weighed it but it is very light. Since they say 3.4 lbs is its shipping weight, it can actually be even lighter. As for the previous answer about how hard it is to fold it, you need to practice 1-2 times before taking it out. I hadn't, so first time on the beach I had to look up a video on youtube to fold it. :-) But it was just fine afterwards. And after a couple months of using it 1-2-3 times a week it's still as strong as new.
Question:	How do I fold this back up after opening/using? I am struggling mightily
Answer:	It folds up pretty flat about 2 inches and it is round about 2 feet in diameter.

Answer:	You can was almost anything these days if you willing to accept their limitations. For best results you can always wash gentle/cold water and air dry. The vinyl will eventually wear and crack. But then the blanket was not that expensive and you will realize your value from it by the time it needs replacing.
Question:	How do you fold it properly for storage? I can't seem to fold it back into it's original packaging
Answer:	It folds into a tote that you zip up. In half twice the long way, in half twice towards the vinyl flap and handle.

Great question! When it comes to dirtiness and stains we suggest surface washing or spot cleaning as the primary care option. The blanket cannot be put in the dryer because the water resistant underside will become damaged from the heat; however (a big however), if you have an option on your dryer to "air dry" or tumble without any heat then you could potentially wash and dry this blanket.
